      i think we'll be more likely to see 100" OLED panels get to $3000 before we'll see this tech go down anywhere below $5000

      hmmm no.
      I think when qled gets out it will be cheaper than oled.
      But this is a lot better than a projector with all the cables and such.
      Only downside is that you cant place your centre speaker anymore.

      @Sinier940n 6 років тому

      Not a chance, best we can wish for is affordable 75 inchers. Anything above that is a fantasy. These short throw projectors can create a theater like picture for a lot less. Xiaomi already sells a simillar projector for little over 1k. If thses things gain mainstream appeal, prices would drop immensely.

  • @unknownuser0006
    @unknownuser0006 7 років тому +20

    I think this type of projectors are the future. Setting up a 65 or 75 inch TV is already a pain, too big. But with 4k and 8k we will want bigger than 75 inch and people won't want to set up a 100 inch TV, also the cost of a 100 inch TV is a lot (production, transport etc). We will use projectors like this.
    quick note: if you say something incorrect then don't correct like this lol. Just use on screen text like this " *100 inch" :)

    • @bliglum
      @bliglum 7 років тому +4

      I've always felt like 4K is meant for projectors. With little 55-65" Tv's 1080p is plenty. 4K really is'nt even a noticable improvement unless you're sitting 4 feet away.. So at normal distances of 10-15 feet, projectors, with their easy 100+" display areas really do seem like the best way to go.

    • @BrknSmmtr
      @BrknSmmtr 7 років тому

      Adam Majorcsik a modular screen made of smaller panels could become a practical if expensive option. Four 80 inches panels panels could be combined to create a 160 inches screen that would occupy a 60 degrees angle of view at a standard ten feet viewing distance. Obviously two of the sides on each panel would need to have no bezels and be perfectly aligned, calibrated, and synced to each other.

    • @soylencer
      @soylencer 7 років тому

      @bliglum I hear that a lot and I completely disagree with it. It may not matter to everyone, but many people have the acuity to see the difference if they are viewing critically. Further, if we're talking about "premium" home theater equipment, *everything* matters.

    • @bliglum
      @bliglum 7 років тому

      @Soylencer Okay, I've heard of people with hawkeye 20/10 vision. But for most with 20/20, 4k is difficult to appreciate without a huge size or close viewing distance.

    • @soylencer
      @soylencer 7 років тому

      bliglum I actually wear glasses for distance, I'm just very sensitive to aliasing, for lack of a better term. typically text or animation is the giveaway for me.
      I also am not one of those people that turns the sharpeness down to compensate for noise... I paid for the best fine detail in 4k, telling the TV to be *less* detailed is not something I'm interested in, so higher fidelity content is valuable to me.
      I have what I consider a trained eye, which means I'm probably jaded. I am not an audiophile though, so I'm sure someone can have an opposite discussion with me about audio. :)
      Different things matter to different people. It's one thing to say that better is unnecessary, because good enough is good enough. It's another thing to refute whether better is actually necessary. Especially when we're talking about purely luxury premium items -- we don't *need* TV in the first place; I had an opportunity and resources to get the (objectively) best one.

    It has been a few years since the introduction of the VZ1000ES, what is your opinion now.
    Still a good buy, or go for the newer Samsung LSP9T that is not native 4k but has some interesting features.
    What I find the most important is 4k picture quality and color coverage, with minimum side effects like rainbow effect.
    Main use is in the living room, so there will be some ambient light from time to time.

In some setups on the floor or in-wall...so you're not forced to put the speaker behind the screen (inside the wall).

  • @AGC828
    @AGC828 7 років тому +2

    One major problem with short-throw projectors such as this Sony is actually not with the picture quality but the design itself. In that the idea is to put the projector as close to the screen as possible when you can't or don't want a projector mounted on the ceiling towards the back of the room or at the very back. But here lies the problem. Where do you put the centre channel speaker??? :) The projector would be sitting where the centre channel speaker would be. You'd need to put the speakers in-wall which limits the brands/models you can use to the B&W Custom Series and the JBL Synthesis. If you want to use traditional speakers and place them out in the open you'd need to rear-project the image with this Sony. Which might bother some people. If they don't create a custom space (e.g. opening in the wall for the Sony projector so that it can still rear-project onto the back of the screen and not be sitting in the room. Sounds like a PITA to me.
    I think you'd have to really love the picture quality of this type of projector to use it in one's custom HT room. But being as owners are likely going to have a custom built HT room...those annoyances shouldn't be an issue. But things to consider before buying.

    Hallo,I am the owner of the LSPX-W1S 4K projector for more then one year.Now Sony came out with the VPL-VZ1000ES for half the price with the features I am missing in the LSPX-W1S. Will there be a firmware upgrade for HDMI 2.00 and HDR.I do not understand why they also cannot build in then the HDMI 2.00 ,because I am using the Oppo 205,En missing the 4K resesoltion.
    I would like to return this projector to Sony for update.Because it looks similar as the VPL-1000ES .With the same laser build in.
    Hope to hear some comment from Sony.

    The price and size sort of doesn't make sense when you consider that it's outputting only 2500 lumens vs a much cheaper and smaller tri-laser projector like the award winning foremovie theater is outputting 2800 (white and color). So what gives? Are sony making their units larger just to attempt to fool the consumer into thinking they are better? This device clearly isn't winning any awards for quality so who in the right mind would pay a premium for a larger device that doesn't compare to cheaper smaller ones?

      Remember, years ago people paid an absurd amount of money for a couple of megabytes of storage. Now a 2TB SSD costs under $500. This will be the future of television. Once you passed the 80 inches mark a solid display would be too costly.

    • @2011Savere
      @2011Savere 7 років тому

      Actually they say brightness is more important. If you have a good bright projector you can play with the contrast. That's why I never fell for the Sony Projectors that preach 150,000:1 contrast and all the BS. If the lumens are dark it's not worth it. Sony projectors can barely get pass 3000 lumens.

      Why can't they make hdr laser projectors they probably act like a plasma and a oled but without the tv taking up space in your room and you then just need a sound bar with lasers shooting at the wall lol I serisuly tho if they use this in.the cinemas then it must be better than oled but the cost is still insane why mess with oled when your staring at a screen which is bigger and better and maybe 8k projectors become a reality

    2500 lumens is not bright enough. $25,000 is not a good price for a 2500 lumens projector. I have an NEC 5000 lumens protector and it's way brighter than this projector. Don't be fooled because its a short throw. It means nothing. For $25,000 i'll get a really good professional NEC or Christie projector. And those will be in the 8000 to 12000 lumens output.
