Hi , I found your video very useful. I have a sony vpl vw325es and I had a question , If I see the dotted lines inclined such that right side of the screen shows lines and left side doesn’t, is there an adjustment I can make on the projector OR do I need to adjust the screen ?

This would indicate that the projector is not perpendicular to the screen. Make sure the projector is perfectly level to the screen and it pointing straight forward. If you slightly twist your projector until both the top an bottom are parallel (the image will go off the screen slightly). Then use the lens shift function to get the image back on the screen.

Another pro tip 😊 - if the reposition is not repeatable vertically (i.e. it is a cm or so different over time) it is recommended to go to the extreme top or bottom then back to the required position when saving the position. As the positioning of the motors is based on the difference of the previous location rather than an exact value this gives the most repeatable situation.

How do you get the green lines to appear???

Is this cropping the image, so there will be items at the top of the image that you may not see?

You're only cropping the black bars that you get when watching 2.35:1 content. So you don't lose any image, just the blank space.

We indeed lose some on top and bottom! Just watch the last part

It is not cropping the image all you are doing it projection the black bars that are on the top and bottom onto the wall instead of the screen. You are not losing any part of the actual screen image. You are not zooming the image like on a TV.

Wouldn't it make more sense to calibrate 1.85 for a 1.85 aspect ratio image, and save a separate calibration for 1.78 (ie 16:9) to picture position 1?

This is so that the two lens memories stay at the top. If you are doing multiple positions, then yes saving 1.85:1 on to that memory position would make sense. However, on the new XW7000, the memory positions are simply names Position 1, 2, 3. So you pic yourself which memory to use.
