- Turbo comparison with 3 different cars all stock motors and target was around 400bhp for fast road/track use but 3 popular turbos but with similar bolt on mods.
Car 1 - PRL700 Turbo
Mapped on Hondata with Eventuri Intake and Carbon pipe, Dream HFC, Dream IC with HKS hardpipes and Miltek Exhaust
Car 2 - MHI Turbo
Mapped direct to ECU with Eventuri intake, STOCK cat, HKS IC and hardpipes, Milltek Exhaust
Car 3 - Stock Turbo
Mapped on Ktuner with Eventuri Intake, STOCK cat, Intercooler and full exhaust.
In summary the stock turbo is absolutely fine for the vast majority of people offering really good response and good reliable power without having to upgrade a lot of other parts.
The MHI or similar like the Owens is a perfect upgrade for people that are looking to upgrade to get a little more at peak or if just changing turbos due to age and wear
Specing up a build for a circuit car with effectively a drag motor size turbo then everything else that needs to go with it to use its full potential is just listening to the salesman who's chasing his sales target bonus ;)
Great video and information for owners to help with what they want to achieve
Thanks for the explanations. Help a lot!
I’ve tuned many Fk8s. P700 doesn’t make big power what so ever. An mhi stage 2 makes more power cause it has proper proportional turbine to compressor flow.
Mhi makes 40-50whp over stock turbo on 98 Ron when tuned right.
You can definitely mitigate spool losses to spool by 3700 on mhi stage 2 with proper cam timing.
do you recommend getting the xdi fuel pump with the mhi stage 2 turbo? I have a downpipe, front pipe, intercooler and hondata just want to have everything I need before install. not aiming for 500hp either. High 300s low 400s is ideal. Thank you
Is there anything that can be done to get better use of the P700 such as porting the head?
Mistakes were made and I'm on the P700 currently. OEM turbo had damage from the previous owner
Don’t listen to this guy he blew my motor on my first fl5 ! Car was junked once he popped the motor tuning it watch my videos FK82Shitty
Warning. Don't buy the 27won turbo. I bought the Kuro for my FK8 and it keeps falling apart and causing oil leaks. I've had to pay for repairs twice and their customer service doesn't want to send a new one. They just tell me to keep tightening the bolts down every couple thousand miles. I would go for MHI
Interested to see your thoughts on the 27Won Kuro turbo for the FK8. Not sure if it's actually out properly yet but I've read a decent amount about it online and it seems like it would fall into the same sort of category as the MHI turbo

Their older P600 turbo was better for most FK8s. The P700 is just way too slow at building boost. The P700 isn’t even very good past 7K either.
great video!
this is great info. im keeping my stock turbo! ty!
