I am no royals lover but I can't understand the lynching of H and M when nothing is being said regarding Charles friendship with Savile and the questions surrounding Andrew and his friendship with Epstein.
Perhaps it's because they didn't seek to destroy others and put the blame for their mistakes in judgement on their families. It shows that even the royal family are susceptible to narcissistic manipulation.
I think this is exactly what H&M are trying to say. The negative focus on them is a smoke screen to divert people from thinking about other skeletons in the royal closet. As well as all the other important issues facing the UK.

Sadly the overall British Media and Royal response has been rather pathetic. James is one of the few “center” media personalities I have seen actually defend what is happening to MM. It is incredible that a royal family which claims 1000yrs history cannot get its act together. There is so much to unpack here and I hope Harry and Meghan continue to press for change in how they are covered and the relationship between the press and the Royal Family. I mean which organization is the Head of State? Hasn’t the UK learned anything over the past 50 years?

I agree. I read a journalist piece which confirms that hating on Harry and Meghan esp Meghan is big business for many. We only have to check the Twitter, FB and UA-cam platforms (as well as the tabloids) that have popped up and who deceive their followers while making money from them.
I have no doubt one or 3 of them will now come and accuse us of lying.
I feel for those of weak mind, I truly do.
There is a lot of disfunction within the Royals and the judgements made by the press.
I've spent years coaching teenage boys, we get these young men at an important stage of life and often have to deal with misbehaviour, sometimes very significant behaviour.
So we teach them about apologizing.
An apology is IMMEDIATE ! If it cannot be made in a day or two you are to seek out the offended party and apologize.
An apology is SPECIFIC to a personal action. No waffling, "I said something, did something, didn't do something, and include the DETAILS.
An apology is offered with an offer of COMPENSATION, even if the offer is "I DON"T KNOW HOW TO RIGHT THIS; tell me what I can do to start".
An apology comes with a MEANINGFUL attempt to change the offending behaviour.
It can be humbling to offer a sincere apology, but when you need to give a proper apology it can ( no guarentee) be very helpful and can give you a starting point from which to move on from.
I began drilling this into my son ( now 15 ), not sure if he gets it yet, but he knows all four elements now.
Clarkson FAILED a test he, as a public figure, should do better at.
I think a keyword there is "humbling". It seems to be very difficult for some people to truly humble themselves when necessary

I dont think it was a genuine apology, I think it was an apology wrapped in self interest. I think it was dreadful Buckingham palace, Kensington palace, or st James palace never issued any statement of condemnation, I think that says more about palace methods and policy then any royal biography does.

If he had said that about Diana does anyone honestly think he would have ended up on Top Gear?

It's unbelivable the destain that some people have for Harry & Meghan, I got into an argument with one of my mum's long term friends the other day who's opinion was that he thought Harry was worse than Andrew and that Andrew hadnt done anything wrong because she was 17 and above the legal age of consent and that it's fair play to him for getting with someone younger than himself. I was disgusted by his views and the worst part was that my mum took his side to avoid confrontation and to keep the peace.

Once upon a time when I studied media and journalism at Uni, there was a thing called codes of conduct for journalists and radio/ tv broadcasters.
In conjunction with your observation I would point to the commissioning of The Grand Tour, which I have never watched. Someone saw it as a purely financially lucrative move to employ a man who had just been dismissed from his previous employment for assaulting a co-worker without provocation. The fact that they say they will end their association with Clarkson after he fulfills current commitments clearly indicates that they are not committed to the standards you indicate or they would have dropped him immediately.

I suspect what James might have said that in fact Clarkson emailed Harry rather than Meghan. So even as this piece targeted her but still made room to insult Harry - Clarkson referred to him as ‘Harold’ as William does - he couldn’t bring himself to rightly deliver an apology directly to Meghan who he said he hated with a ‘cellular’ ferocity. No surprise there. Apologies don’t pass for apologies anymore, and something tells me his won’t have been worth the paper they’re written or the utterance.

There’s a HUGE difference between saying ‘I apologise’ and genuinely feeling sorry. Yeah, a lot of people seem to have forgotten that Clarkson only got his gig on Amazon Prime because he committed violence against an employee at his place of work.

When i read the comment on JC statement yesterday, I was more shocked at the vile women who were making nasty comments on Megan. All this hate on these two people because they left the RF. And there currently seems to be awful lot of right wing figures who behave criminally or at the very least on the grey zone and the right wingers are just idolizing them and supportive of these figures.
Meghan got a lot of hate as soon as it was known she was involved with Harry, the hate got worse to the point that she had to leave then she got more hate for explaining why she had to leave. She can’t seem to do anything right. These haters are mad because she married Harry and together they outshined the heir and his wife. The silence of the royal family fueled the hate.
It was the Oprah Winfrey interview that ramped up the hate. Most families dont agree with stitching up your relatives publicly, even if you hate them.

The whole point of someone like Clarkson is that he draws attention, which to his employers means money, ratings, circulation, etc. They don't care. Their marketing may be telling them that Clarkson is a 'draw' and controversy means their product gets more exposure. They don't react to the deterioration in his words and conduct, because it translates to opportunities to push their associated products on the back of Clarkson's notoriety. Only when reputational and financial damage occurs do they start reigning him in. He'll end up on some other company's star line up before long and they'll try to make the most of him while they can.
I think it's amazing that it was published. I have to give it to Clarkson that the stink his article has created has really showed the utter nastiness of the press treatment of MM.

One of the problem nowadays is lack of accountability (from media/tabloid to politicians, society as a whole, etc). What are we teaching to our children? What is the society giving as example? That is a real issue: lack of empathy, of kindness, etc. I am worrying about the mental health of younger generation with what, we, as a society, adult are showing as example.
