I remember when I told someone I wanted to Turbo a B series back in 2000 they laughed at me. These motors are incredible.
I've been a Honda fan / owner since the 2000s. I strongly agree with you. The biggest thing with these cars are they are insanely light.

I would say parts were more scarce, expensive, but how wrong could I be about the expensive part. We actually had some money to blow back in 2000.
The entire crowd erupted as soon as the board lit up, was truly amazing to witness this car in person.
I would have loved to have seen that in person.
@RattledRoar It was really something special, it wasn't just another record being set. That pass proved to all the haters that Hondas are legit racecars. There was litteraly grown men jumping up and down and fist pumping.

yes but its a billet engine, it was made for that, go take a look at carl brunet, he still rocks a cast engine and does high 5sec 1/4 mile and way over 200mph

@@drewdoestrucks yea was a lil warmer than previous years but still amazing. I live about 25 mins from mir and world cup been like a holiday for me for the past 15-20 years. Probably cause growing up my pops n I built the worlds first 1000whp and 9 second e36 328(still had ac n heated leather seats lol) back in 2006 so always been rooting for the imports.

@@drewdoestrucks they set a new track refined this year so I don’t think the warmer weather was bad for the event
@@richiegibson1433 track prep always on point and the last big event of the season so everyone goes all out so always will be records, but colder denser air means more power with all else being equal. It was 78 sat this year vs 58 sat last year.
I think the craziest part is that thing basically slammed on the brakes at the 1000 FT mark because the engine shut down. You can see the back wheels come off the ground right when it lost power. Meaning that could have been an even faster pass if it stayed on power for the last 320 feet. Stick shift 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine running a 6.91?! That’s fuckin’ epic man. That is one of the faster cars in the world and it’s a tiny little hatchback haha. I love how much you can do by just continuing to develop the same chassis and engine/trans combo until you get the desired result. Dude is a great driver too. That car is probably a rowdy one.
Without the nitrous too. Add another 200 hp and a full pass and this thing might do 6.7. with stick shift. That's fucking crazy

Why would a drag car be on a circuit 🤷🏻♂️ no matter how you slice it , it takes skill to keep that thing under control at such high speed one mistake and your getting seriously injured

Insane…on the 6.91 pass it endo’d across the finish line when the charge pipe blew off!
It was more terminal than a charge pipe. They ended up working all night on it
@@dickfitzwelliner2807 Actually it was an issue with the strain gauge which created a cut at the 1000ft mark. We worked on it all night due to the pass after this one. There was nothing wrong with the car after it went the 6.91 other then an electrical issue which was resolved shortly after it came back to the pits.

4 bangers have come a very long way . Did my first jdm H series back in '98 with add on. Later boosted and hanging out with my buddies from northern VA and heading over to metro with high hp hatches (Green Goblin) Off hontech and ripping the pavement apart it was so much fun. Ive always wondered who was gonna do the first AWD setup and now look. They are breaking into the 6's which is insane but I definitely seen it coming . carl brunet does a full second quicker with his 4 banger and its not even a billet engine, its a real cast alu engine from a real factory car, rwd with a modded 10L90 automatic transmission, that honda is all made from billet parts made specificaly for that application and cost hundred of thousands, its not impressive

My jaw dropped when I read 2000hp from this 4cyl.... and then buzzed out when the clock went 6.91!!!!! The last Honda I saw set that 8sec record in his iconic yellow hatch!
I personally got to see this chassis be built. Tom did an amazing work with the cage and all the tubing.
We haven't had a racetrack here in Hawaii for decades and the last time we had one the fastest Civic was doing 9.89 with wheelie bars. It's insane how much progress has been made.
That nosedive at 1000 ft with the back wheels completely in the air was SKETCHY! Holy toledo... 😲
But yeah, any stick shift car running quicker than 7 seconds is just absolutely insane! A lot of drag racers have Powerglides or sequientials - and here these guys row their own gears, still going mindboggeling quick... 😁😇🤟

I saw this civic at Import faceoff at pacific raceways in Washington, did a 7.07 at 209.17! It was actually really scary because right after he passed the finish line, he blew a tire and hit the wall. He was ok, and minimal damage!
