    Great video. I actually had the Tamiya RC Full Option Kit of the Jagdpanther and the same in the Panther G. I did end up selling them but I really regret it now.
    I fitted Aber side skirts to both tanks and I must say that they looked awesome.
    On the Jagdpanther I used a aftermarket alloy main gun trunnion and a upmarket alloy main gun barrel and numerous aftermarket parts.

    Great work Andy. You use simple techniques to get outstanding results that are not overdone. Rust and chipping in particular are two areas I feel are way overdone much of the time and I appreciate your less-is-more approach. Those tracks are some of the best examples of weathered metal I have seen. Really nice.

    Just as a tip. I have found, that when I was rigging a model of HMS Victory, the thread was very hairy. So, I mixed some PVA glue with water, making a mixture that was the consistency of milk. I then wet my thumb and forefinger with the glue and ran the thread between them. This caused the minute hairs to bond to the thread. Being PVA, it does not take long to dry. The added bonus being that the, now dry, PVA acted as primer coat for paint.

    Just rewatched the video. I have started painting my Heng long Jagdpanther. I think it will ended up very much like Andy's. I plan to follow his paint scheme, as I like it. I'm up to starting the green camo. By the time I have finished it, it will be more Taigen than Henglong. Thanks to Andy for giving me the idea and for inspiring me to take up tank modeling. I'm finding it very rewarding. I also really like Andy's methods. Simple and creative at the same time.

    Considering the scale, those spare tracks should've been drilled out.
    Now they're left with a huge track pin end and lug, but no actual pin going through the track..
    But it's basically just Tamiya's old 1/35 kit scaled up - take that statement whichever way you want.
    Anywho, great work as usual, Andy. :)

    • @jagervw
      @jagervw 7 років тому

      I too would suggest next time you drill out the spare track links on the bottom that would have had a pin installed otherwise.

    I'd like to share a tip that has served me well for decades. After you've put down your decals instead of using Q-tips I use a sponge. I give the decal solution time to work and then I press straight down with the sponge. I can get a painted on look on zimmerite every time ! You may have to do it more than once especially if the area required a solvent.

    Terrific as always. How you manage decals over dull coat without silvering is beyond me. I use the Tamiya strong also on my decals and they come out fantastic, but they won't unless I gloss coat first, THEN add decals. After the decals are dry I weather it up with pastel chalks and paint pigments then dull coat. Of course, mine don't look as good as yours do, but I'm happy with them.
    Great video, very informative as always,
    Cheers! 👍🏻

    A little tip for those string tow cables - I thin some PVA and work it into the tread before cutting it to length and painting it. It makes it much more like steel, and loses the hairy surface!

      i would never start with a black base as a primer, but i get more attracted to it, i usually start with a light gray, then building up the shades, preshades, but you eventually forget some parts shading. Next model i will start with black, then white, en then i will put on the base color, see what that looks like. thx for the inspirarition Andy!

    You should add some brown pigment streaking out from behind the gun to add gun smoke effect.
