    Glad you brought up Etsy. Not only is there a ton of work involved, but new stores now have to pay $15 to open and the chances of getting shut down permanently right off the bat are pretty high.

      I am successful on ETSY. No shutdown. Don't try to sell trademarked items and you are good to go. Be original. It certainly takes all the hassle away with regards to customer service etc. passive means just that. Create product, list it and go. Check your statistics, do some advertising. It's not free. No real business is.

      Hey sorry for just getting back to you on this, been slammed lately! I'll see if I can put together a new video with the best application tips, but here's the one I made previously and it all still holds true today: ua-cam.com/video/sKP0AOVbiq8/v-deo.html The only main changes are that they've become more selective than years ago, a lot of it has to do with timing of application unfortunately, and that you can reapply as many times as needed by using a different email address (I've spoken to a lot of people now who have been accepted on their 2nd/3rd/7th/etc try applying with a different email address). Once you're in, you're in, and it's well worth it to spend the effort on the front end. If worst comes to worst and you can't get in, you can definitely still build up a very solid income stream from Teepublic and Redbubble alone.

    Its been a relief to see that there is a difference between active and passive POD. I had no idea! All ive known about is the active model and honestly its been overwhelming to take the plunge. I could see myself starting the passive model in the next couple of weeks. One question: many gurus in the active model recommend setting up an LLC once things get going well. Is that needed for the passive model? Seems to me like its more gig or commission based kinda like DoorDash. What do you recommend and do you have a video addressing this topic? I am very interested in the Amazon Merch site. My wife buys a ton to clothes and tshirts for the kids but i hear it can be hard to get accepted. Any more detailed info on them is appreciated as well.

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Місяць тому +2

      I totally agree, and that's great to hear it's helpful seeing the difference. Great question on the LLC. In short, no you don't need one for Passive POD, but once you get to $50k/yr profit, it starts to be beneficial in keeping things organized. Here's a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/NbV-awn1lng/v-deo.html If you run into any questions as you get rolling just let me know!

      @@GregGottfried Do you need to make a business name on Merch by Amazon? Should I use my personal Amazon account or set up a new account with business email even if I'm not an LLC? Can that even be done without getting into trouble with the gov for selling under another name, etc? So many nuances and variables! I found your video from 4 yrs ago on how to get accepted. Any new info on that front?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Місяць тому +2

      No worries! With print on demand, we're more like a freelancer being paid commissions or royalties, rather than being the actual business ourselves (that's the POD websites themselves). So you can come up with your own name, you don't have to formally register it or anything. And you can use personal email addresses and all. I hope that's helpful!

      Yeah it's good to see your name pop up! They made some big company vision changes (with new management) and started catering to established creators (essentially they went to Active POD). I replaced them with Teepublic in my process.

    Does your logo have to be trademarks. I read your logo can be taken ?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Місяць тому +6

      Great question. If you made the design yourself, you technically own the copyright to it informally by being the original work creator. This means if someone copies your design, you can email the POD website and report it. They will look to see that you uploaded it first, and that it is in fact a copy, and they will remove it. If you wanted to go further, you can formally protect your designs for about $500 each with the government.. I've done it in the past and I dont recommend it.. The only difference is if you need to go to court (would not likely ever get to this point), you would be able to show proof of formal protection filed. I hope that makes sense and helps!
