    As a beginner learning CAD just for the fun of 3D printing models I've made, this video is INSANELY valuable. I don't want to sit on a 2 hour deep dive. I just need to be a fly on the wall to watch someone solve some common spatial problems. This is exactly it. Thank you for this amazing video, I just subbed and hope to see more!

    At 9:00 I skipped mathing thing at all. Just edit first sketch and add outer dimension construction lines. Use them for extrude distance. Giving you more control with first sketch as well

    I normally don't comment on videos but I've been using OnShape for several years now as a hobbyist and you did at least 3 things in this video that blew my mind as I had no idea those quality of life features were there in the software. Just those 3 things will save me a ton of time and frustration doing it the tedious way (ie, sketches that I apparently don't need, switching between lines and curves, ...). Thanks a ton!!!

    Wow I finally got one right! I couldn't remove the faces in steps 6 and 7 for some reason. Not sure what I did wrong so had to come at it a different way.

    Always useful for users to see alternative approaches to modelling and benchmark their performance to others. I followed the Onshape VS Solidworks competition on this part. Without the stopwatch in another program I use, my first times were around 13 minutes - quite poor... but after practicing, practicing and much more practicing my last 3 runs were 5:22, 5:26 and 5:38. The actual winning time of the official comp was around 6:30 in the stress of battle and without prior practice, I doubt if I could match that time.
    But is there really a need to model from prints? I can understand better acquaintance with sketching methods, which is important and FUN but why the emphasis on copying prints - can anyone enlighten me please - Thanks!

    I am following the video but when I want to define the last angle for the line that is tangent to the circle I get this error: "A dimension cannot be added between a curve and one of its points."
    If anyone can help it would be amazing!

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby  4 місяці тому

      Try this:
      1. Enter the sketch
      2. Choose USE on the sketching toolbar
      3. Choose the circle from the model
      4. Exit the USE command
      Then try adding the tangent relationship
      If that doesnt work - try hitting up the DISCORD - you can drop images a little easier in there (in the #practice-models channel)
