    May I ask how much that turbo set up cost you (minus everything to do with the flex fuel kit? Also what's your prediction for reliability? And how much of a drop in fuel efficiency did you notice in city and highway?

    • @JustaHondaAccord
      @JustaHondaAccord  4 роки тому +4

      Turbo, misc hardware and tune were around 1500 +/- 200. Been a while now. Don't expect any major impact on reliability, as preemptive maintenance will plan on changing ATF fluid once every 10k or so. Fuel efficiency on e30 doing probably 75% city driving 25% highway is 22.5-23mpg.

  • @Fk8td
    @Fk8td 3 роки тому +1

    I thought I’d throw this out there. Why did Honda use a smaller coolant line on the accord? There’s two possibilities . The type r has more turbo cooling due to type fact it’s meant to be a optional track use car and the turbo center section allows more coolant compared to the accord. The only other possibility is that like a thermostat does for an engine you slow down flow enough to cool the engine. A wide open hole with only a gasket and no thermostat can actually make it harder for an engine to cool cause the coolant passes too fast through the radiator and engine block. That’s why just outright removing a thermostat is bad idea. They make different size restricted plates to replace thermostats.

    What’s your thoughts on doing these mods with a 2.0 and six speed manual transmission? Seems like you’d get a lot of wheel spin, shredded clutch, Etc.
    Nice work-

    • @JustaHondaAccord
      @JustaHondaAccord  3 роки тому +2

      Do it! You'll only shred the clutch if you beat on it, can always upgrade and put better tires on as well. Not to mention you will learn how to feather the throttle in first to put the most rubber down. Spinning tires mainly should only be an issue in 1st with good tires. Good luck!

      I have the 2.0 6spd. I did the k tune right away. I have stage 1 when in econ mode and stage 2 normal. And boy I have to keep it in stage 2 the majority of the time. Its way smoother and much quicker to respond. It's like a different car altogether. I think its how it should of been from the factory. Yes you can spin the wheels but just driving it normal with the tune is a pleasure and better all around. I don't beat my car at all. But I know I have the power when I need it. Havn't done the turbo yet, for reason's like in this video. I don't want to have to dremel any parts. Or break the bolts. lol And its hella spendy.

    Great volg how much was the type-r turbo do you go on eBay or do you go to the Honda dealer and get it second question aluminum charge pipe on the type-r does it bolt up it's just where you place the wires is the problem and will bolt up to a stock Accord turbo. Third question what made you choose a k-pro versus a hondata there's a big debate on that. Very insightful keep up the great work.

      I bought the turbo brand new for 900$ on a type r Facebook group. I belive the type r inlet bolts up but you have to cap a vacuum line and secure the harness. Would double check for sure. I chose k tuner because it was the cheapest option. Wouldn't expect much difference between the tools. At the end of the day they are large playing with the same tables and fields, ie boost, timing, fuel.

    Why not just get the Acura TLX Type S next year which is both better than your car in terms of luxury and power? Its essentially just a Honda Accord anyway. Guaranteed your friend will be even more impressed. I just don't get it. This car isn't even a manual transmission, so you can't say its about the "feel of driving." This is just a Honda Accord that is slightly faster than what it was designed to be at the expense of engine life. For the time/effort/money people spend trying to turn a car designed to be an excellent touring car into something it was never intended to be you could have just purchased a Civic Type R and had money to spare. In fact, you could probably buy a Type R for fun and a used accord for daily driving. The entire point of buying a Honda is that it won't become a money pit like german cars. If you are going to turn it into a money pit why not just buy a money pit like a Porsche to begin with? I guess the desire to "customize" things and be "one of a kind" or "unique" is greater than I anticipated.

    • @JustaHondaAccord
      @JustaHondaAccord  4 роки тому +1

      The tlx type s looks awesome had it not been 2 years out when I bought my accord would have likely bought that instead. My accord is just my family car I tinker with wanted to have a little fun with it and am accomplishing that. For what people think an accord is versus what mine does, it surprises. That's a fun little biproduct of the build but not the why I mod it, so it because working on cars is a passionate hobby of mine. Don't think any of the mods I've done have made significant sacrifices to longevity, transmission would likely be the most at risk but I haven't noticed additional harshness in shifting, time will tell.

      Based on the numbers this accord will be faster than 2021 Acura type S. That car is 3700+ lbs. Its heavier with less whp than this accord

    • @maxdiputs2863
      @maxdiputs2863 3 роки тому

      @@TR1_93 Well if we ignore that your statements are wrong (assuming tis accord makes the same power as a Civic Type R) the power to weight of the accord is 0.093 versus 0.096 for the TLX; you are completely ignoring my points. The Civic Type R, Accord 2.0T unmodified, and the TLX Type S are all going to be about the same speed in reality. No one is tracking these cars. My point is that why not just buy the car the way it is and enjoy it for what it is. You will always come out behind financially by spending all this money to make a lesser car into a better car. If you do it just for fun and you like tinkering, sure I guess that's fine, but selling the idea of spending thousands of dollars to make a car slightly faster when it is a daily driver is just nonsensical.

Relatively speaking this white accord shown here may possibly be faster than the 2021 acura type S. Dah! -
      2021 Acura TLX Type S
      Luxury car
      Model: 2021 Acura TLX
      MSRP: From $52,300
      Horsepower: 355 hp
      Engine: 3.0 L V6
      MPG: 19 city / 25 highway
      Curb weight: 4,221 lbs
      Dimensions: 195″ L x 75″ W x 56″ H
      Transmission: 10-speed automatic
      TLX Type S 0-60 mph time is as quick as 4.5 seconds, 151mph
      But I paid less than $34,000 for my 2021 Sport Turbo off the lot with tax! that is $20,000 less. And as long as your mostly restoring your engine to a Type R, the reliability should be fine. My only concern is burning more alcohol in an engine that was not designed for it could be a problem. The biggest problem is that ethanol can have a corrosive effect on the fuel system over an extended period of time. And ethanol attracts and absorbs dirt and water far quicker and more easily than gasoline. This could potentially damage and corrode your engine and its parts.
