And unlike many successful bands, the earlier albums didn't suck. They're not a cliche sounding 80s sound either. You could probably release half of their songs today and they would still chart.
INXS was a phenomenal band!! Michael Hutchence was so charismatic and dynamic. Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of his death. R.I.P. Michael🖤Gone way too soon.
@@sandgroperwookiee65 not the same robert plant was great live but he didn't have the same sensual sexy energy that Michael and jim had on stage - saw both Robert and Michael in concert and the reaction from the audience - no comparison
They were so ahead of their era. Beyond talented group. Their live performances are even better than the studio versions, like "What You Need", "New Sensation" (Wembley, 1991). Michael's vocals and stage presence were da thing. Oh and that damned divine saxophone. Some of their most famous songs, Never Tear us Apart, Devil Inside, By My Side, Original Sin, Suicide Blonde, Mystify, Good Times with Jimmy Barnes.
I was in my early 20's when this came out, and being old enough to drink, I went out clubbing and dancing quite a lot. Inxs was in my car and in the player, a lot, and of course it was Kick. I had forgotten how the video looked, and now I have to laugh at myself. All the ladies LOVED Michael Hutchins back then and watching this vid now, All I see is him, and when the other guys faces pop in on the vid, it seems a little off putting. It's like I am in a fantasy and my mom walks in my bedroom and destroys the mood!!
This album was huge when it came out and for years afterwards. It was one of those albums that you could put on and you knew that everyone was going to like it. Michael Hutchence was such an amazing frontman. He had so much charisma and was sexy as hell.
This is one of my favorite bands of my teen years. I had a HUGE crush on Michael Hutchence. I was so incredibly shocked and sad when he passed away. He committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room. Such a great looking man with a great voice. R.I.P Michael Hutchence
I went to a party in Belgium when I was a kid. The French-speaking Belgian kids sat on one side of the room. The American kids sat on the other side. Most of us weren't biligual, so we were too afraid to interact. When the DJ played 'Need You Tonight,' EVERYONE screamed and got their butts out on the floor. The party was on! We danced all night.
In my opinion there is a difference between “boy bands” and bands like this. As someone who was a teen in the 80s, a “boy band” would be 4 or 5 guys who could sing pop songs and harmonize- and not necessarily play instruments (think Backstreet Boys or NSync). Great in their wheelhouse, but not a rock band like INXS or Duran Duran. Those fellows played instruments and wrote their own songs. Quite a talented difference!
I'm a metal head, but I always liked INXS. It's interesting that they are labeled as new wave and pop, because I always considered them simply as Rock. While they do have plenty of softer or funky hits, I'll request for reaction their hits where they rocked out a bit: Devil Inside, What You Need, and two songs that started it all 40 years ago: The One Thing and Don't Change (this one is my favorite). Besides a hilarious name, the bassist laid down some awesome lines.
Billboard Magazine stats: #1 Hot 100 (Their first and only US #1 hit) #73 Black Singles Chart #2 Song of 1987 (behind "Walk Like An Egyptian" by The Bangles) On a personal note: Having been raised mainly on R&B, this song officially got me rocking full time.
Good point about the number of hooks. The popularity of the video is all about Michael's sex appeal which is also apparent in "Suicide Blonde" live at Wembley 1991, along with his incredible voice.
This was a #1 song here in the USA, Billboard’s Hot 100, and it is their only #1 song to date, but these guys are so talented, and I miss Michael so much.
One of my all time favorite bands and frontmen…All incredibly talented with an incredibly sensual, charismatic and sexy frontman, with a sexy voice to boot !!! All their songs were catchy, and meaningful
Hi from Australia. Great to see you reacting to INXS. You might enjoy Devil Inside, Don't Change, and Never Tear Us Apart (sax for Ryan). There are so many great songs. Michael Hutchence was the consummate front man. Charismatic, mysterious, handsome and so talented. RIP Michael.
Never Tear Us Apart is their greatest song. They were part of the 80s movement called Nu Wave. They were big along with Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, Kajagoogoo and many other lesser known groups. RIP Michael Hutchins
This is one of the ultimate "booty call" songs...right along with Foreigner's "Urgent" and Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight". Great songs in their own ways.
To do them justice you really need to listen to more of them. Don't get me wrong anyone...I love this song but it is one of their more simple ones. They have others that are dynamic, great sax and all round perfect musicianship...and of course Michael!
Such a sad ending to an incredible talent. I grew up on MTV, when it was new. That video was spliced and created by students. No one had made a video like it, artistically before. Sadly he suffered a brain injury from being sucker punched in Denmark with his love, Helena Christenson. (Famous model, in Chris Isaak's video) That injury sent him into a deep depression because he lost all sense of smell, thus taste. Plus it was a TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury. He was on Prozac, when it was new, mixed with alcohol and cocaine, and lack of sleep when he hung himself in that hotel room. Add TBI and it made for the perfect storm for suicide, not to mention his life with a certain woman, who just had his child months before, screwing up his ability to be with his baby girl due to divorce and previous children custody issues with Sir Bob Geldof's kids, her ex. Yes, TMI.
Wow great song! I remember when it came out. Hutchence nails this with his sexy performance and that pounding beat. A big hit with the ladies☺ Thanks guys for posting this - love your reactions and watching you move to the beat too🧡
Love this band. Michael Hutchence had a great voice and appeal. Another one lost too soon. This is my favorite of theirs and I also love "Never Tear Us Apart" which has a little something for Ryan in it. That would be my suggestion for your next reaction. But all their songs are great, so you can't go wrong with anything you pick.
There was a time ( a very long time) that it was hard to escape this song, this band, even if you wanted to. Another classic song from across the ditch. And, lets be real here, what a damn hunk! Thanks, that woke this old lady up :-)
Glad to see you gents have reached the Aussie Gold Mine of INXS you are going to be blown away with how many awesome songs they had and huge and influential they were. Michael Hutchins was one of the all time top Sexual Icons in the 80's and when his death came people were so shocked because it was not due to Drug overdose like usual but by suicide . Funny that you said this sounded like a pre chorus because it actually is one of the only songs I have heard of or found that had a continuing song and video that most often accompanied this song called "Mediate" which was their prime version of a rap song for the times and it was absolutely brilliant and I hope you definitely cover it next. I can't wait until you get to some of their other songs like New Sensation my personal favorite and others like Never Tear Us Apart, Suicide Blonde and one of their earliest Hits if not the 1st and still one of may favorites of theirs that nobody on UA-cam has covered that I know of called "The One Thing". You can tell how young they were and the electricity of it because it was just when MTV had started and that song was on regular rotation which meant it probably got played 12-20 times a day. Thanks for covering this a great choice and I can't wait to see you deep dive further into this wonderous group of the most magical decade in Music and other areas the 80's! 😀
This track is one big seduction. Was great you picked up on that :) My favourite part is when Michael screams out "I'm lonely!" and the female model gasps and turns her head. So cool.
Hey Boys, Here's a person from Australia his name is John Farnham. I know you are brilliant at understanding of Singer's. He sung a song around the late eighties from the Beatles. Help is the song sung live I challenge you to reaction and not to like his voice. Love your work
They'd been around for years and were well known, but in the late 80s they ruled the world...top couple bands in the world. Hit after hit after hit after hit.
You forgot Snore (Kirk Pengilly) who did main backing vocals, sax and guitar. I think this was the first album I ever bought. My path has quite inexplicably crossed with - or connected to - this band and its members, past and present, multiple times ever since. Hard to go for a drink in Double Bay without thinking of Hutch.
Great reaction guys...a song of absolute Aussie gold is It's a Long Way There by Little River Band...I guarantee will transform your musical lives..! Harmonies and musicianship will take you all on one hell of a journey... the best 8 minutes of your lives (well almost..!)
Written by the late Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss. Produced by Chris Thomas. This song won sampled. The opening guitar riff was interpolated into the Dua Lipa song Break My Heart 💔.
The best INXS video is Never Tear Us Apart. There best song? I'm broken on this one because I grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney when they were growing that talent. I saw so many INXS pub gigs while underage. and they have been in my life for so long with so many magic songs, but Johnsons Airplane from The Swing is possibly my favourite, or is it Mystify. But Never Tear Us Apart is one of the best music videos ever. Go and watch it if you liked this
You need to watch all the clips from Live Baby Live at Wembley. Sold out 100 000 ppl every show. Home grown Aussie band that made it worldwide. I was too young to see them live in Sydney b4 Micheal passed. Gone too soon . RIP
Michael Hutchence ...So HOT! RIP....
One of the greatest bands of the 80’s
I was born in the 90’s but grew up on 80’s music.
Without question.
Amazing. Just... they were Amazing.
Easily.
I think it's safe to say that INXS was highly underrated. So much damn talent in that band.
God damn I miss the 80's and 90's..
And unlike many successful bands, the earlier albums didn't suck. They're not a cliche sounding 80s sound either. You could probably release half of their songs today and they would still chart.
Must do Never Tear Us Apart...some great guitar and sax!❤
The singer reminds me of Jim Morrison, 80's style.
Incredible band.
Aussie rock royalty

Michael Hutchence! ❤😢❤😢❤

Yep...& Robert Plant
I have thought that many times mate. Unfortunately i only got to see Michael on stage

Beautiful Michael. RIP
"Never Tear Us Apart", "Mystify", "Suicide Blonde", "New Sensation", "Devil Inside", "Beautiful Girl" etc.
Michael Hutchence was one of the best showmen ever! Such a loss to no longer have him with us! RIP Michael
So good. "Everything's a hook." I'm 68, thinking, their looks are also a hook. 😄

Saw the Kick tour when I was 16. Michael sweated on me and I swore I'd never wash my face again. Totally bathed that night.
The ladies made it one of the most popular videos. 😍
RIP Michael we miss you 😍😍😍
Love this video because we have pet rats & you can tell by the way he was handling that rat, the rat was comfortable with him & probably his pet. 🥰
You gotta listen to their catalog awesome
Great band, "Never tear us apart" one of their best songs!

Inxs was everything in the 80's. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1987 in New Orleans. This concert is by favorite of that era.
