Good vid. Very helpful! All the videos posted except for this one is installing the coolant bypass with the transmission out. Will definitely be throwing a video up on my channel doing this on my 4th gen in the near future! Keep on doing whatcha doing brother🤘👍
Out of curiosity - does this get rid of that POS silicone heater hose that connects the 2 lines or does that stay? Was hard to tell from the camera angle.
Thanks for posting your video installing the Cummins Coolant Bypass Kit. Your video was better then some of the other ones that are out there and your video may be the only one I've seen where the install is done with the motor and tranny in place. I was going to separate the motor and tranny to get access to that back frost plug. It looks like you have a Generation 3 Cummins as your block and valve cover looks the same as mine. That new black pipe your showing at 6:49 seems to have a crimp at one end and I'm wondering if that is a block-off of some sort...? Now, at 13:12 to 14:10 I see that hose near where you mounted the 2nd clamp and that looks like the same set-up I have. The only thing that's unknown to me is where are all the locations that the older set-up was blocked off or re-routed. I'm trying to get a thorough understanding of the re-routes and block-offs of the lines before I start this project, I'd appreciate any comments you may have on your project that might clarify this job.
BigRed56 You aren rerouting any lines. Only replacing or installing. Yes mine is a 07 3rd gen. The job isn't hard at all and they also have directions i was just impatient before mine arrived. I'll try to answer anything i can
It was so awesome to read your note when you wrote that the truck was an 07 3rd gen... I think I can do this kit install but even though it's not necessary - I'm going to remove the Transmission Torque Converter Oil Cooler right out of the picture. Those nasty backplate bolts on the Oil Cooler on the left side were tricky to remove. I took the starter off to get at them. The third backplate mount on the right side of "oil cooler" have two nuts to deal with and they are rusted in place and real difficult to remove. I stripped the left one and the smaller nut on the right of that two way bolt and nut combination are not moving. I'll have to keep working in it till it gives way. That gives me a few days till the delete kit arrives.
I did it to my 07. It was not that easy. That little orange sylicone hose glues itself to the tube so it has to be razor bladed off. Unfortunately a new dealer replacement was like $50 if I remember correctly. Use antisense take your time and START MONITORING TRANS TEMPS without that exchanger. I wish I would have recorded them before deleting the exchanger. I was seeing temps spike up to 240 degrees on a hot day out of the converter and installed an axillary fan for piece of mind.
like i said when i talked about doing the fleece by-pass for a 2nd gen: what a mother it is to do this job with the tranny in. but hey, great job on your video---i'm sure it's gonna help a lot of guys. be cool
@@FlaGatorL I just don't want the headache of having to change it when it goes bad, installing this system is going to be a pain. I believe it would be worth a try. Thx
I’m about to attempt this . Glad to see someone actually attack this with the transmission in
Great Job! you explained enough for those who want to do this job. Obviously not easy ... but doable! Liked !!

lincoln_johns Just trying to help out thanks
If you take the transmission cross member out, it will allow the trans to drop down, and hence the engine will tip back as well.

Good video doing this on my 2020 today

BigRed56 6:49 the crimp part is where it used to go to the heat exchanger. No longer needed. And you won't have this if you have a manual truck.

It wasn't the worst job ive ever done haha.
@drywall308 back
Awesome job going solo my bro!!! What year and type of engine is that? Thanks and cute little girl too!!
07 5.9
Wonder if you can run this without the thermostat?
Not sure. But the engine might not heat up to the right temp.
