An army-vs-army war is not counted as inhuman or barbaric. And that's the difference between Ashoka and the foreign invaders who attacked India. The invaders would indulge in atrocities against civilians and would commit arson - destroying temples, universities, libraries, and even entire cities. The invaders would selectively target Hindus. I have not heard of Ashoka targeting civilians or their properties just because they followed a particular religion.
So, don't downplay the barbarism of the invaders by saying "medieval violence is just medieval violence". That is the typical leftist-commie narrative about Indian history.

It's fine actually it was clear that she had different views but it was a fair interview. She challenged him and sometimes conveniently moved on but she gave him the respect he deserves and conceded where she felt he was right.
