250 rounds in and 0 malfunctions for me. There is another gentlemen that had the same slide lock malfunction and took his to a gunsmith to have minor work which fixed the issue. I believe I have a second batch release as well and extremely happy with my purchase.
I just picked mine up on Friday and haven't shot it yet but I checked the two things you mentioned. The front strap was nice and tight and as far as the slide lock lifting when you pull the trigger, it only seems to do that with the mag out. With the mag inserted the slide lock stays in normal position and doesn't move up or down when pulling the trigger. I don't know if you are having an odd problem or not. Just letting you know mine doesn't see to have the issue but I will see after I run a few boxes through it.
@straplyfedj I understand. Mine has ran smooth. So smooth that I didn't even think about the slide lock being an issue. But nevertheless some things in a batch went wrong.
I've got that Eddie has been tried to "rehabilitate" negative opinion about this gun saying that, for instance, the front strap issue wasn't a big deal to fix it on. But - boys, just look deep on that front strap (time marks between 3:40 and 3:55) when he moves the gun you clearly see a light (table desk) through a considerably wide crack between that strap and the grip frame. It means that, apart of that cardboard (paper strip, for God sake!) the front strap has no contact, it's not pressed down to the grip, it's loose totally! I'd never carry this gun and do not advise anyone, if only you want that front strap to fall off in some critical moment defending your life.
Thanks for posting. I am very interested in this gun as a possible replacement for my G 19. Following your channel to see how things go and updates on your shooting time with the gun.
Mine kept locking slide back. I sent it back to S&W. They replaced the slide lock. It seems to not raise the slide lock now. I have not taken it to the range to verify that the issue completely solved yet. However, I expect the issues had been fixed since the slide lock does not raise anymore when I pull trigger.
Has anyone noticed and excessive amount of slop in the slide to frame rail fit? My comp carry has probably a few millimeters of shift from side to side at the tip of the slide. So much so that you can shake the pistol to and hear the slide shifting.

I have an fde optics ready with quite a bit of chatter
I got my Metal Carry Comp the day my LGS had it. Yesterday I crossed 500 rounds with mine and I had 0 malfunctions of any kind. My front pad does wiggle if I move it, but when I’m shooting I never notice it move so it never bothered me. It’s ran great for me and it’s my EDC. I stand by it
Yes. I noticed that on my when i got it home a few months back and was dry firing it to break it the controls a little bit. Never an issue on locking back until the last round like it should do.
Mine's the same as yours - however if you hover the slide over the top of where the slide stop interfaces with it (wher the notch is), then pull the trigger it might do lock it back. Caused by interference between the trigger mech and the spring on the slide catch. It's a pretty simple fix - either an Apex trigger, or you can bend the spring/remove a small amount of material from the trigger. I suspect that S&W will produce a slightly modified trigger or slide catch in the future. Whether they will provide this to previous owners is another matter though.
Well maybe it’s a factory first run type issue, I don’t have one but with all the accolades this series has, it just may be trial and testing issues through consumer usage. Remember the 365 in its infancy, still a great gun, but these things can happen. Still looks like a great gun.
@@EddieMacTX1 and 1k rounds is likely around 4 times the break in period in my opinion. I really like the aesthetics and smoothness of the firing cycle, I want one, time to ask the good for nothing NYPD for a second purchase order lol!
Looks like theres an air gap between the front strap and the grip frame. Was it like that from the factory or is that because of what you did to it to stop it from being loose?
@sinistar426 it was slightly like that before but the shim does make it slightly more noticeable. Gonna put some scotch tape since it's thinner and should eliminate more of that air gap.
How exactly did you fix the movement in the front panel? Can the panels be removed or did you shimmy and wedge something between the frame and the panel.
All credit to MysteryWheelgunner. Here is his video I followed. If you use the shim method just make sure the shim is thin. ua-cam.com/video/Z5M4WF5XTXI/v-deo.htmlsi=7oLH3C810_PfW4VK
I was excited to grab one but it is new in a sense. I'm either going polymer or waiting on this gun to have the QC worked out as time passes. My main attraction to the gun came from the reliability I saw through garand thumb's YT, but alas, polymer... (and not the comped version)
Not a big issues with the slide lock. Send it back to SW since it’s a manufacturing defect. Does seem there are more problems with the metal frames than the polymer frames.
Great video bro, thanks for the tip on the front strap! Mine is having the slide lock issue so I sent it out to S&W for repair.
@@MightyGunzTV Right on. It's a great pistol. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get it back.

@larkules Yeah it seems to be a small number of pistols that have this issue. I adjusted a spring though so all good now.
I had the slide lock issue. Pistol would slide lock after every trigger pull.I sent it back to S&W, and note it runs like a champ..
I did the front grip panel hack too. Took out the wiggle. My slide lock doesn’t move at all. I may have gotten the second batch of this release.
How did you remove the front strap?
I will happily wait on the second batch of these. Too many issues. Almost don’t even want it altogether at this point.
@straplyfedj I understand. Mine has ran smooth. So smooth that I didn't even think about the slide lock being an issue. But nevertheless some things in a batch went wrong.
Facts. Usually wait a year once a gun release for all the possible kinks and issue to be known and resolved.
The metal frame has been out for a while and none of them have had an issue until now. I wonder what changed?
@TT-ch2pz Yeah it seems to be an isolated issue. Maybe just a batch were affected.

@vinhphan86 Nice. How often were having issues and how long did it take to get back from S&W?
@EddieMacTX1 i sent mine in for the same issue and they replaced the slide stop as well was about 4 weeks or so.

That’s suck. I was gonna buy this today now I have reservations. I love my smiths but I don’t want any issues
@kyjelly5524 i would say at this point they have been out for a while so you may not have any issues. Mine has run smooth since my fix.
I have had zero issues on mine. The front piece is loose on mine, never been an issue at all. I don't even notice it when in use.
