Dear Andy
I've recently returned to this wonderful hobby after 25 years. Now in my forties I have a lot more patience and I want to finish my models as well as possible. Your channel is by far the best thing I've discovered. Your videos make the techniques so easy to understand and your video quality is top-notch. I can't wait to build my own Jagdtiger.
Keep up the awesome work!
How's the moddeling going so far in these past few years?
You're the reason I tried hobby modeling :)
really great build Andy. got to love Tamiya there just the best engineered kits out there.
seems to me those are dragon sprue,s. its exactly the same, its not the first and not the last time modelmakers use the same sort of moulds with different color plastic. maybe they use some of their own ideas, but thats it.
cyberhobby and takom do exactly the same both use the old dragon moulds.
torro and hobbyboss 1/16 tiger , same mold different color plastic.
i don,t have a problem with it, good is good, but credit must be credited to the right maker.
and since you can,t have all the models from all the makers you can compare them simply, and thats where the money is made.
mouldmaking and mouldusing is very much like making a song and covering a song.
you can change it up a bit, you can even improve on it, but its still not your song.
if you think so,
i build a jagdtiger from dragon and it has the same sprue form.
everybody has their own favorite modelmaker, me don,t care about that stuff
i know from my local hobbystore manager that its very common to buy each others molds, change them up a bit and then pass it on as your own.
and even if they don,t i still don,t care, i like them anyways.
quality of trumpeteer, dragon, tamiya ,meng is outstanding , not many others are that good.
*they're
Yes some brands use the same stamp/sprue but I think Tamiya use theyr own made sprue. When they rebox few italeri models the sprues come from italy
I never knew Nutcracker music could make such an amazing soundtrack for building tanks! I actually found myself humming The Blue Danube while working on a chieftain yesterday.
Keep up the videos! I've been inspired to finally dig into a mass of kits that I've accumulated over the years but haven't made the time to build till now. Got addicted to Gundams.
What I love about this kit is that it goes together so quickly
yes that's Tamiya, Thank you for watching
why are these videos so interesting? like I've watched idk how many today. I've tried my hand at this with a ford mustang. and failed miserably. but I enjoy watching this.
I love how often you build new kits, you must be a fast builder!
Andy says he knocks models out in A WEEK!!!! tgat is crazy
Outstanding video, build and presentation to wathach again after a few years. Thank you Andy!
Amazing attention to detail as always. Can't wait for what's next!
Thank you for watching
This will be very helpful when I build my Tamiya 1/35 scale Jagdpanther. Nice work. While there are thousands of different ways to paint and weather a military vehicle, I like the subtle treatment best.
Good video Andy. It's been about 50 years since I built my last model. I think I'll get back into it,..... really enjoyed how you painted the tank. Cheers from Canada.
One of the best kits you have ever build
Could you please do some british tanks: Churchill/Matilda/Cromwell/M3 Grant/Universal Carrier. I really like them and your tank looks really good so please build them.
I build the Mk. VII Churchill and its a wonderful kit
Thank you I will be doing some british Tamiya armor soon
+Andy's Hobby Headquarters well i am looking forward to that
I have this kit on my desk right now! I just finished painting the camo and I'm currently working on painting the details like tools and cables. A really nice kit to work with.
Great music at 1:58. When I was in 5th grade my class took a field trip to listen to music like this and all the classics. 1812 Overture Flight of The Valkyrie Flight of the Bumblebee etc. To this day I enjoy what my folks once called longhair music. Barely a year or 2 later *the longhairs brought to America the Beatles Rolling Stones Buffalo Springfield and all the others.*
Really great looking kit and as always with Tamiya the kits just fall into place
Love the weathering effects
I learnt so much about modelling from you great inspiration
Outstanding video and presentation.
Great video Andy, respect for your work!
Wish their was more stores like this where I live, I do have a tamiya store, I'll have to check it out. I love this!
Rubberband tracks... Tamiya need to lift their game in the track department
Dude knows his stuff and does amazing work
Great build Andy! I'm actually working on the Dragon kit and I'm hook to it cause it's awesome but I can't wait to get my hands on the Tamiya one. Please keep the videos coming!!!
Great Video. Glad to see the Jagdtiger, I've got one coming and always nice to have a look before building.
Thank you
Like the way you do your models, not too technical and "artistic" but just great for the kind of modeler who does it like me,for self gratification and not to serious.
Loved the video Andy nice work
Love your Channel, Love your Videos, Love your Techniques ... Wot Mo Can I Say - except a BIG THANK YOU for sharing with us. Your Videos remind me of my Teenage Years when I was very passionate about assembling Tamiya AFV's and Military Miniatures.
This is my new favorite channel, I'm learning so much!
Amazing Andy
great tank model!
Great build!
Do the tamiya Somua s35 please
I tend to use regular Tamiya cement on really teeny-tiny parts because it is more viscous and holds the part in place while the cement dries. Just a tiny dot is all that is needed.
GREAT WORK!
15:34 inside crew open hatch: "hmmmm do somebody said luftwaffles???"
I always have this phobia of doing small parts. Sometimes it just fly off my twizzers and into the never to be found zone :(
Happens to me too
oh you dont even know how bad it is with 1:72 scale models xDDD its awful
@@bloro2812 thats why i stick w 1 35 and 1 16
@@bloro2812 1: 350 ships is hell
The trick to working with small parts is to cover an area of your bench with tape facing up. I use gaffers tape. This way if you drop a piece instead of it bouncing it gets stuck on the tape.
Nice work, Andy) 👍
I built a Tamiya Jagdtiger as a kid in the 1980s, so this must be a product update? Hmm, maybe build this one too?
Best channel on youtube. Thank you for the great content!
Thank you
When you put on decals they always adhere better on a glossy surface. You run the risk of the decals silvering when they are applied to a flat painted surface. I would have applied an acrylic clear gloss before I put on the decals, and then an acrylic clear dull coat over the finished decals. I like this model and I've always liked Tamiya tank kits.
Brilliant work! One thing I noticed though is that your pre-shading is kind of lost by the time you've added the extra colours of camouflage over the base camouflage yellow.
Have you considered roughly masking over the preshading rather than adding each camo colour on top of each other - so do each camo colour one at a time rather than over a yellow base.
You can't argue with how it ended up looking, simply fantastic, but just a thought!
.Awesome Andy.>!
Happy New Year 2020. Thank you Andy. Looking forward to visiting your store in Glendale, Arizona again soon to purchase two more kits (armor, of course!), and more paint.
its awesome tank Andy love it plz make more videos soon ty
What a beast. Steve U.K. P.S keep up the good work.
Excellent job & video too!!
Hi, when I paint thd German 3 tone camo. pattern l usually cut out the colour band patterns from Tamiya modelling tape, works pretty well, wish I could figure out how to use an airbrush, a bit of a pain to clean up after using each colour tho. I think.
Great vid ' keep 'em comming
Great video andy, built this kit myself and i love it. Keep it up. 👍🏻
Thank you
very nice video again and nice paintjob
hello andy
great video, s
greeting from the netherlands
Question if you don’t mind Andy. You make reference to CA glue for securing the photo etch parts to the plastic kit. Would that be what we in Britain call “Super glue”?. Brilliant channel by the way, love what you do with the kits you build.
Hi! Another nice build! i would be interesting if you try to build ship models
I use to build ships maybe in the future I will again
22,020 views now. Your videos are some of the best (OOTB) Out Of The Box builds that I have seen. Very easy to understand and enjoyable to watch.

Great job Andy and as I've said earlier wonderful music.

@@itsmeracoon7907 sheesh calm down, some (ppl) people wont know what that means. Lol
Thanks for the video great work
Epic work Andy Ray from uk
2021 just about to build this very same tank
Great video.
Thank you
great build brother!!
Thank you
nice
Your videos are an invaluable help Andy. However, this kit gives you the choice between A, B, C, and D 'models', and also when it comes to wheel assembly A or B. Which assembly of wheels did you choose?
Very good :)
good work dude ;)
good
Nice build! Could you maybe do an aircraft build?
Pictures I've seen of German armor coming from the factory were mostly painted the dark yellow. My question I guess is they were primed red oxide then base coated Greman dark yellow , were the fenders installed after the dark yellow or before? If the dark yellow was painted after installation wouldn't the red oxide be showing if a section of fender was lost? I did a King Tiger and left off a section or 2 of fender and had red oxide showing where it would have been attached. A little weathering and dirt it looks pretty good. What's your take?
Maybe use a uniform coloured background so we can see the damn thing instead of the overspray box bottom. It's literally camouflaged.
I really want to start on my Tiger II Ardennes Front kit bit dang it exams xD
yea I have the same kit, waiting to build also, the one with the 3 figures and german motorcycle ? will look great in a diorama
+Subzero2151 Yup :D
I might be starting one of the those kits real soon
+Andy's Hobby Headquarters Could you do it in only brush method? That would be cool :D
Remember tiger 2 really wasn't that good to few and not reliable.
Very intericate and meticulous. But wonderful indeed.
You could use panel liner instead for the bolts right?
When you do the chipping, wouldn't there be scratches on the fenders from the tanks going through bushes or rubbing against shrubs with limbs? So how would you show maybe some scratches on the fenders or possible the sides or turret?
David Edel could use an old tooth brush and dry brush with it
another super job Andy......what do you do with all of your completed models?
Love your videos, could you try and make a destroyed tank?
I don’t get why you would make the model with all that lovely gun detail hidden inside. It deserves to have the rear hatch open.
Hey ANdy, Great video this is a nice looking kit.
I was wondering how good you are at armored cars, could you try to build an armoured car one day?
Hi Andy, another great build. What is the silver product you do the tracks with? Hope we can get it in the uk. Cheers
Takes me months to build a kit. Takes Andy 3 days
Having a store and time helps Thank you for watching
Andy can I ask what tweezers you use cheers
Hello Andy, can you tell me how to shadow 1/35 plastic soldiers ? ( sorri for english mistakes ) :)
Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you adjust how much pressure to paint camo?
about 22 psi
I sense a king tiger video coming soon :)
did you leave the wheels to turn?
Beautiful :)
Thank you
Hello Andy, i like your videos but may i ask why you use Nato colors instead of the onces preferred by Tamiya, do you think this colors are more correct or simply looks better?
Hi use nato colors because when you clear dull coat the model it darkens the color and looks in my opinion correct the other colors look too dark with dullcoat
Garderoben is
Will there be a railway diorama project update soon ?
I will be soon
Andy, do you lighten the dark yellow basecoat with white or do you use it straight from the bottle?
straight from the bottle
Hello Andy, I found your channel about a month ago and it persuaded me to get back to building models. Based upon this video, I got the Tamiya Jagdtiger and I have a question if I may. Do I understand it correctly that, for some unknown reason, Tamiya decided to separate the road wheel halfs into three parts? One half consisting of an outer and inner one? And that the inned one is molded really unfortunately and you have to clean every single one to fit in? I think that such an overight from Tamiya's side should be mentioned, especially when you describe the wheels in quite a detail. I am currently building the ICM Tiger II and it has all road wheels half in one piece. As well as other King Tiger models I saw. On the other hand, the ICM /Revell Tiger II has quite a big problem with the engine cover which does not fit at all. Thank you.
I don't know how your doing it, but you make it looks easy to do ;)How much do you tindown your tamiya paints?
about 20 percent thinner i have a video about thinning tamiya paint ua-cam.com/video/CQsXFl3yLho/v-deo.html
Andy's Hobby Headquarters thnx Andy
As a modeler (who admittedly isn’t at the skill level of some of the UA-cam masters here) I prefer imaginings of vehicles which don’t have direct historical derivation. This model is a perfect example. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with building a historically famous rendering of a real vehicle like “331”, but then everyone does it and does mostly the same thing. I should think that there must be two schools of thought on this subject. My preference is to build vehicles which were, let’s say, part of 331’s unit, but did not receive much publicity. 331 earned its fame by its big U.S. tour from Aberdeen to Benning. Not a moneymaking tour like Van Halen’s 1984 American tour, but nonetheless a tour which has earned the destroyer fame in scale model universe. But at some point, seemingly everyone building the same tank or vehicle kind of gets boring no matter how well the job is done, no? Again, this is no knock on the artist or modeler. There’s nothing wrong with rendering a famous build. It’s like saying paintings of Napoleon shouldn’t be done and I’m not saying that. But I am saying that apart from the modelers skills, the choice of subject matter is very important. If not for this idea there would be no Mona Lisa. So, I would like other modelers to weigh in on this argument. Comments condemning me for knocking the modelers video or subject will not be read or responded to as they are non sequitur as I have made the caveat that I am joy criticizing people like Andy for making 331. My argument is why not build a conceptual “332” instead? Also, arguing that these kits ARE only historically famous vehicles are weak as a modeler can depart from any kit’s instructions. Decals and stencils can replace kit decals. This is not to say that some YT modelers aren’t doing what I,m arguing for. Some do. But not nearly enough. So, how about it.?
Can you please list a supplier for the SNJ powder? Seems like they are out of business
I think they are , I have had this bottle for ever Mig makes a similar product that will work
pls do a pershing m26 taimya!! would this have seen combat with the pershing? im planning to do a diorama, im a mid-level modeler
Tim's scale model building possibly. The Jagdtiger was a late war tank and so was the perching. but many Jagdtiger were captured by Americans Russians and British
i got the otto carious version for christmas
Andy I've built a King tiger P. And what file do you use? I use a nail file
I intend to start in the plastic model this year, and I have a doubt: the kits from Revell are good?
Deathstalker 007 This is a pretty late answer but I usually consider them "beginner kits". Most of them are pretty easy to build but they also often lack in detail and/or quality of the parts. So..I think that if youre just starting and youre not sure about your abilities they arent that bad as you might fuck up your first kit
Deathstalker 007 revell are decent for newbies ye
When you were airbrushing the shadow coat Andy one of the doors on the back blew away were you able to glue it back ?
Adam's Awesome Projects If you would watch a bit longer than 17 mins you will hear him saying why he DIDNT glue it on
hello, lovely video as always, i had somequestions about a problem I had a little while ago that's been bugging me
revell makes figures in a strange soft rubbery type plastic that does do not bond with tamiya cement. I was wondering if you could provide some insight on why this is and what cement I should use with it
thanks
many European manufacturers use a softer plastic to get better detail , I don't why the Chinese companies get great detail out of regular plastic. Super glue will work on them
how did you get the track to stay together mine kept on falling apart
Hi Andy I like your videos about building kits ?? I would like to know where your store is located in the USA..I use to travel across the USA and as a kit's builder would like to buy some stuffs ...Thanks a lot regards from France
Thank you ,my store is located in Glendale Arizona its part of Phoenix
i painted a 1/16 king tiger, but i cant get the green and the brown colours right. they are always too dark or just in the wrong pattern. any tips?
try using nato green and brown they look better after sealing them with dulcoat
Andy's Hobby Headquarters thanks, i will try that
super
Well, technically you weren't wrong Andy, the Jagdtiger were based on a lengthend King Tiger chassis.
