- Rockwell Art Canada has very kindly sent me 12 very interesting self evolving watercolours to test and review.
Playing with new colours and materials never fails to inspire me. It is just amazing how the pigments number maybe the same but the final recipe of each manufacturer can be surprisingly different.
In this video you will see me swatching out all 12 colours with my eyes wide open. Some concoctions are as enchanting as their name. Who doesn’t start thinking about magic when you hear about witches and wizards.
I will do a few more rounds of testing and also use them for urbansketching to see how they will perform.
This first test was made on Cotman’s 190gsm cold press.

These seem really nice. I wonder how do these paints compare against the Schmincke Super Granulation line or the Chinese SuperVision line.

Hey Paul, thanks for sharing these colours with us. I am still rather confused about the 'self-evolving' name. I was surprised that I couldn't find anything on the Rockwell site about this. I'm guessing that it refers to the colour variation in the paints. Did you get any more information about the name? Thanks.
