  • Just some more information on tuning the OEM Delphi ECU on GPX 300R's, I'd like to see others start digging into this because this is all just me figuring things out, you can get a lot more with community involvement. I do think it's nice we have these Delphi ECUs in the bike that are unlocked like this.

    Again thank you Sam ! I am having trouble changing the Idle air and I supect that it is the same problem you had with your bike, I re watched your video stopped it brought up my HUD ECU HACKER and my ECU and finally found what you were talking about !
    I halfed everything just like you did but I haven't put it in the RX4 yet I shall soon hopefully it will smoothe out the rough idle !

    On my bike (mash 400cc) i de-catted the exhaust. To make it run better i set it to stay in open loop mode.
    Now you can change the AFR without the O2 sensor keeping it on 14.6:1.
    But for idle it wil use close loop.
    Plus i changed the spark advance.
    Also turned of the decel enlean for smoother on/off trottle and lowered idle rpm.

    THANK YOU Very much ! you covered several issues I have had questions about !
    I got a Chinese adaptor which did not work so I got the Tatrix J2534 and it's on the way.... hopefully that will allow me to DL my ECU, I have a 2021CSC RX4 450cc
    bike that just runs too lean everywhere in my opinion and it stumbles when idling
    (which is annoying) but the Idle speed of 2100 I have got to change ! LOL
    other than that the Heavy Pig of a bike is a good one just too heavy ! hopefully I can change the Map to where it runs strong when wanted as it's kind'a soft in that area right now. thank you for your help, the program is not intuitive !

    Sam, dont they have a preset selection like an eq for pop, rock, jass? Power, cruise, mellow.. Like that. Don't really like to fiddle with things I don't have foresight.

    Cooool ! When I lived in China I wanted to tune my MAP on RX3 but only found expensive software
    There are 2 NC300 kits huh RTC NC300 81mm I think and another 84mm (298cc)

      I know right? It's very cool! I was looking into the expensive software like Bitloader last year as well but huge, huge respect to the person that developed HUD ECU Hacker. It is well worth the donation. Yea there are 2 big bore kits for believe 273cc and 298cc, our GPX bikes come with the 298cc kit and this can be set easily in the ECU map under System -> Cylinder Volume.

      @@nct9466 If I were to blow up my SOHC then sure but I don't think I will. I have one of each a SOHC and DOHC. I appreciate the simple valves of the SOHC and it is a nice engine, think it's as good/better than KLX/CRF300s.

    is there a place/site where some or most of these terms are somewhat explained? i mean, some terms do make sense but it's still not very clear on where to start,for example, what tab do i select to enrichen the fuelling generally?

      If you just want some generally richer you can set Closed Loop->AFR Stoic lower to say 14-14.2 but I wouldn't set much lower than that. And unfortunately no there is no manual for tuning this ECU, we have the keys, we can get into everything but we don't fully understand the reaction it causes. A lot for me has been guess and check with my bikes as well as chatting with another guy that's tuning these who has some car ECU experience.

    Hello, very Nice vídeo gained another subscriber, been trying to use this program on my AJP PR5 for a while but cant get it connected, MY AJP USES DB9 OR RS232 to connect, but ill try with your idea of getting a conversion for DB9 to OBD2...
    Not with intentions of tuning the ECU, because it is well tuned, but with the intention of whatching for errors data and some fun 😂
    Uses the same engine but 250cc

      Yes it is very helpful for checking errors and recording things as well. If you have a DB9 connection on your bike then I'd guess one of those DB9->OBD2 adapters would work just fine, they say they support K-Line which is what this runs on. Then you'd just need an OBD2->USB cable, connect them up and to your PC, make sure to install the drivers on your PC so it detects the USB cable.
      I would personally be very curious to get a bin file of your AJP mapping if you get it working but no worries if you never download the map and just look at diagnostics.

    Hi Sam - my motorcycle has an OBD2 connection on it do you think I would be able to use that directly rather than trying to make something and try to find where to connect to ,my ECU is a Delphi MT-05 and labelled AJP PR5- thanks

      Probably just a VAG KKL cable would work. They can put whatever connector they want on their bikes but if an MT05, this ECU program should work with it.

      @@hahayouareanoob Thanks - that is the cable I have. This ECU seems to be "Factory" locked where changes can be made but can't be saved. Will this program allow to save changes/updates

      @@lindsaypetersen1277 This program allows reflashing of the Delphi ECU, I don't see why it wouldn't work.It is flashing a new map to it, these aren't 'on-the-fly' changes.

      @@lindsaypetersen1277 Originally this program could only do 'on-the-fly' updates which reset each time you turned off the bike but now it includes a full re-flash capability so I see no reason it wouldn't work. Like flashing is done at a lower level that might be harder to restrict (I kinda doubt it is restricted on any Delphi MT05s). Hope ya find some good stuff man!

    any idea what could be causing one cylinder to fire upon startup? I have a CFmoto 800xc. I has issues with cold starting and sounds like one cylinder is firing. Any help would be great if you can. Thanks

      It depends on how they have the map setup as there are options for cylinder 1 and cylinder 2. I believe there are even a few options that say, "Use the same settings as cylinder 1 on cylinder 2". Unless this has happened since new I'd almost lean towards a hardware issue like bad spark plug or maybe bad coil on one cylinder. Unfortunately my bikes are single cylinder and my maps are just whatever base for the 2nd cylinder that the factory left since it's not used.

      @@hahayouareanoob i actually had my bike tuned by a service where i sent it out and had a performance tuned flashed to the ecu. it didn't do it prior to getting it flashed. other guys i have spoken with that also have the same tune have mentioned this as well. the guy that did that tune refuses to look into it and has said there isn't anything wrong and its hardware but i know of at least 5 that have had this problem since being flashed. unfortunately I don't have the original tune either. if you stumble upon this setting in your spare time id be interested to know more. do you have any info where i could brush up on what settings are what? I am very knew to this tuning thing. Thanks

      @@scoot00025 That guy sounds like a dick that's just looking to take people's money. Like I can change maps on GPX bikes and feel comfy doing it but I ain't comfortable enough to take people's money for it. I mean as far as learning the settings, it's really going through HUD ECU Hacker and there are limited descriptions of each setting but you kinda have to do guess and check with the bike running to confirm things.
      One I'd be curious on for yours is under System --> Base Cylinder. It's a specific setting to choose the 'base cylinder' of the 2, maybe that guy changed something there and it's trying to run on a base cylinder the rest of the map isn't setup for. I'll admit a lot of the cylinder 2 stuff I've kinda ignored for my uses, I'm sure there are a few other settings and will keep my eye out.

      This type of guy doing these maps is kinda a worry of mine with this software, like it's not hard to change these maps but it IS hard to do it RIGHT. The ECU is basically a big relational database, change one table and you'll affect 10 other tables that relate to it.

      If referring to the rev-limiter then that is set under Fuel Cutoff-> Threshold OSFCO.
      If you're referring to the header on the tables, that is preset within the ECU from base parameters. You can change that but I'd be careful. Those base parameters are all under Axis -> Engine Speed.

      That's a seat concepts and yea they are way more comfortable, expensive but comfortable. For a 2017 FE250 on this bike but if you have a newer GPX I'd recommend the newer seats GPX has now for the KTM-style bikes. The new GPX seats are to me a minor step down from Seat Concepts but still a very good seat, very comfortable.

      Probably under Catalyst -> Cat Light Off Option. Mine is set to 0 since our bikes are just straight pipes out but you'd have to test it. If you dont have an O2 sensor it'll be more digging because you'll have to tune open loop mode. Open loop exists on this ECU but for mine it's kinda a poor tune that 'works' but aint great. There is also an option to turn off Decel Fuel Cutt-Off (DFCO) which is part of emissions but that's more for fueling. It's not as easy as a single setting here.

      @@hahayouareanoob Hi, Yes i saw there are two options actially. One is Emission dfco and one is catalyst. So the 0 setting on catalyst is to disable it? That's strange, stock it comes already with 0 as a setting and my tnt600 has a catalyst from the factory. What about emission dfco? I'm already running open loop because the tnt600 has only narrow band oxy sensor. Thanks

    Hi Sam I hope you dont mind me commenting / contacting youBUT I am struggling at the moment
    I have a Fresia F18 that was originally powered by a 18 hp Briggs and Stratton flat twin engine. After several failed carb swaps and a poor attempt with a chinese copy of megasquirt fuel injection set up I have swapped out the original engine for a Honda IGX800 fuel injected V twin with ecu control. To get it in and running has been a challenge but its in! and running it performs well BUT I have one major issue the idle /tick over R.P.M. The Briggs idled at around the 850 / 1000 rpm mark THE Honda idle is set at 1400 rpm The F18 is hydostatic drive and as the tick over is 400rpm higher as soon as drive is engaged it is away !!!!! The Hand and foot brake are not strong enough to hold it back so it is potentially dangerous!!! Before I bought the engine I was informed by a supplier in the UK that it was adjustable!
    WELL it isnt!!! I have been on to Honda uk who inform me that they can reduce the top speed from 3600 to what ever I wish and they can increase the tick over to more than 1400rpm BUT THEY cant reduce it to 1000 rpm I installed the engine last January (2022) and have been searching for a solution on and off since then! Messaging ecu tuners specialists and anyone I can find that I think could help.
    My hopes were raised by a possible bitbox solution but that proved fruitless as my Delphi ecu is a MT05.3 and bitbox was for MT05.2
    I have come across this HUD ecu Hacker and references to Delphi ecu's I am 59 very mechanically minded but not to good with electronic technology I know It should be possible to alter the idle rpm but the access and the programming to the ecu and how to flash / read the ecu is a little beyond me. How can I get into the ecu ? Is there something on the market to buy? How can I contact the HUD ecu Hacker for help advice? I spent a lot of time getting the engine fitted and running to be thwarted by the idle rpm !!!! (with a carburetor it would be just turn a screw !) I would really appreciate any help or advice you maight be able to provide Cheers Gary

    I've just gotten a 450R and out the box it seems to be very lean. I'm going to clean the injector, replace the fuel filter and double check for any leaks but if it remains lean (which I hear they are anyway) I'd rather not have to go the route of spending more money on an Aracer kit. Has anyone spent time working on an updated map for the 450 that richens things a bit?

      I've never enabled it but most likely under Fuel Cutoff Testing -> HW FCO Limit Vehicle Speed. You could possibly also remove this under Hardware --> J1-16 Input Usage change to 0.

      Can't re-tune the MT05.3 with this far as I know, that one wasn't supported.

    U should just throw the DOHC head on the 300. Did wonders to the 250. Ton of torque, big kick in high rpm 30hp to the wheel.

      Unfortunately not swappable to the SOHC version (yea I looked hah).....but I may be getting the 300 DOHC. Around sea-level seen ~36HP dyno on those DOHC ones which is kinda impressive, that's WR250F numbers.

      @@hahayouareanoob They claimed 34-36 on the 250 DOHC. It feels +30 to rear wheel, and I said it felt like the carbed wr250f's but more linear. Really impressive on a lower maintenance motor.

    By the Way, my bike is a chinese Yingang yg-125-23A, modified with a 200 cc engine, 32mm intake manifold, high flow filter and bigger injector.

      I don't know for sure, it has compatibility with multiple OBD2 compliant ECUs but I do not believe Honda uses Delphi ECUs. Far as I know the only others outside of China using Delphi in motos is ironically Harley.

      I'd just turn it off if it's enabled. We do not have this enabled but I imagine if it is enabled would be under Fuel Cutoff Testing -> HW FCO Enable. If yours is set to 1 then that's enabled, set to 0 and disables.

      It's under: Fuel Cutoff -> Threshold Overspeed Fuel Cutoff. Basically ECU just cuts fueling at those RPM points, I wouldn't go much over 10.5k because these engines just don't make top end power like that, max power is around 9k.

      @@junaldjohndapigran9779 Not disabled but you could set it so high it'd never engage. Like set it to 15000 RPM and you'll never hit that.
