One of my favorite BC songs. I love the change in tempo and the changes from a smoother guitar sound to a more raw with scratching. Porrohman, Just a Shadow and this are great album ending songs.
Thank you for covering Big Country. So underrated and you obviously get them. Hope you get to go back and see some of their stuff live as they're even better live.
Hi Matt, I just saw you’d put this one up as I was passing through and my interest was piqued as I used to be a big fan of Stuart Adamson & Big Country. I really love this track they are such a great band with a very individual style. I love the double time at the end (very much Scottish Reel tempo), and at the start like you, I could feel the gentle roll of the waves bearing us off on a voyage. Haven’t been following your journey with Big Country, maybe I’ll go back and take a look. Naughty Lucca…she’s in a lively and mischievous mood today. Does she get outside to let off steam, or is it too dangerous a neighbourhood to let her roam in? I live in the middle of the countryside and my two cats Oscar & Willow can roam around the fields and explore when they get bored indoors. Cats are great company wherever and however your circumstances.
@@mattsnider2667 I'll wager those lips were never used as a dinghy, crashing on the waves as Bill Cosby yelled "women and children first!", to his first mate Michael Jackson.
What would you be if the waves set you free And the wind in your hair brought you sailing to me Tied up on the shore would you weary no more? When will it be, when will it be What would I be if a hurricane came Would I be clever, would I be shamed Would I lie helpless, cast up on the flames What will I be, what will I be I will be here forever Till the river runs into the sea I will always be silent And hold my head up Till we will be sailors no more Where would we go To the sand or the snow Wander in memories or let them all go Would we be dreamers, helplessly so Where would we go, where would we go I will be here forever Till the river runs into the sea I will always be silent And hold my head up Till we will be sailors no more I will be here forever Till the river runs into the sea I will always be silent And hold my head up Till we will be sailors no more Let's run right out of the city tonight With our hair tied up and lips sealed tight I will cry no more, I said I will cry no more Like an empty tourist at the world fair I could only stand and stare And let it pass by me, let it pass me by I never should have said out loud That I wanted to save the world But I let it slip away, I just let it slip away The only thing I wanted to be Was the perfect one who killed for free And I will try no more, I say I will try no more But now we are together we won't turn back Where the boats are burned and the ties are black And I will cry no more, I will cry no more. 💙
Matthew, I feel your pain of Lucca's misdeeds. Today, there was a tabby cat sat outside my French doors, staring at me. After 30 seconds it ran off. I know that this anecdote has made your day!
That fucking ending! It really is the best th9ng they ever done!

Oh wow, yes, I would love to hear that! Cheers for the tip.

Matt lives in LA. If he let Lucca out, she would ditch him for someone in Malibu.
@@handsolo1209 Ah..she might not survive at all on the streets in L.A….I’d probably keep my cats indoors too if I lived there!
@@marjoriemcbride6557 I agree. You get weird guys in terrible Adidas tracksuit pants hanging around there.

Do you reckon it is the same sailor that wanted a story and a kiss from Baldrick?
I fear he HAS A WOMAN'S LIPS!

You reacted to this on the day of the annual Calcutta Cup match. I shall return afterwards to let you know if you were a good omen for Scotland.
You and I could be having to drown our sorrows with a good bevvy later on, my Scottish friend!
@@marjoriemcbride6557Matt was a good omen!
@@handsolo1209 It was definitely that! Great to beat the auld enemy yet again…I’ve had a few wee snifters to celebrate! 🏴🥃
What would you be if the waves set you free
And the wind in your hair brought you sailing to me
Tied up on the shore would you weary no more?
When will it be, when will it be
What would I be if a hurricane came
Would I be clever, would I be shamed
Would I lie helpless, cast up on the flames
What will I be, what will I be
I will be here forever
Till the river runs into the sea
I will always be silent
And hold my head up
Till we will be sailors no more
Where would we go
To the sand or the snow
Wander in memories or let them all go
Would we be dreamers, helplessly so
Where would we go, where would we go
I will be here forever
Till the river runs into the sea
I will always be silent
And hold my head up
Till we will be sailors no more
I will be here forever
Till the river runs into the sea
I will always be silent
And hold my head up
Till we will be sailors no more
Let's run right out of the city tonight
With our hair tied up and lips sealed tight
I will cry no more, I said I will cry no more
Like an empty tourist at the world fair
I could only stand and stare
And let it pass by me, let it pass me by
I never should have said out loud
That I wanted to save the world
But I let it slip away, I just let it slip away
The only thing I wanted to be
Was the perfect one who killed for free
And I will try no more, I say I will try no more
But now we are together we won't turn back
Where the boats are burned and the ties are black
And I will cry no more, I will cry no more. 💙
😘
