I wish they could have made it a bit deeper, both because it's a little ridiculous how little space there is to stand minifigs back there, but also because they might have been able to fit some 1x2 groove bricks and added some rails to the phone box to make it more playable.
Nice to hear somebody actually appreciating the set. I think as a play set it works but not really as a display set. Its main problem has to be the size Its just a facade with little to none depth. If you don't plan on buying at least 2 its not worth displaying imo. But it would be a nice starting piece to build a moc around. What could be really interesting to see is how you would build sets around the last two Film. As lego really neglects these two movies. May be a cool little project making some custom sets. Just an idea - have a good one 😊
I'll definitely do more custom Harry Potter stuff in the future. Not sure what I'd do next, but drawing inspiration from the Deathly Hallows is a great idea!
There's a lot of passion being poured into this theme by the designers, and it's awesome to see! The movies are definitely worth a watch if you have the time. Most of them are quite good.
For people struggling with stickers on round tiles: Put the blank tile on a plate so you can easily make out the orientation you need to place the sticker at. Also in general easier for people with large hands, like myself, to put tiles on a plate to have an easier time holding them while placing stickers. (or in cases like the Jurassic Park Jeep: Build the model first, then put the stickers on. Turns out that centering them completely ruined the look, as it left grey gaps ugh)
Yes definitely do more HP! So far I have acquired 2 of this particular set- and I’ve purchased instructions from rebrickable in order to make it more of a big piece that has a lot of smaller details, however I honestly am thinking I might need a 3rd- I definitely need a lot of extra parts- depending on what I already have in my “yet to be organized properly” parts inventory- it might be cheaper if I just grab a 3rd. Which in hindsight is a disgusting amount of $ spent on making one scene.. oh man idk. It’s time to go thru my backlog and start selling stuff I won’t be building or using for parts. Lol. Love your channel, keep up the awesome work, I know a lot of us out here definitely appreciate it!
Presumably one of my favorite Harry Potter sets, and not (merely) because it contains a single of my favorite fictional characters. It was immensely glaring that the Ministry was missing, and we finally acquired a set of it. The set is magnificent: the references are nice, Unbridges' office is the cherry on top, and the Minifigures are astonishing. The sole criticism I have with the figures is that Umbridge is rather lackluster compared to her predecessors, for a character who is a rarely present in Lego form. If her costume was a lighter pink, she would be perfect. She's my favorite character, by the way. The building itself was great too, though I wish it was more. Overall, a set worth obtaining. Also, I would adore a set depicting the "I must not tell lies" sequence.
Another great review.. I only have 1 complaint about the set.. I feel the build needs something more in the middle, they look like book ends.. but great figs.
I love deathly hallows and wish Lego did more sets like this , but wasn’t there another DH set around the forbidden forest , with Hagrid + Harry + Voldemort + Narcissa
Can you elaborate? Been a while since I read Goblet and I'm not too sure about the lore of the early books. He was a gambler and wore black and yellow? Why does Arthur have a bee as reference to him?
Yeah, lost quite a few subscribers when I posted this and it's my worst performing video in the last two months... Honestly, this is even my favorite review I've ever done on the channel too. Would love for more people to see it.
It is a shame... the revisiting old Harry Potter video from a few months ago is actually the reason I subscribed!! Previously I thought this channel was primarily minecraft... now I'm binge watching all the old Harry Potter videos 😊
Pius Thicknesse is my brother's favourite charcter (don't ask why) and he likes Yaxley too, so this set was a dream come true for him. I think this is an amzing set purely becsue it offers the right build size, perfect little details and the best minifugure selection anyone could ask for.
So many first-time figures here's indeed, and probably ones we'll never see again. I love that out of all the options in this universe he chooses Pius 😂
If Lego releases the full ministry of magic with full interior, I'm gonna a buy it no matter what BTW the set is just as good as having a coffee when you're tired
Actually I believe there were two deathly hallows sets that have been released before the 2018 to now sets. One being the battle for Hogwarts and the other being the dark forest with Narcissa Malfoy
What would be fun, would to make a modular ministry like the new hogwarts.. big courtroom, offices, lobby, elevator etc... something I'd definitely buy anyway!!
@@CheeseyStudios we can definitely hope.. I'll buy a few of these and try to moc up a variant. I've done it with other sets with some good results. Keep up the great work and videos. Great inspiration to folks like me 👍
If I'd take a guess, I'd say the next LEGO Minecraft video will release in 2-4 days. Predictions aside, this is a very good set for the price. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, but I love this LEGO set.
Had this set included a giant plastic panel with background detailing that could've covered the glaring void between the towers, I would've recommended getting this set. As it stands though, the lack of anything between the towers makes this set feels very barebones.
@@CheeseyStudios Update: Because of the relatively easy fix of just adding some background elements [1] and me just happening to see the last unit on shelf yesterday at my local LEGO store, having been 30% reduced from CA$130 to 91, I immediately snatched it up! *Footnote* [1] I greatly recommend the Ravensburger HP: OotP 1k pc puzzle!
The movies are all worth a watch if you get a chance! Makes these sets all the better too as you can see how faithfully the designers have recreated movie scenes in LEGO.
As I see it, this is a set made for hardcore fans of Harry Potter rather than your average kid. I can't imagine too many younger fans are dying to play out this specific scene in the Ministry of Magic. With the set being marketed to an older audience, LEGO was able to give us a bigger set with more details and more minifigures. I wouldn't have been too excited for a $250 D2C Ministry of Magic, but anything smaller would have meant a lot less cool minifigures and Easter eggs. This seems to strike a really good balance.
@@CheeseyStudios i actually meant that ironic because you cant even proper fit a mifigure into the rooms And also how got Pius an Timetraveler ? They were all destroyed in the fifth book
I was thinking of getting this one, but I ended up getting Grimald place instead. After seeing this review, I think I might get this one too. By the way, I just subscribed, and I love your videos so far!
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very cool 😎 . also when is the endurance coming out cause I LOVE interstellar like it’s thee best movie EVER!!!!!
Another great review! I've seen so much unfortunate negativity surrounding this set, and it's so refreshing to see a positive review! Agreed that some great play features are included, and the minifigure lineup is indeed superb.
If Arthur Weasley has a high profile government job, why is the Weasley family always shown as so…destitute? Like I know it’s a large family but geez man you can’t even buy your kids new clothes?
To be honest…..as a themed set, I think it sucks. I honestly didn’t even know what it was supposed to be and I probably wouldn’t be able to deduce if it wasn’t explicitly said that it was supposed to be the ministry of magic. I honestly think that lego has abandoned playability and aesthetics for collectability and the inclusion of set exclusive pieces and mini figures. All these sets have amazing individual pieces but the set in its whole isn’t all that impressive. Like someone said it looked like a Christmas set due to all the reds and greens. When I saw it, I thought it was supposed to be a China town or something. The transparent green smoke thing looked random and o suspect they only included it as an exclusive piece and the typewriter just precariously placed as some kind of finial piece was a weird addition as well. I don’t know anymore, this definitely wouldn’t be something I’d buy. The only reason I’d be inclined to buy something like that is for the pieces. I think this was one of the weakest designs for a lego set.
I wish they could have made it a bit deeper, both because it's a little ridiculous how little space there is to stand minifigs back there, but also because they might have been able to fit some 1x2 groove bricks and added some rails to the phone box to make it more playable.
Some functionality with the phone box could have been pretty fun for sure
The colors of the set, the details and the range of minifigures makes this a really good set. And love that they included the phone booth entrance
Right? I feel this one was so underrated. I don't know why it was so widely panned.

The bee in Arthur's case is a reference to Ludo Bagman the one that gets the Weasleys to the Quidditch World Cup
