I've made super similar seasoned chickpeas just like this, but I had the oven on 450, cooked a bit less time, and they become a great crunchy snack. :D
Jessica, I zeroed in on your comment -- it's ok to keep dinners more simple. I've been cooking plant-based 5 years now for hubby and me and getting tired of longs days in the kitchen. I think I'm trying too hard. You're both a bright spot on youtube, keep it up!
I *love* roasted chickpeas! My spice mix is 1/2 tsp each of garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and cayenne (spicy!). Sometimes, I also add the a little bit of dried dill. I like mine crispier, so I have to put them in the oven on 425 degrees for 1/2 hour. My favorite way to eat roasted chickpeas is in lettuce boats topped with either dried chives, a little nutritional yeast and/or no salt mustard and serve with a baked potato or steamed veggies. Looking forward to trying your recipe!!
I'll have to try this! I normally roast mine in a cast iron in the oven with some liquid smoke, chipotle powder, onion and garlic powder, maple syrup, and pepper.
some black pepper will help your body absorb the benefits of the turmeric powder. just that much more healthy while still being super tasty. great tossed in a salad too. hey, were are your veggies to round out that yummy dinner! peace
I found an amazing gadget for pressing tofu. It's called something like "that tofu thing". Found it online. It's made in the UK and is high quality and works very very well. A bit pricey, but I would buy it again tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your fabulous recipes.
Love it when Peef gets involved. He is a great contributor who pays attention. He should appear more often and perhaps comment as to how much he enjoys your various recipes. He wants to become and stay healthy along with you guys. Wise little dude. And yes, pls come out with your very own cookbook.
Thanks for sharing this recipe, I love roasted veggies, and chickpeas, but haven't made too many recipes with them. This looks SO yummy. You guys are extremely cute and you both look fabulous...Brian's haircut makes him look very handsome. You've both done such a good job changing over to a healthy lifestyle and you truly look much healthier than the first video I watched. You're very lucky to have such a strong relationship, your love and support of one another is very sweet and I admire you for having a loving partner who has you back. Kinda gives me hope that there's someone out there for me. You guys rock! 🌻
Hi Jen and Brian. I make my ketchup and use extra vinegar for longer life in fridge. So I use 1/2 tbs. vinegar for each 1/2 cup of catsup. taste until you get a nice Tangy flavor. I also use a little of vinegar in my bean soups chili and whatever you like. it makes it more creamier, and gets rid of anything that may be too bitter. you just made me so hungry. love the Inspiration you give us. thanks to both of you.
Hi guys! Love your videos - try Sazon seasoning to give your foods a Latino flavor (sooo good). Use it instead of the bouillon in your mashed potatoes, chili, beans, chick peas, etc. It probably contains less sodium overall. And please don't be afraid of MSG - it's one of the best things out there that has gotten a bad rap - research it yourself to find out. Thank you again for your videos 😊
Which I could use it with the MSG, but I have a horrid reaction to MSG, so I avoid it in seasonings. Oh, I found an online recipe that I can make my own without MSG or salt.
@@benjigirl1971 That is an untrue rumor that has been debunked many times. All negative reports are purely anecdotal and have not been replicated in controlled scientific studies.
Jenna Wingate actually if you look up independent studies (not the industry funded ones you are referring to, you’ll find that MSG is indeed a neuro toxin, which is why so many people have terrible reactions. Thanks for these recipes. Only very recently discovered you and loving your videos. Watching from Australia. Congratulations to you both on your amazing weight loss.😊🐾
guys, huge thanks for your videos! I am on wf plant based lifestyle for other reasons but you are great inspiration and are very motivating no matter the cause one is going healthy vegan :) keep it up!
Ok, I just have to say something! There have been a few people in my life that I just like to listen to just because they have a calming effect on me. I mean I think I can feel my blood pressure actually go down while they have my attention! Dillon Holmes from “Well Your World” is like that for me, listening to my favorite preacher on UA-cam & oddly enough Judge Judy is like that for me!😁 But now I get to add the Krocks!! Please keep on doing what you do! I’ve watched all your videos & I’ve started back at the beginning & have started rewatching them! (WOW what a difference in y’all!!) I NEED MORE “Krocks in the Kitchen!!” Would you consider quitting your jobs & just make videos all day?!? No?!? Oh well I will try & get by!!😁 Love you guys!!♥️
Thank you so much! That is awesome to hear! We would love to get to the point where we could do this full time. Who knows if or when that will happen but it could very well be in our future. But the more you watch, and the more the community grows, the closer we get to that dream. 🙂
The crispy ones can be bought in Indian shops often - though they likely have salt and oil in their manufacture - I have never thought of then as an accompaniment in a meal more an item to go in a salad but I might try them for an evening meal. Sunday is bean and rice cooking day so I think I will be doing chickpeas today as we are out of hummus!?! and I made some walnut and garlic dip yesterday to compensate.
The crispy ones that you mentioned - are they crunchy like peanuts? The reason that I asked is that I've had some like that once (when I dated someone from Lebanon), and they were really good. Now I can't find anything about them.
Thanks for the recipe. I already have chickpes cooked from dry. Also i learned (you're recipe inspired me to look it up) that coconut aminos have about 1/3 the sodium of soy sauce, just 113 per teaspoon so thats not too bad.
You two are super adorable! I love this chickpea recipe. I don't have any coconut aminos, but it is on my grocery list. I think I will toss in a little Harissa (which is spicy). Can't wait to try this and add it to my salads! For now though, I am off to make a huge pot of soup! Have a great day!
Any other UB40 fans watch these videos and ALWAYS start humming, "There's a Krock in the kitchen what Im a gonna do, there's a Krock in the kitchen what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna meet that Krock! Ooooh yeah." just adds to the fun!
Hey Krocks are you in the kitchen well hi , I watch your videos and really enjoy them, I just wanted to give you a heads up on a cheese sauce on Jill McKeever's channel maybe you've tried it but if not it's really good , made with oatmeal nooch water and some other ingredients thought you might like it , anyway just wanted to say hi and good job on what you two are doing ,that being said hope you have a great day 🙂
You guys are looking so great after losing the weight......Good simple recipes to eat vegan. I've been doing vegan for almost 8 years..I'm getting to be a pretty great cook yet my recipes are rather easy..I'm learning what to keep in my kitchen to make everything with veggies...Although I eat some oil in my salads and I use a bit of oil before I do my stir fry veggies with tofu.
I think I have tried about every season mix that I can think of. Lol. Taco, old bay, Asian with soy and wasabi, curry, Greek seasoning. One of my favorites is the onion garlic Mrs dash! I haven’t found one yet that I didn’t like. Although the herby ones tend to burn a lot faster.
Just made this,. After the 20 min mark when I was debating on leaving them in for another 10 minutes, one of them popped loudly and scared the bejeezus out of me. So I considered them done. They were very tasty on my salad!
I have never roasted chickpeas with no oil, but I would love to!! I want to make these myself, but I would like them to come out *crunchy* (don't personally like them chewy) AND I don't have an air fryer. Hmmm... 🤔 Maybe at 400°F in the oven? Could they all get uniformly crunchy with no oil and no air fryer? PS I love your videos and I've made several of your recipes, they never disappoint 💕
When I use dry chickpeas soaked in water for 24 hours like Chef John from Food Wishes does (and leaving out the oil), they're much crunchier, but I still don't get uniformly crunchy. Some are super loud crunchy, and some are just crunchy still with noise, but not as loud. One of the benefits of using oil is that it cooks things more evenly, so I think there's always going to be a bit of variation. I don't recommend raising the heat of your oven, because you don't want the outside to get cooked much faster than the inside. The outside will become burnt and bitter before you can get the inside dry enough to be crunchy.
I bought a bunch of garbanzo beans a couple weeks ago for this very purpose and then never got around to it. Doing some meal prep and happen to have all the spices and took the frozen tofu out to thaw earlier, so it sounds like I've got some cooking to finish up today.
I made these after watching your video but I didn't have all of the seasonings so I used jerk seasoning that I make instead. I ate the whole can by myself. Now I need to go shopping and buy the right spices.so I can try the real recipe. :)
We've been vegetarians/vegans for 15 years and we have 3 steak knives left. Lol. We pass them around at dinner time if they're needed for grilled tofu. We call them "family knives".
good recipy, will try.do you eat avocado, coconuts, seeds like chia, falaxseeds,do you eat any other fruits than bananas, like dates berries and other fruits?
Peef is a good helper. I think he's been read to before. I'm so glad you mentioned the aqua faba. It's taken me a long time to discover what it is. Got any uses for aqua faba?
I wonder if adding a tsp of maple syrup would make a sweet version or if it would taste burnt? do they keep well or do you need to heat them each time before using? it seems like they would be good to make batches of for salads for the week....
Keep an aloe plant to use on your burns....helps the sting stop sooner. And btw....I love Brians spicy ketchup!! Now if I can find an oil free butter recipe I'd be good. LOL!
I'm not sure what regular aminos taste like, but the coconut aminos are sweet, salty, a bit of a caramelized flavor. Doesn't taste like coconut though, so it's very versatile in all sorts of dishes.

Coconut aminos are sweet and the regular ones are salty.

You never talk about pickles, and I wonder why?
