He listed The Last Picture Show (Anarene, Texas) as an influence on the film's "Americana" style. And it was shot in various towns in Oklahoma where the movie takes place.
I’m sure it’s been commented before, but all of the extra storm chasers in the movie are legit chasers. I’ve seen a lot of those vehicles while out chasing! The actors even went chasing with scientists beforehand. Also: “Did you say rockets?” 😎
When I first watched your tornado experience I originally thought the horror was losing the Stetson. I'm so glad you managed to recover your tent and art. Tornado? Give me a good Canadian snow storm. No school days were the best.
Tornadoes in the spring, hurricanes in the late summer, blistering heat and lots of bugs in between. But the people are nice and the BBQ is really good, so there's that. Great reaction, Madison - it's really obvious when you've enjoyed the movie lol.
I spent five years in Texas and a summer in Kansas. I can’t even tell you how many times I had a tornado warning and it would say it was heading straight towards me and then it would vanish and show up 5 miles down the road continuing on, but it never actually did anything so, I don’t know if it hates me as much as everybody else does and wants to stay away from me but at this point in my life, I’m like that couple in this movie it’s never a real thing. I’m not worried whatsoever. I was living in Greenville, South Carolina, and the sirens were going off because there was a tornado warning, and everybody was losing their mind panicking and hiding and whatever and I figured we’d be hunkered down for a while so I walked to the kitchen to make some popcorn and get some food out of the fridge because nothing is ever gonna happen. 😂 they couldn’t understand why I wasn’t freaking out and surprise surprise nothing happened. 😂
loved your insight on this -- seems like the setting put you right at home, and you did a great job with the reaction even though you had a similar experience that was still fresh in your mind -- keep it up!
A shame you did not see it in a full size. Big screen full surround sound theater! Really outstanding technical production! I have a 70-in screen at home and around a $10,000 sound system that I put together over a number of years bits and pieces at a time. As good as as it is.... Not close to theatrical experience. Fully immersive! But you did an enjoyable reaction! And gee. What a surprise! You might find hero attractive. Go figure? LOL

Bill Paxtons son is the guy being a jerk at the hotel. I watched this, it was fun enough, I forgot it an hour later. Just hits all the beats from the original to where I ask 'what's the point'? It's a perfectly fine remake, but stick with the original, better film all round.

Notice you do a lot more classic movies than most reactors. Love that. Notice you are missing a great John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara movie THE QUIET MAN actfilmed on location in Ireland. I think you would like it. I saw it first when about 10 in the 80s as my dad was a huge JW fan. It's still my favorite love story today. I watch it at least a couple times a year
The second movie was disgraceful they all but paralleled the first one which what was the point in the sequel the first one was 10 times better the acting was pathetic the protagonist female got many people killed not just her group and then they stopped storm chasing so they can warn people of tornadoes coming, i'm sorry if you don't know ones coming because you're not listening to the news or watching the weather well then you've helped the DNA poll! You don't wanna compare it to the first twister the only similarities is how they copied the complete storyline.
The original is way better. All movies coming out these days are just take offs of the classic originals. Guess nobody has any imagination or talent to make an original movie these days

She watched her friends die before her eyes, felt the fury and lived through the nightmare. He waited a few miles away. Yes, he's traumatized, but he doesn't know the visceral terror of what these people have been through. Sorry, no contest
