I almost paid someone $700 to replace this. I searched how to replace hydroboost unit 2004 5.9 cummins. This AMAZING video popped up! THANK You for explaining what you’re GOING to do, and then ACTUALLY doing it. I can’t stand other mechanic videos that just tell You, and don’t show You what they’re doing. You’re a life saver!!

I have watched many how to videos for my Ram diesel, my boat, motorcycle etc. You are a natural born teacher, no bs just "how to". Great Job! My truck just sprang identical leak inside cab as you described.
My 03 Ram 5.9-2500 6 spd has 350K miles and I bought the truck brand new.
I always wanted a classic pick up, just never imagined I would buy a new truck and wait for it to be a classic. (no more standard transmissions on 3/4 or 1 ton trucks any more either :(

Being here at the dealership.....I remember those $30,000-$40,000 and thought how expensive they were and now I see them on Facebook Market place for like $500 needing lots of work lol. We use to see cars with no a/c and roll up windows....those are getting fewer and fewer. Heck every car had a spare tire back in the day and you could check your own trans fluid as well. But on the other side of the coin we still run a small transmission that we had back in the 80's still! Actually this is its last year but man.....30-40 year run on the same basic trans in the smalled front wheel drive vehicles is something else. Thanks Chris for reaching out and for the kind words. Make sure to subscribe.

Bro thank you so much. I'm Def tackling this job. I'm not paying someone to do this... it's making my steering tight and my break pedal tight and it whines with a weird sound when I press the breaks to hard or steer to far left and right. I replaced my steering box with a new one and I replaced my steering components well as breaks. And it's still making noise and hard to turn. So I'm guessing this is the issue...

Your Insight in the top inside bolt of the master cylinder to hydrobooster, it does not reverse out regularly I think the top of the threads on that bolt are different? and how yo get a difficult to stuck bolt out of this situation since there is very little room for leverage on a open end wrench or even a ratchet wrench.

Great video. I am having an issue with 2014 ram 2500. I have a “whining” noise coming from the steering and brakes. I’ve already replaced the PS pump and the problem is still there. I am going to try the booster next and hopefully it fixes the issue. I paid the shop to do the pump but after watching this video I’m confident I can tackle the booster myself. Thank you for making such an amazing video that’s easy to follow. Keep em coming!

Hey guys, how do you determine if it’s the power steering pump or the hydro booster? My brakes have a weird feel and I’m getting the whining that sounds like a bad power steering pump when I turn the wheel. I also have a whine just on idle and more so when I press the brakes. I’m assuming it’s the hydro booster but a little confirmation or a process to determine which is on the outs definitively would be great. And great video bud!! Bit of an amateur but I think I’ll give it a go.

Depending on the year.....make sure the pressure line going to the unit doesnt have the nylon liner separated. If you take the line loose and the nylon tube is seen then the hose needs replacing, typically it causes a noise.

Got just 1 pro tip and the only reason I feel i can say that is now I’ve had to do it twice when removing and replacing the hydro boost their is a rod that goes between the master cylinder and in the hydro booster if the new one doesn’t have it you must remove the old one and install it before installing the new hydro booster in the truck trust me on this check twice before installing for all your other viewing this might not have caught that but everything else is spot on

Replaced the booster unit, no leaks, steering is fine, now my brakes are "spongey", brake pedal not as firm as it was before. Did not break loose any of the brake lines, so any ideas?

The plate on mine wasnt sandwiched, it was in front of the master cylinder making it almost impossible to get off. Im not sure how it was put on in front of the master cylinder, but it made this 10 times harder. Also, ive got hard steel lines on my 2004 3500, the master cylinder can only move so much before those are comprimised. Fml im broke down and this video makes it look so easy but in my case its a pain in the ass.

Have a 01 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel. Push the brakes sometimes it stops, sometimes it doesn't. Start braking and then the pedal just kind of goes crazy, push harder and the pedal pushs back. I have let off and push again or put it in neutral to stop.

I just replaced mine on a 2015 . The new one said to take out my old push rod and spring and install in the new one e en the new one had its own . Well I didn’t and it caused problems. Cruise control and other were inop. It turns out that the push rod in the new pump was to short and kicked in a safety feature on the truck .

Mine is leaking from what I would call a weep hole at the bottom of the booster. What might cause it to leak from there? But definitely will be using this video to replace the booster pump since it is making the whining noise and leaking fluid
