Theres nothing more stimulating than waiting for a new game from someone who made a game you like that could potentially drop dead at any given time and you know you are going to wait for at least 3 years...

You and me both. The music in HLD means so much to me (it replaced Shadow of the Colossus as my favorite game OST), and now I've already been listening to this trailer for a hundred times on loop, just because of the music. I am beyond excited for the new game itself, but especially the thought of a new Disasterpeace soundtrack to a new Heart Machine game that looks to be what Shadow of the Colossus was to Ico. Day one buy and play, cannot wait!

Hey we might get it for free, I keep the epic games launcher and got some pretty good games every 2 weeks
why not? Other than not implementing the search at start i don't see why people keep bashing it. Steam is totaly outdated in visuals, slow and contains a shit ton of games that should not even be allowed to exist at the first place. Other than good sales steam has done nothing other being the one and only on the Market. At least epic tries to collect a good library only and keeps bringing in great titles while giving good games away for free. I don't understand why people are being fanatic with steam.

@@jfkonlsd1364 I have no idea what features the epic games launcher has, my main issue with it is the fact that it creates copies of your steam account data, completely bypassing any privacy settings you have set, without even telling you about it. At least, that is what I have heard.

@@ryan5198 Compared to other storefronts it's very barebones, everyone else has made decent progress while Epic is still playing catch up. Up until recently their store didn't even have a search bar. It also has several security issues, it doesn't even have email verification which is the basics of account security.

Chad Peterson i think the problem is that epics launcher is a poor service for the consumer, and generally, what they are doing by getting exclusives is insentivising effort on the launcher itself and how a launcher Can enrich the experience of playing a game. However, it Would be nice If steam could give developers a bigger cut. But epic is not ”the good guy” really. Neither is steam. But all They’re doing is just throwing money at developers while putting in minimal effort into their service. For the consumer it’s honestly not very intresting that the developer gets a bigger cut. They had games before, they’ll keep having games. Asking them to use a worse service to play games they Would otherwise have played on a currently superiour service Will of course annoy them. Would be strange If they weren’t.
@@elliotlemon8402 yeah, I definitely understand the annoyance, but people take it too far. Steam is an objectively better store for the consumer, there's no question about that, but it's unbelievably selfish for people to slow that to be their driving motivation behind not paying for a game they otherwise would buy, at a rate of return which is better for the developer. Plus, the short-sightedness of it bothers me -- sure, the Epic store doesn't have the bells and whistles that Steam has now, but that's the beauty of competitive capitalism: that competition sponsors growth. Both stores will become better because of the other existing. This might even incentivise Valve to get off their butts and make a decent game for the first time in a decade.
I don't think Steam gonna give any "Big cut" like epic games tease steam because steam can't do that. They were owned the only source 2 and nothing can compare to Unreal engine about performance. Epic games can give more Dev money not only because They sign exclusive contact but because Unreal engine makes money too it had "Microtransaction" if you say, So Epic games got money on another way around too. So whatever dev who used Unreal engine might purchase something I don't think that they're used Unreal engine completely free. Then epic games got money and self ads to Unreal engine too. Steam doesn't have any of that so can forget "Big cut" I don't think value is that kind enough for that. Even tho they've amounts of money.

Nikos Senounta Steam may not be too pleasing to the eye, but it is super effective at what it does. There is a great community surrounding it because the platform allows it with its own community tab and market and workshop. Steam actively supports its community. Epic's tactic of giving away games for free is great because it isn't stealing a game away from another platform; buying out exclusives they don't own is another thing entirely, and is the reason people have started to hate the Epic Store. Firstly, the exclusivities have made a lot more people aware of the spyware contained within the launcher, stealing information from things like Steam to try to be more convenient but without consent. Now, this wouldn't be a problem, if Epic's largest shareholder is Tencent Games, who owns ~40% of Epic Games, who has been confirmed to do some suspicious stuff with personal information (i.e. selling). If the Epic Store is more polished before trying to force consumers, it would get a fraction of the backlash. If they would(though I doubt) cut ties with Tencent for their suspicious activities, if they would improve the swiftness/effectiveness of the store, if they would promote better competition (like free games every two weeks) rather than forcing exclusivities they don't own, if they would allow a community to surround it (reviews, hub, market, workshop...), if they would fix regional pricing, make the launcher faster (because I think you're confusing Steam's slowness with maybe internet? I've never ever had a speed problem with Steam; faster than Epic thats for sure.), make the UI simpler because right now it is filled to the brim with content, which is a big problem with modern companies trying to be... modern; then Epic would make great competition and a refreshing new environment for gamers who are used to Steam.
(Those are the problems I've noticed, so feel free to add more problems or even pros of the Store)
Edit: Steam does have exclusives like Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Portal, but it is fine because Valve produced them; same with Epic and Fortnite. This is very similar to how consoles market their products, because they either fund a game or make it or owns a company that does. Epic is trying to buy out exclusivities to _force_ consumers to use their half-baked launcher. Think of it like wine: early on, wine would taste average or even bad, but give it a couple years, even decades, and it gets more refined. Epic has only lasted a little over 2(?) years, while Steam has been around for over 15. Steam is a terrible launcher at first, but it got better. If the Epic Store were to get better, they _need_ time to improve, or take a break to add the essentials for a good platform.
-Another thing with bad games: terrible games exist because of the community; why? Because many people want to try to make their own creations. This is the downside to having a thriving community, there are not-so-talented people who exist in the world. The pros outweigh the cons in this scenario though; take a look at Steam's community if you ignore the bad games, because you would need to look for them to find them. Epic's censoring is also sure to drive away a small group of consumers looking for mature games, because they are trying to be more kid-friendly (though with good reason, since Fortnite is most popular with an underage audience). Removing porn isn't really a problem though, the problem is removing a few good games that just so happens to have nudity in them. This is a problem with modding, though, because if they want to fully remove nudity from a moddable game - especially a mod-centered game like Skyrim - they would need to remove modding support. Again, this is a downside to having a thriving community, because many people have many interests. This can be fixed if they allow mature themes but have a filter, and I'm sure that's what they will after some time has passed.
TL;DR I say stuff supporting steam and bashing epic for things like community, exclusivities, convenience, and suspicious activity.
@@nikossenounta4584 uhm because what Epic Games is doing with Tencent is buying developers for releasing their games exclusively in Epic's store, just like consoles, and that's very bad, because Epic Store is noy as good as Steam, no community, no Big Picture Mode, no sales, expensive prices, And prices are just in dollars, which is very confusing or bad for people that doesn't use dollars. Sorry for my bad english, but i needed to say this, Tencent is an evil company and it's behind all of this.

@@rarecomment3639 it's not a bribe it's a fucking funding deal. To get people to use the epic store they have to offer services their competitors can't. In this case it's games. So let's throw a shit ton of money at Heart Machine so they can make a kickass game because games are EXPENSIVE to make. In exchange, we will pay you for not only your loss of sales from fewer storefronts, but also more, and if you make a profit, you get a better cut than you would on steam anyways.
That's not predatory, that's just good business dealings.

@@lucasferrantelli7747 That's a good question. First let me say that I'm fine with using another launcher, for instance I have the GOG launcher sitting on my taskbar. I also don’t want Steam to have a monopoly on the market and I want this game to do well. That said paying a publisher to make a game exclusive, even temporarily, is just going to create another monopoly.
Furthermore, the Epic launcher does not allow for offline play, it has no regional pricing so if you’re outside the US (like I am) then the prices may be completely unreasonable. There are no automated refunds. Reviews are opt in. No Achievements (Not a deal breaker but it’s nice to have). There are no community discussions or guides. There is no VR support and no Linux support. You don’t even get to pick what directory the game will be installed in. In short, the Epic launcher is best described as a early first draft of a pre-alpha demo for an upcoming market place.

Sibel it doesn't have awful security. What happens is someone uses the same password as they do in many different places and one of the places the password gets stolen and they try the same username and password on many different sites.
The lack of features is literally because it is over a decade behind steam.
They didn't steal any games. They offered developers a deal that gives them some money and makes it so they don't have to deal with steams 30 percent. The developers and publishers decide to take these deals.
Sibel You should be getting mad at the devs who decided to sign up for the deal if the promised the game elsewhere, not the place offering the deal for games they consider to be really good.

1. According to Alex Preston on Twitter, it is in the same universe as Hyper Light Drifter but is not a direct sequel.
2. No word on this yet.
3. Also no word.
That's all he's said. Oh, and it's going to be fully 3D with third person camera. We also don't know if "same universe" means "same planet/world". But it might. There may be more continent on the other side that we haven't seen yet :)

I'm definitely gonna miss the 2D topdown gameplay. I'm stoked for the 3D action, and maybe there would be room for some top down parts that are just like Hyper Light Drifter. The alternation between 3D and 2D pixel graphics is something that can work out for a game like Solar Ash Kingdom.

I love HM. I played the everliving fuck out of Hyperlight Drifter, and have bought it multiple times across several devices. I'm not using Epic, and will pirate to avoid it.

This looks promising, can't wait! Love the universe you guys at Heart Machine have built, HLD is one of my favorite games. Hope I can play this on the Switch too at some point.

According to Alex Preston on Twitter the game is set in the same universe as Hyper Light Drifter, but it is not a sequel, it is 3D with a thid person camera, and they are hiring game level designers and programmers to help make/finish it.

Hello Bunzin hey now Epic isnt a nazi party, they just have some very good deals for developers. They just happen to have a shit platform for consumers and not fixing it before buying exclusivities
@@steffy9575 I've to pay VAT when buying from Epic store. They don't pay the VAT unlike steam which ends up making me pay a lot more. Bad for the consumer.
Hello Bunzin well steam has fair regional purchases, whereas epic does not. If i were to buy a game from the epic store using US dollars (i am from thailand), i would need to pay twice if not three times as much money as what would be the price conversion to baht.

This is a beautiful news, i've been waiting for your second game from finishing hyper light drifter. Truly, you are making masterpiece. Music, graphic, story, sounds design, all the little attention to the details from you previous game leaves no doubt that this game will be an outstanding journey.

I already planned on buying this game before I even hit "play" on this video. Heart Machine is amazing. Hyper Light Drifter was incredible. I wish Alex Preston the absolute best and hope his heart condition is okay and he continues to live a long and healthy life and can create as many of these awesome visions as humanly possible.
Couldn't you just sneak it into Steam or something?
