    im a dewalt fanboy but the truth is milwaukee and dewalt are both high end tools that all perform the same with vary small variations in performance. they both get the job done day in and day out

      Craig Sater,
      It's rare to see an honest comment like this. Respect, haha. :)
      It's usually certain specific tools that one 'brand'/company may do a much better job with in certain areas of performance, in my experience and opinion.
      Peace.

      Even though all of the videoed have shown high heat, none have failed. However, over time it may become an issue. The tools are too new for proper testing. But with my experience working with power tools, high heat is not a good thing.
      If you look at the 2804 hammer drill, there is no inlet holes for the cool air. On the hammer drill, the inlet holes are there. I am not a mechanical engineer, nor do I claim to know more than them. But sometimes common sense is the best answer.

      Ringo Wayne,
      Yea, I agree. Except with the common misuse of the phrase common sense. Lol :)
      Is one of those "hammer drill" instances you wrote supposed to say "impact driver"?

    • @thms4771

      Correct impact driver.

      I own milwaukee and i think these comparisons are useless now cause this is the future where all these brands are great i doubt they can even get much smaller than this without performance loss

    I cringed at the way you smashed the Chuck of those drills against the block. Anyone who does that with any of my drills will have a small brick thrown in their direction. What you did is the perfect way to make sure your Chuck goes bad fast

    • @RenovationsandRepair
      @RenovationsandRepair  6 років тому +3

      Yeah. That's why I keep 2 drills as back up. I usually get about a year from a drill before sending it off for repairs.

      I thought the same thing. I treat my tools with the best care possible no matter the job!

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 років тому +4

      Lol. Guy says you're treating the tool like shit, essentially, and that this can prematurely cause it to fail. Your response is basically, I treat'em like shit and will continue to and this causes me to get them repaired. No logic at all.

    I noticed you gave the DeWalt the new bit and you started out with a DeWalt and made sure the bit got good and hot before you gave it to the Milwaukee's, this isn't the old days this is now and Milwaukee kicks ass and it runs a long time

    There is no torque difference with the gen 3 vs. gen 2. Same torque number. Why are you slamming the chuck with all your force into a concrete block?!

    • @emiltvede2833
      @emiltvede2833 5 років тому

      Actually the gen 3 has a motor with more copper and more thread length, and is abel to hold the torque in gear 2 much better, if you dont beleive me, try and test 2 versions on full blast in 2 gear.

    • @shauncatlett6066
      @shauncatlett6066 3 роки тому

      @@emiltvede2833 My issue with the Gen 3 is that Milwaukee removed the function collar and put them at the end of the clutch dial. I get that they are trying to make more compact drill, but I feel that they should have made 2 different versions for those who want the settings collar and 24 setting clutch.

  • @thms4771
    @thms4771 6 років тому +2

    The Milwaukee Gen 3 May have a major problem. It is the high heat that occurs at both the battery and the gear housing. Over time it will have an effect. Unless it has a either a heat sink or a cooling fan, this may be a problem down the road.

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 років тому +1

      Where have you seen this other than those tools in action guys? Or have you experience it first hand? Genuinly curious because I'm considering the Gen 3 combo and I have the Gen 2 now.
      Thanks Ringo.

    Try driving 100 3" deck screws into a piece of treated wood and see which one you can still hold onto at the end. That is if the Dewalt doesn't burn up first.

      I agree either way you will burn out the Dewalt it will over heat. I have both and the Dewalt in my opinion is a piece of crap.

    • @jackhandy3360
      @jackhandy3360 6 років тому +1

      Nobody has used a cordless drill for 100 screws in a decade. Thus the impact drivers. You aren't still pre-drilling flat head screws, are you? Try those funny looking "star screws" (torx head), they are amazing compared to flats and phillips. Using a "drill" for driving screws. anymore, is like using a hammer and finish nails to install trim.

    • @MintStiles
      @MintStiles 6 років тому +1

      I have both, the Milwaukee runs hot if not hotter. Even with GRK’s torx and cutter heads, I find predrilling still the best way. I do a small hole with the drill and let the impact on low settings take care of the rest. Not always necessary, but the result is just much better IMO.

    • @jackhandy3360
      @jackhandy3360 6 років тому

      Fuller tapered countersinks are the best thing for finish work, but this video was referring to deck screws and only a moron would predrill deck screws, other than the ends to prevent splitting. The other point was drill vs impact for the correct purpose. What impact has a "low setting"? I just use common sense and years of experience, because I have never seen an impact with "settings" for torque and other than the variable trigger, any good impacts don't have 2 speeds.

    In terms of weight, you’re comparing 4Ah battery on the Dewalt vs 5Ah battery on the Milwaukee, and yet the Milwaukee was still lighter. Use the same size battery and then compare the weight difference.

  • @jackhandy3360

    Boat anchors. The 12V stuff is functional and there is no substitute for corded drills if you need power or a hammer drill. A cordless hammer drill is pretty much useless unless you need to hang a picture on a soft brick wall. Anything that isn't SDS is pretty much useless for drilling concrete.
