What a great lesson. I've been buying on-line lessons for years and love my lessons and the ease of access. But, how nice of you to offer these shorter lessons to folks, many shut in now with limited funds, what a nice gift Tim. Thanks!
You should make a DVD just about painting tons of different cloud paintings. You have the most efficient and powerful way of painting clouds that I've ever seen. Give the people what they want. It would sell like hot cakes. Maybe throw in some Castles in the Clouds, like it's heavenly maybe. Just a thought passing by like a cloud in the sky...
Thanks. Like the grey mix. When I try to make something MORE distant I try to ad white... make it lighter, as it is already bluish. My concern is darkening the distant hill, even making it more blue, will bring it closer, i.e. the blackest black, the MOST contrast, is right in front of you. That said, this was really helpful.
Thank you! Color temperatures are a great way to create distance outside of values. Grays can work better than blues in some cases because it is just a desaturated version of a color. Taking down the chroma will help push things back, and white definitely can play a great part in taking the chroma out of things.
Beautiful! I love watching the progression! I struggle to paint. I’m much better with graphite and charcoal. I’ve been trying but everything always comes out so abstract. You make it look so effortless! Great work!

Are you using acrylics or oils? ❤️
Hey, how about doing a white Egret on a lake for a download.
DO YOU USE ANY MEDIUM? Great commentary on this lesson.
I usually just use a touch of water with my acrylic paintings, but no painting mediums.
