Hi Tim, thank you for this great video. Just a suggestion... if you punch a hole in the middle of the cards before you paint them, then when you hold it up to the sky/whatever you're color matching, you can instantly see the color difference. :) Squinting helps too! I like the idea of a series, and will be watching as they come out!
Hi Tim, thank you so much for posting your time lapse videos and painting tutorials. I am a mixed media artist but within that I do quite a lot of painting and I have learned so much from you and your videos. Your work is very inspiring. Really appreciate you putting in the time :)
I've been trying to make some neon pink, red, and purple and just cannot figure out what we do to get those super-vibrant versions of those colours. I've been struggling with greying out tones so this was quite helpful. Thank you, tim!
Fantastic!! This is exactly what I need, it turns out I am not always very good at picking the colours I really need. For example in my last video the painting ended up entirrely different from what I originally envisioned... Still pretty happy with the result though!
Hi Tim, this video really is good because I want to do the painting and charters exétieur you showed us to be really useful for my paintings ... thank you for this video and I look forward to other than you going to do on other colors ...
Hi there Tim! I just found you today and have already watched a few of your "What's That Color?" episodes...my most painful aspect of painting (as a beginner) is trying to figure out 'what that color' is...so thank you. My question however is about the painting in your background: How do you get those beautiful stripes so crisp and even? I started (then put aside for now) a painting with very light black/gray background stripes but I couldn't get them to be crisp like you have here. Did you tape it out somehow or is that just your steady hand? Please unlock this secret, I'd love to finish that painting I started (then put aside for now!) :)
I think this would be helpful too for when you need to match an already dried color on your canvas. I hate it when I run out of paint and then have to try and figure out how I made a certain color. This way you see how it looks dried first.
Not for this one. I'll try to do a lesson on that one in the future. It just takes a long time to do a painting like that, so the lesson would be really long :).
YESS I have the WORST ugly handwriting! Maybe it's the artist in me? I have always just thought I was lazy or impatient, could not write as fast as I was thinking. Thank you for your great teaching videos! xo
cool some of those paints looked very runny to me. were they artist quality or school paints? just curious....have you used 'atelier interactive' paints tim?
They are professional series. Acrylics come in a variety of consistencies. There are fluid, soft body, and heavy body. The ones I use in this video are fluid. The fluid paints I use (made by Golden) are highly pigmented. The only major difference between them and heavy body is the consistency.
I have used the interactive paints by Atelier and open paints made by Golden. I prefer regular acrylics because I don't like the tacky sticky stage that the "open" colors go through when they dry.
thanks for the reply. atelier also have locking and unlocking formulas, but i hear what you are saying. golden are hard to get here in australia, so ive not yet tried them. cheers mate.

the brilliant blue is so pretty ;______: i need that color in my life ;_____:
It is a great color!
Thanks
I’d like a green demo.
Artists are supposed to have beautiful handwriting. That's because they have better control of their hand muscles.
lol, I think it's more about effort than ability :)
