It's probably got more to do with their increasing popularity of the "hype stories" than a lack of interest in your productions. Business wise, all you can really do is to diversify under a different name perhaps (or not) and add a different topic to ride the popular waves. When I got out of college, I had a high tech suit job in the early eighties. Along came the recession and I ended up as a transmission mechanic for the next decade. During that time I observed that in good economies, sales were up and during the tough times, the repair industry was up. I chose to become a licensed contractor in all of the trades while also maintaining a full service automotive shop of my own. Having these two businesses allowed me to weather any economy and have a potential place to move good employees around to so that they could get by also. Isn't there some formula for determining the distance you sit from screen and the size it should be, i.e. what's the distance that warrants going for 100" and is that common for most movie room viewing environments? Are you more likely to get motion sickness watching content on a big screen size if you are not far enough back?

I've enjoyed learning new skills, but spending a full day every week finding SEO search terms, and researching how to make the perfect title and thumbnail, and reading contracts, and doing market research is horrible, especially when it doesn't always work out and you watch 40-60 hours of hard work actually end up hurting the channel. 11AM on a Saturday can be a really upsetting time when you open up the stats to find the words "fewer regular viewers are choosing to watch this video decreasing it's reach, consider changing the thumbnail and title", and "this video is currently 9th of the last 10 videos for number of hits in this time frame". Once you realise that those things mean UA-cam will show you to less people next week you start to obsess over those figures and depression shortly follows. I need a floor ulp but it needs to be at least good as my tripod mounted in the middle of the floor... but no more expensive. Which when you consider it's at least 3 years old...but it seems these projectors seem to focus on more K's than low end for ULP
i really really like these more seriousish reviews with less editing. Still like your style but less script and less edit means more content and that's a good thing in me eyes :3
Genuinely interested in this tech but ideally would want the screen mounted from a ceiling to drop down, then could I fit surround speakers behind without affecting acoustic performance? We then need to move onto projector input lag for gaming, I'm certain projectors don't come close to say the likes of a modern LG OLED.
Very nice demo thank you ! I love those ultra short laser projector and ALR screens technology but I am always concerned about the central speaker position when you have a 5,1 setup (?)
They have a screen that has the reflectors facing a different direction for front throw. If I remember rightly it’s not quite as effective as UST but still a massive improvement. Worth googling to confirm
In the old days, lamps needed replacing every couple of years if you watched the projector daily. These days the projectors are either LED or laser and last for about 30 years.
Thanks for the video! Can an ultra short throw projector be mounted on the ceiling, along with this (or another) ALR screen? I know that's not the point, but I want to keep them off the floor, because of pets, dirt, kids, etc.
Intriguing but the quality of the projected image surely has a lot to do with the quality of the projector, a device which comes in various flavors. Perhaps the actual model projector wasn't mentioned because this video is a promo for the screen. All the same, it would be nice to know the spec for the projector being used to obtain the quality of the projected image while remaining silent on the manufacturer name. Other questions linger like a TV is designed for live broadcasts out of the box. To obtain that feature with a projector is doable for sure but more involved. At the end of the day, I'm wondering if I'd prefer a device I can just hang on the wall and it's ready to go without the addition and hassle of more devices.
LOVE this video. So many flat panel TV fans try to pull the "ambient light" card and forget about new projector and screen technologies. You, sir, get a thumbs up from me! ....maybe even a subscribe. GREAT VIDEO!!
Since the surface has a side, I'm guessing this won't work if you hang it upside down? I like the idea of a clean living room so that means hanging the projector and screen from the ceiling, technically if both are hanging it should work right? Is this supported?
You've surmised correctly. They do drop down screens too though, so that would be what you would want, just make sure you pick the right one for whether you're using UST or ceiling mounted projector.
Looks good. The problem I've always had with projectors is light control and fan noise. Is your projector silent? I ditched the projector in 2016 in favor of a 65 inch oled, but my wife still thinks that is a bit small! Some women are hard to satisfy, ahem!
I think import duty is a matter of incoterms... as you said they were giving you this for free, they probably shipped it DDP which means that they covered the import costs?

Business wise, all you can really do is to diversify under a different name perhaps (or not) and add a different topic to ride the popular waves.
When I got out of college, I had a high tech suit job in the early eighties. Along came the recession and I ended up as a transmission mechanic for the next decade. During that time I observed that in good economies, sales were up and during the tough times, the repair industry was up. I chose to become a licensed contractor in all of the trades while also maintaining a full service automotive shop of my own. Having these two businesses allowed me to weather any economy and have a potential place to move good employees around to so that they could get by also.
Never put your "eggs" in one basket, They will get broken as you are currently feeling the pressure on your eggs right now, lol. Yes, of course it's a lot more work. Hiring family to help or manage such endeavors is a wise choice since they are less likely to see you fail because of their actions or non-actions. Your productions are plenty diverse so you know how valuable a trait like that is and I'm sure that there's something that you would enjoy doing for an extra source of revenue too.
Never give up, never surrender. If you don't like the way the wind is blowing...change your course heading. The security of having two income streams will give you the tranquility you're looking for as long as you don't over tax yourself and burn out. That's why you enlist trustworthy family members that don't want you to fail.
Best of luck
Good advice man. Thank you. X

ua-cam.com/video/wykUYpWa5TA/v-deo.html or it could be down to this... Ironically I only saw / watched her video because she paid to promote her channel.
Isn't there some formula for determining the distance you sit from screen and the size it should be, i.e. what's the distance that warrants going for 100" and is that common for most movie room viewing environments? Are you more likely to get motion sickness watching content on a big screen size if you are not far enough back?
People reckon there's a formula. I have my own though... The screen should be twice as big as all your mates TV's.
Awwww no outcuts :( I absolutely love the look of this!!! Just renovating an apartment at the moment and might consider this for it!!!
Yeah, sadly UA-cam is killing me at the moment, so I might have to cut back on outtakes, or find another way to include them. I worry they're hurting the average view duration as there is a drop off when my end speech starts.
@@paulhibbert ahhh that's bad, but understandable man, it is quite a large outro! Love the content, you put a lot of effort in, all of my light switches are smart because of you!!! (Broadlink 😉 )

@@blissweb tell me about it. I've been quite down about the whole thing recently. I got into this to make fun videos about technology, not to become a marketing strategist, and a social media analyst, and an accountant, and a Paralegal.
It's been a tough month watching every metric head in the wrong direction because I don't know when it will stop dipping, and whether this is the beginning of the end of my UA-cam career simply because I couldn't please a robot.
I will definitely sit here wondering: Is there a way to use Home Assistant and Switchbot to tie this new screen into your automations?
You could do it with a broadlink rm4 pro! ❤️
Everytime I turn my OLED TV & av equipment plus subs on with voice assistant my switchbot curtains close. All through if this then that app (ITTT)
Alright the humor and more important tech demo got you a sub
Woohoo! Thank you! ❤️
Hi am using formovie theater and which alr is the best for now ? Am using DIY curtain alr cheapest screen so far. Any idea?
Watch the hookups video on ale screens. Rob has done an amazing comparison video.
Thanks for the review Paul. This screen looks great.
Thanks Ron! Happy Wednesday... or whatever bloody day it is! 🤣
@@paulhibbert Lol. It's Tuesday here. 😁😁
Possible dumb question, but can this be mounted in the ceiling and go down vs up? Thanks for the video!
Mind blown 🤯🤯 this is Absolute Amazing
The link to vividstorm contains many screens. Which one did YOU use for your video review?
I need a floor ulp but it needs to be at least good as my tripod mounted in the middle of the floor... but no more expensive. Which when you consider it's at least 3 years old...but it seems these projectors seem to focus on more K's than low end for ULP
My favourite character is the UA-cam police guy! 😂😂😂 Love your videos Paul! ❤
Thanks dude! He's my favourite too, you're the first person to say so, so this made my day!
So will one of these screens work with a regular projector?
Are ALRs only suitable for UST projectors or are they suitable for the traditional long throw projectors too?
Both, but you need to buy the right screen! One reflects light upwards, the other reflects the light downwards!
i really really like these more seriousish reviews with less editing. Still like your style but less script and less edit means more content and that's a good thing in me eyes :3
Thanks man! I wanna do more Wednesday videos and I think this works well. It was still tons of work, but less stress. It was a good balance I think ❤️
What short throw projector do you recommend?
Genuinely interested in this tech but ideally would want the screen mounted from a ceiling to drop down, then could I fit surround speakers behind without affecting acoustic performance? We then need to move onto projector input lag for gaming, I'm certain projectors don't come close to say the likes of a modern LG OLED.
What is it like for specular highlights in HDR compared to a QLED? What is its nits rating which will depend on the projector used, l imagine?
Is there any difference in a dark room between the 2 screens?
3 years ago I payed my 52” Smart TV from Samsung 330€. Works fine. Went on a holiday for the rest of the money. 😎😅
Your review is so funny it is the first time I am watching one of your video! So funny!
Thanks dude! Really kind of you to say 😊
Very nice demo thank you ! I love those ultra short laser projector and ALR screens technology but I am always concerned about the central speaker position when you have a 5,1 setup (?)
Perforated ALR screen, problem solved
Great review. Can ALR screens be used with normal throw front projectors too? Or only UST projectors?
They have a screen that has the reflectors facing a different direction for front throw. If I remember rightly it’s not quite as effective as UST but still a massive improvement. Worth googling to confirm
#paul hibbert I noticed there were HDMI parts on the back. Could I plug a computer or a fire stick in and not use a projector at all
I think you might be mistaking the footage of the back of the projector I'm afraid dude. You will unfortunately need a projector.
@paulhibbert I presumed that was the case, but was just checking. It's a really nice screen, though.
Could you explain projectors, don't they need globes replaced almost every day?
In the old days, lamps needed replacing every couple of years if you watched the projector daily. These days the projectors are either LED or laser and last for about 30 years.
Awesome video as usual
Brilliant work thanks Paul lve ti's screen
Thanks for the video!
Can an ultra short throw projector be mounted on the ceiling, along with this (or another) ALR screen?
I know that's not the point, but I want to keep them off the floor, because of pets, dirt, kids, etc.
You can buy alr drop down screens for ceiling mounted projectors. These guys sell them too!
Superyacht owners will love this!
I had a good chuckle at the on the fly joke.
Great video as always. Thank you.
With these collapsible screen, I wonder how they will age, just because there are so many moving parts in there.
I like " fast and loose " Paul.
It's like a surprise " quickie " !
I've always enjoyed a quickie, but sometimes I like to take my time... We're still talking about videos right? 🤔
@@paulhibbert Er , yes ?
Maybe ?
Probably !
🤣
I'd love to see a video of you mounting that
With my DIY skills?? 🤣
I think import duty is a matter of incoterms... as you said they were giving you this for free, they probably shipped it DDP which means that they covered the import costs?
They actually wrote into their contract that I would have to pay import duty! 🤣
@@paulhibbert Wasn't expecting a reply from the man himself! Well I suppose they're giving you a pretty sweet screen for free, I guess you can't moan if you got some fees! Maybe it really does come down to who got laid the night before then!! Keep up the good content!
Tuesday for me, but I'm happy with the video!
Happy Wednesday! 😂
Amazing colors and really nice blocks. However.. I don't like how it's curved outwards. I'm used to screens being curved inwards.
Projector recommendations?
Im in the US and can get a 120 inch ALR for $25 US delivered. Wonder how it will perform
Can I have a link? Sounds too good to be true haha
