I have not had a good day to take it out yet because it just to cold in NJ the last few days. I have the 1st version also that I really bashed on and only broke the hub carrier. Got mine already in blue. Going to speed tested on grass probably tomorrow. I did swap out the ESC to an Xmaxx esc that I had laying around. The stock 4s ESC gave me trouble on the V1 last time. I'm also going to use my own TX AND RX from Spectrum (I don't like Traxxas radios). Stock motor and servo are fine. Thanks for the video Gregg.
I really don't mind the body poppin off as oppose to clips that rips through the body. I would think that if they did try to fix that, that it would break instead of simply coming off...this is one of my grab and go trucks and can't wait to get my hands on this updated version. cool jumps bro!

Recently bought the Traxxas steel wide axle and wide Maxx kit.. Looks like I'll be ordering a new chassis, driveline, battery tray and body...once I BASH the heck out of it till the body and or chassis is annihilated.
Greg As always good video. Price, ya man it is what it is. You get what you pay for and you can't go wrong with Traxxas. My opinion. Product support, and the online Traxxas support is spot on. You get a-lot for your money. Again, my opinion. Keep it up dude your doing great.
I could never justify getting a Maxx before because it needed the Widemaxx kit so it was really a $600 truck. But now with the V2 version it's almost a steal! Like you said $270 worth of upgrades for only $20 more. It's not just the Widemaxx kit, but the Sledgehammer tires, and the bigger battery tray. Do yourself a favor and get the SMC 120C 9700mah 4S packs, they're $40 cheaper and WAY more powerful than the Traxxas 25C 6700mah 4S packs. I already have two of them since they fit my X-Maxx hehe so I won't even need new batteries once I pick up the Maxx v2.
I can't justify just getting a Traxxas in the first place!.Lol! The Maxx should have came with the upgraded A arms from the factory. And having to buy a Traxxas charger and batteries or you void the warranty. I should have the option of buying the charger and batteries I want....not Traxxas telling me I need to use all Traxxas stuff. Why I got the Arrma Kraton v5 6S. Best truggy in my opinion!
It didn't need the widemaxx kit. It's not a racecar. It's not supposed to handle well. The only people who say that it needs the widemaxx are people who can't drive.

@@DUNGSTA my local hobby shop told me I should get in go in to model Trains cause this wasn't for me lol I had them fix my lil erevo and spent 1600 at lest at minimum in there and I need a whole clutch assembly and rear diff pro line sand paws has chewd 2 rear diffs broken a whole clutch assembly I have gotten gpm diff housening front and rear gpm stabilizer up front new front bulk head traxxas axels one generic cause my throttle control and prolines lol aluminum shock towers gtr shocks in the front slash front bumper slash wheelie bar steel 54 and have chewed through several several pinions I put a 9 tooth pinion and the 54 main spur and it was stupid bunny hopping when it does hook up and been threw 2 esc fans on them an 2 motors wasn't even playing that hard or long bit the traxxas tech said 3 in one oil the piss outta the motor bearings and I haven't had any problems
Damn that was an awesome double flip. I am having a blast with mine, but 1 month in and I blew 2 tires already (dry grass and some pavement). Kinda not trusting the sledgehammers...lol. Have you tried any other tires? I checked around but didnt see any that would clear the suspension arms. Thanks for the vid...2 thumbs up
Yeah, mixed feelings here. I like the orginal version and I really hope they continue to support it at least parts wise. But if I have to upgrade to V2 parts if something breaks... I'm not happy about a cheap fix turning into a couple hundred bucks worth of parts.
I just broke out my MAXX after it sitting for over 2 years. I been into DJI for a while and RC's have been pushed to the side. I tried to set it up to my new iPhone 15 Pro Max and install the updates. I installed 1 but the last 1 just keeps failing out. I will break out the UDR and see if I can get that to do the updates right. I need to fix the freaking settings with my 6200 milli amp battery and need to adjust the throttle, brakes and the steering! I barely touch the throttle and it's on 2 wheels. The brakes are at 100% so it causes the truck to flip over easy at high speeds because it slams on the brakes. Love the truck. It's not to have some fun with it again. I just hoping breaking out my UDR fixes the updating issues or its back to complaining to TRAXXAS again. I totally forgot how annoying updating your TRAXXAS vehicles can be the and the big FU updating system that TRAXXAS has. It really sucks that I can't just ignore them stupid updates and just adjust the settings and have fun. Forcing people to update when the updating could be at a bad time, or me and many others the dang controller or the truck fails the updates. (Drones are so much more fun and DJI doesn't force you to update where you can't fly your drones.) If only TRAXXAS could learn this.
I have the V1 and i think is the most durable rc out there with some upgrades, the v2 with the longer chassis is more stable but in my opinion it would transfer more stress to some parts and more chassis splash after big jumps! However we need some time to finally have a conclusion. Maxx is the winner 🏆 for durability for sure. Great video ⚡⚡⚡⚡🤘🤘🤘🤘 Also have the Sledgehammer tires and they are perfect tires with a lot of grip and control is perfect in the air ❗❗❗

Thanks! It’s more of a setup thing. They’re going for a neutral setup out of the box. It’s good for people ripping around their yard, dirt lots and mild jumps. But for those going bigger, they’ll need to tweak the shocks.
I appreciate your test run videos. Would like to see how this and different traxxas models would be in average 2 to 3 in backyard grass. With particular interest in speed percentage settings and effects on heat to the electrics etc.
I'm sure you can easily find comparison vids on UA-cam, this channel is geared more for experienced RC hobbyists that are more interested in the vehicle specs.
Great that's what they're built for. The lcg chassis slash wouldn't be as good in high grass though. I have the Maxx and that thing is almost too fast for the back yard and I have an acre. Every Traxxas model for off-road would be fine in the grass

Hi, can it run with 2s lipo? some folks says that is ok to use lower volts with velineon VXL esc. therefore i wonder that can i use it with 2s lipo without damaging the truck and lipo. i am cool with low perfomance btw

I have VG racing springs and 70wt on V1 Maxx. Completely changed the performance. Stopped the rollovers. I still haven't went widemaxx yet not sure I need it.

But to your question ... idk ... it depends what type of battery the maxx calls for .... if it's a 4s ..... you should be 100% fine. !!!!!!! I think it's only if it's a 3s or 2s ....wich I highly doubt the maxxx takes a 2s .... but the rest of the numbers are really just how long the battery last I think kinda it's power storage ???
It really was a weird release. I think the carrier pigeon had a rough time getting it here, but I put a bunch of packs through it and was not easy on it. It’s a beast.

But I'm gonna put a wide maxx kit on it !!!!! 1/5 scale is so awsome and with the Wide Maxx kit ....it will blow your mind ...... never drove the SLEDGE ...LOOKS PREET COOL ... NEVER BOTHERED DRIVING THE MAXX BUT PEOPLE DID RIGHT NEAR ME AND THEY WERE SO JEALOUS QND I WAS SO HAPPY I DIDNT GET THE MAXX ... THE X MAXX TAKES 2 BATTERIES AT ONCE ( ITS A 1/5 SCALE ) I bought the kit with dual charger so that not a pain but it would be easier if I just had to do one battery ..but it's not huge deal at all ....you get use to it ....im just getting older and more lazy with my Arthritis...lol too many Quad and dirtbike accidents !!!!! No issue with the price in the US, we pay 50% more in South Africa for these trucks, so if you are really in to high end RC's you going to end up coughing up more than what they go for in the US, in most parts of the rest of the world.
Going down a tooth was probably to get back some of the pep since it gained weight. Also, it could have been to address the cooling issues. If you drive it hard you end up playing chicken with overheating on the V1. Lots of folks swap out the fan for higher volume fans which help about as much as dropping a tooth on the pinion.

Someone designed a 3d file for a wide kit the T-Maxx I think. I could be wrong it may be the emaxx. But it’s worth looking into.

Hi, can it run with 2s lipo? some folks says that is ok to use lower volts with velineon VXL esc. therefore i wonder that can i use it with 2s lipo without damaging the truck and lipo. i am cool with low perfomance btw

All of us who purchased V1 and then paid another $300 for the wide Maxx kit, steel cv drive shafts and the 17m hex conversion should get a refund or - V2 for 50% off!!

Great informative video. So what is the stock shock oil weight in this WideMaxx V2 ?? And what would you recommend upping the oil to to reduce chassis slap a little without ruining performance ???
Not sure on the stock weight. Probably go to a 70-80wt oil, aluminum caps and a firmer spring. Possibly VG Racing springs.
I have VG racing springs and 70wt on V1 Maxx. Completely changed the performance. Stopped the rollovers. I still haven't went widemaxx yet not sure I need it.
The v1 was good. As a Pro-Basher the V2 is ofc superiour the v1.
I'm upset that I bought a Maxx then they bring out this 2 weeks after. I have a Xmaxx and would like to know if I can put battery from X into the Maxx I have now? Already bought wide kit .

But to your question ... idk ... it depends what type of battery the maxx calls for .... if it's a 4s ..... you should be 100% fine. !!!!!!! I think it's only if it's a 3s or 2s ....wich I highly doubt the maxxx takes a 2s .... but the rest of the numbers are really just how long the battery last I think kinda it's power storage ???

It really was a weird release. I think the carrier pigeon had a rough time getting it here, but I put a bunch of packs through it and was not easy on it. It’s a beast.
Was it even 'Released' lol no sign of it in the Southern Hemisphere. If it was a new Arrma release all my LHS would have them by now.

I got an X maxx and it's bad ass !!!!! But I'm gonna put a wide maxx kit on it !!!!! 1/5 scale is so awsome and with the Wide Maxx kit ....it will blow your mind ...... never drove the SLEDGE ...LOOKS PREET COOL ... NEVER BOTHERED DRIVING THE MAXX BUT PEOPLE DID RIGHT NEAR ME AND THEY WERE SO JEALOUS QND I WAS SO HAPPY I DIDNT GET THE MAXX ...
THE X MAXX TAKES 2 BATTERIES AT ONCE ( ITS A 1/5 SCALE ) I bought the kit with dual charger so that not a pain but it would be easier if I just had to do one battery
..but it's not huge deal at all ....you get use to it ....im just getting older and more lazy with my Arthritis...lol too many Quad and dirtbike accidents !!!!!

No issue with the price in the US, we pay 50% more in South Africa for these trucks, so if you are really in to high end RC's you going to end up coughing up more than what they go for in the US, in most parts of the rest of the world.
I wonder why they changed the pinion to a smaller one? Maybe the tires are slightly bigger.
Going down a tooth was probably to get back some of the pep since it gained weight. Also, it could have been to address the cooling issues. If you drive it hard you end up playing chicken with overheating on the V1. Lots of folks swap out the fan for higher volume fans which help about as much as dropping a tooth on the pinion.
The tires are definitely taller, hence the gear change.
