    Dear Andy
I've recently returned to this wonderful hobby after 25 years. Now in my forties I have a lot more patience and I want to finish my models as well as possible. Your channel is by far the best thing I've discovered. Your videos make the techniques so easy to understand and your video quality is top-notch. I can't wait to build my own Jagdtiger.
    Keep up the awesome work!

seems to me those are dragon sprue,s. its exactly the same, its not the first and not the last time modelmakers use the same sort of moulds with different color plastic. maybe they use some of their own ideas, but thats it.
cyberhobby and takom do exactly the same both use the old dragon moulds.
torro and hobbyboss 1/16 tiger , same mold different color plastic.
i don,t have a problem with it, good is good, but credit must be credited to the right maker.
and since you can,t have all the models from all the makers you can compare them simply, and thats where the money is made.
mouldmaking and mouldusing is very much like making a song and covering a song.
you can change it up a bit, you can even improve on it, but its still not your song.

      if you think so,
i build a jagdtiger from dragon and it has the same sprue form.
everybody has their own favorite modelmaker, me don,t care about that stuff
i know from my local hobbystore manager that its very common to buy each others molds, change them up a bit and then pass it on as your own.
and even if they don,t i still don,t care, i like them anyways.
quality of trumpeteer, dragon, tamiya ,meng is outstanding , not many others are that good.

I never knew Nutcracker music could make such an amazing soundtrack for building tanks! I actually found myself humming The Blue Danube while working on a chieftain yesterday.
Keep up the videos! I've been inspired to finally dig into a mass of kits that I've accumulated over the years but haven't made the time to build till now. Got addicted to Gundams.

Great music at 1:58. When I was in 5th grade my class took a field trip to listen to music like this and all the classics. 1812 Overture Flight of The Valkyrie Flight of the Bumblebee etc. To this day I enjoy what my folks once called longhair music. Barely a year or 2 later *the longhairs brought to America the Beatles Rolling Stones Buffalo Springfield and all the others.*

The trick to working with small parts is to cover an area of your bench with tape facing up. I use gaffers tape. This way if you drop a piece instead of it bouncing it gets stuck on the tape.

When you put on decals they always adhere better on a glossy surface. You run the risk of the decals silvering when they are applied to a flat painted surface. I would have applied an acrylic clear gloss before I put on the decals, and then an acrylic clear dull coat over the finished decals. I like this model and I've always liked Tamiya tank kits.

  • @Raptoricus
    @Raptoricus 8 років тому

Brilliant work! One thing I noticed though is that your pre-shading is kind of lost by the time you've added the extra colours of camouflage over the base camouflage yellow.
Have you considered roughly masking over the preshading rather than adding each camo colour on top of each other - so do each camo colour one at a time rather than over a yellow base.
You can't argue with how it ended up looking, simply fantastic, but just a thought!

Pictures I've seen of German armor coming from the factory were mostly painted the dark yellow. My question I guess is they were primed red oxide then base coated Greman dark yellow , were the fenders installed after the dark yellow or before? If the dark yellow was painted after installation wouldn't the red oxide be showing if a section of fender was lost? I did a King Tiger and left off a section or 2 of fender and had red oxide showing where it would have been attached. A little weathering and dirt it looks pretty good. What's your take?

Hello Andy, I found your channel about a month ago and it persuaded me to get back to building models. Based upon this video, I got the Tamiya Jagdtiger and I have a question if I may. Do I understand it correctly that, for some unknown reason, Tamiya decided to separate the road wheel halfs into three parts? One half consisting of an outer and inner one? And that the inned one is molded really unfortunately and you have to clean every single one to fit in? I think that such an overight from Tamiya's side should be mentioned, especially when you describe the wheels in quite a detail. I am currently building the ICM Tiger II and it has all road wheels half in one piece. As well as other King Tiger models I saw. On the other hand, the ICM /Revell Tiger II has quite a big problem with the engine cover which does not fit at all. Thank you.

As a modeler (who admittedly isn’t at the skill level of some of the UA-cam masters here) I prefer imaginings of vehicles which don’t have direct historical derivation. This model is a perfect example. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with building a historically famous rendering of a real vehicle like “331”, but then everyone does it and does mostly the same thing. I should think that there must be two schools of thought on this subject. My preference is to build vehicles which were, let’s say, part of 331’s unit, but did not receive much publicity. 331 earned its fame by its big U.S. tour from Aberdeen to Benning. Not a moneymaking tour like Van Halen’s 1984 American tour, but nonetheless a tour which has earned the destroyer fame in scale model universe. But at some point, seemingly everyone building the same tank or vehicle kind of gets boring no matter how well the job is done, no? Again, this is no knock on the artist or modeler. There’s nothing wrong with rendering a famous build. It’s like saying paintings of Napoleon shouldn’t be done and I’m not saying that. But I am saying that apart from the modelers skills, the choice of subject matter is very important. If not for this idea there would be no Mona Lisa. So, I would like other modelers to weigh in on this argument. Comments condemning me for knocking the modelers video or subject will not be read or responded to as they are non sequitur as I have made the caveat that I am joy criticizing people like Andy for making 331. My argument is why not build a conceptual “332” instead? Also, arguing that these kits ARE only historically famous vehicles are weak as a modeler can depart from any kit’s instructions. Decals and stencils can replace kit decals. This is not to say that some YT modelers aren’t doing what I,m arguing for. Some do. But not nearly enough. So, how about it.?

I intend to start in the plastic model this year, and I have a doubt: the kits from Revell are good?

Deathstalker 007 This is a pretty late answer but I usually consider them "beginner kits". Most of them are pretty easy to build but they also often lack in detail and/or quality of the parts. So..I think that if youre just starting and youre not sure about your abilities they arent that bad as you might fuck up your first kit

hello, lovely video as always, i had somequestions about a problem I had a little while ago that's been bugging me
revell makes figures in a strange soft rubbery type plastic that does do not bond with tamiya cement. I was wondering if you could provide some insight on why this is and what cement I should use with it
    thanks

many European manufacturers use a softer plastic to get better detail , I don't why the Chinese companies get great detail out of regular plastic. Super glue will work on them

Well, technically you weren't wrong Andy, the Jagdtiger were based on a lengthend King Tiger chassis.
