How to buy fireworks online (wholesale 2023)

- Are you spending more than $500 a year on fireworks? If yes, you should consider buying fireworks online at wholesale prices! In this video, I show you where to buy fireworks, how to get better prices, and some good fireworks to buy, plus I share my experience purchasing fireworks too. I purchased 30 cases of fireworks, including many pro-line items, for just over $3,000, including shipping.
All of this is done on Spirit of 76's website: 76fireworks.com. You will need to create an account and will automatically get Silver pricing ($500 minimum). If you plan on spending more, apply for Gold Pricing ($2000 minimum) for an additional ~25% off Silver pricing. If you know other people that buy fireworks from your community, work, church, etc., get everyone together to qualify for higher pricing discounts!
Spirit of 76 is home to 76 Pro Line, Tako, Sky Bacon, and Real Tree firework brands. I personally buy products from them every year for various reasons.
Yes, fireworks can be shipped but not to all states. Spirit of 76 is the best to answer your shipping questions. If you cannot ship to your location, consider shipping to the nearest distribution center and picking them up yourself. This is a great way to save money on residential and lift gate shipping costs. Of course, you can always pick up the product at Spirit's facility too!

We get to the highest discount level in a big group buy every year. Some times guys will split cases, but mostly we are happy to buy full cases. It’s very good pricing.
That's the way to do it! With show design, I only want cases haha. For regular videos, buying by the piece is more favorable

Comes down to planning and preparation is one person just blowing off fireworks to have fun or trying to create a show. Excitement just to blow things off is great, with that the thought process is not clear for creating a show. Buying a few days before and event just creates blowing off fireworks. I believe when buying whole sale the thoughts of creating a show starts to happen and that is the exciting part. To actually visualize and prepare a show is most of the fun. Another very informative video and yes I ordered 2 pallets wholesale this year but not from S76. I ordered 1 from red apple during their early Black Friday which is the best sale of the year. The second from superior in February when they had there best prices of the year. As I expand my fireworks show and knowledge I will branch out to other companies like S76. Thanks for the very informative video.

Superior makes some great stuff. I have a few of their Showline items in my show this year too. I haven't purchased from Red Apple before.

I know this is an old video but there's some thing I would like to add:
I will typically buy two years of firework shows instead of one per year just so I can easily meet quantity discounts. I also buy my fireworks at multiple times a year through multiple retailers.
I've found The best time to buy fireworks is about a month after the 4th of july, and a month after New years. Many retailers like WFboom, Red Apple, and American wholesale Fireworks will "fire sale" a bunch of their cases for up to 40% off, sometimes even ON TOP of the wholesale discount.
For example, I'm picking up some "Don't mess with me" canister shell kits from WFboom for $148 a case for a 4/24. That works out to be $1.54 a shell. I can't find pricing like that anywhere. I also picked up a case of 6/36 "Corona" rockets from Red apple in 2022 for $150 in February. That's 69 cents a rocket and I'm still using up that case.
This is a great guide for people but if you have somewhere you can store your fireworks you can save even more.
I got a wholesaler near me with the same prices and let's me get it by the piece. Its crazy how much retailers charge

It is easy when you can do that in a state where you live at. But those who live in the states, they don't ship to those states because of the law. It's not fair😂

@@thunderbomb515 Absolutely! Most companies want you to prove you are competent enough to purchase. This can include a training certificate from a pro company, PGI certificate (probably the most common), and sometimes depending on your experience. For example, are you in any pyro clubs?

Go to discount fireworks in Ripon Wisconsin, don’t need nothing and he has wholesale prices on Everuthing when buying individually, a lot of 500 gram cakes for 20-25 bucks, most of his 200 gram cakes are 7-10 bucks at most, 350 gram ones are 14-17

Always support your true pyro enthusiasts local stands/tents. I buy a lot of wholesale but I always spend around 1k at my local place. Having a great friendship can be very beneficial. Some give free fireworks, good discounts, and even bring recommended brands not common to your area. Whats also super cool is you can sometimes find pyro treasures! Yes, pyro treasure! Some places will have old pyro collectors would love to have. I have found bricks, spinners, even old fountains at my local stands and 1 warehouse. Wholesale is great for big buyers but as I said leave a little for your special places.
I totally agree! I still buy fireworks all the time from various shops lol. Granted, half the time when I do people tell me I should buy wholesale or that the place is overpriced. Can't win them all I suppose. Awesome on your pyro treasures! Those are always the best experiences

Great video! I also really liked your last wholes video from a couple years ago. What made you switch from American Wholesale? I see 76 has much cheaper prices but the shipping is about double and they apply tax. So its basically a wash right?
I have purchased from So76 every year for the last six years. I really like their proline and how they have integrated everything together. They also are one of the leaders in new effects and continuing development. They also support many pyro events throughout the year, so I am fine paying a bit more on some things knowing all of that. I have also purchased from American and will continue to buy from both going forward!
Another thing to point out, some wholesalers will have club pricing if you are part of your local firework club.
Firework clubs are a great way to get higher discount tiers and a lot of times, free delivery to events! I normally take advantage of that during Sky Wars for example.
Say i do a 2k buy tier and i want it shiped to reno NV about how much would shiping cost be i seen the priceing with out shipping looks good just curious how much shipping cost on a pallet or half pallet ?

Do yourselves a favor and get the type 54 license from the ATF, much better pricing and quality out there. For example: 72 3" professional display mortars are about 170. 500 2/1 display racks are 350. 5" shells for less than $60 in some cases.
Yeah that's a great route for many. I'm still fine staying in the 1.4 world. I help with enough professional shows that I don't feel the need to bring them into my own show.
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics The mix of consumer/prosumer/pro is best. I agree with you that labeled; 1.3 proline being mostly consumed by the general public for most events are fantastic. It's the use of such-with good firing systems and care, that makes a show great. I only advocate the certification for those wanting the edge on quality and quantity with good safety practice and awareness. Also the ability to engage with the local law enforcement and fire department/Ems for larger displays.
I sent a few larger shells and racks off this past New Year's Eve with epic crowd response. Juneteenth and the Fourth of July this year are going to be something else for my hood as a neighborhood as a result.

Where do you store your cases of extra fireworks through out the year. I live in Colorado and we get all the weather here. So was curious to know if them being stored in a garage that gets super cold in the winter and super hot in the summer would have a negative effect on the fireworks? I really enjoyed the informational video. Sadly didn’t know about wholesale until after my purchase for this year.
Glad you enjoyed! As long as you keep the fireworks dry, they will be fine in the cold/hot temperature swings. Most firework warehouses are not temp controlled and they sit in extreme heat in the shipping containers coming across the ocean. Ideally, store them in an out building if you can.

Absolutely! They do drop shipping for large orders as well. I'd give them a call to get some more information, but I know they have a 10k pricing discount and a container deal as well. A whole container is pretty normal for a seasonal tent.

you can get a 1.3 license through the ATF
I'm not planning a stash video, only because I'll be showing off items going up in the show throughout the Setup series. I have way too many fireworks to get out of storage for the stash video, so I am preferring to only show what I'll be using when I'll be working on it. That might change next year!
I do not have a strong opinion one way or the other on Red Apple. If the pricing is good, I'd say go for it.
What are you looking to do with the firing system? There are a lot of great systems out there for various reasons. If you're going more the budget route to get your feet wet, look at FireFly or Ignite. If you want the investment system for long term growth, I'd look at FireTek or Cobra. I'm currently trying to switch all of my Cobra to FireTek.
To buy 1.4 pro, you have to show some level of competency. This can be a training certificate from a pro company, state shooters license, ATF type 54, or something like the PGI Shooter's Course certificate (probably the most common). If you are in any pyro clubs, they may also accept that.

Good Information...In my neck of the woods, (Pennsylvania, Ohio, West VA) you get the best wholesale pricing if you buy in the off-season. Usually January-April, depending. I personally would not buy wholesale in May or June.
Traditionally, you're totally correct. 2022 and 2023, people have been running deals all year round where "early bird" discounts are really not much different than later deals. WFBoom is one that does some killer deals in Jan/Feb, but So76 has discounted shipping and additional free cases through June. AWF has been running promos non stop since last July too lol

Excellent video, but I’m not sure what you mean by a distribution center? For instance, I’m in NC, where these are illegal, but a short trip to SC, where they are legal. Thanks! ( I miss Indiana and Nevada)
A freight distribution center, such as FedEx. Basically ship it to the next state over and go pick it up at the distribution center. Some states have weird shipping laws even though fireworks are legal, so this is quite a common practice.

Great question! This was super easy to do. You can specify to have it shipped to a terminal's address. In this case, I picked up a terminal only to ensure the delivery day. They (the shipping company) called me and said they couldn't get it to me on the day I wanted. I told them I would pick up from their terminal instead. Show up, go to office, "I'm here for a pick up", sign the release paper and load up. Even shipments that have came all the way to my location will call you to make sure someone is there for the delivery window and they always ask me if I would prefer to pickup at the terminal (to save them the trip lol).

when you go to pickup and say I'm here for pickup do you get the skid or can you destack the skid and put in van/car and not have to bring a pickup truck to put whole skid in bed?
is there a extra fee for using their location because of hazmat or is that accounted for in the shipping fee?

@@AdaKurFireworks I'd ask the seller what they advise. I've seen it laid out differently on different websites. No additional fee for terminal pickup. You can break pallets down, or take the whole thing. I've done terminal pickup three times with three different shipping companies/wholesalers and each time I broke the skid down and left it there.
Do you think the Washington firework assortment is a good purchase? Looking at buying several other things as well.
Yeah, it all comes down to the items inside! The big assortments are normally not worth it but cake assortment cases are generally a great idea

How does it work when trying to ship to a states that are less fireworks friendly? I.e. Maryland
I believe Maryland is a federal law issue. Meaning you'd have to ship to a neighboring state. If you had a permit or license, you could probably get around that. I'd give Spirit a call and ask them directly too.
$1800 at the tent is like 8 500g cakes, at phantom it's maybe 4.

To my understanding, yes they can ship to NC and so can other wholesalers. Most wholesalers will tell you that you are the one responsible to make sure you're legally able to receive the fireworks. Meaning, they do not care once they leave their facility so you wouldn't need to show proof of permits to them.

How do you get them to ship to Ohio? I tried with another company and they wouldn’t since I do not have a wholesalers license. Any input on that?
Ohio doesn't like fireworks being shipped to the state unfortunately. Shipping to one of the neighbor states if going to be your best bet.
what license do i need to get the proline stuff?
If you have one of the following, most places are going to let you buy proline.
1) PGI Shooter's Course Certificate (probably the most common one)
2) Training from a pro company (call up your local display company and ask if they have an annual training you can attend. They are usually held in Spring though).
3) State shooter's license.
4) ATF Type 54
5) Some places will accept a pyro club membership.
The PGI course is held at a lot of events throughout the year and is what I personally would recommend doing. Let me know if you need more info on that.

They are either going to another state and brining it back, or something is going to another state and then selling it in California lol
I run a tent every year for Jakes fireworks which is Wholesale Fireworks. Our prices are as competitive as these guys and we have a VIP program and I give out hundreds of free fireworks. I can beat these guys all day long. Yes, this video is true when compared to most firework shops but not the one I run every year.

A shop at Jake's fireworks here in Oklahoma every year from mine they have six shot artillery shell single tube 8.99$ then they got the half off cakes and stuff I got some really awesome 9 shot cakes for 3.50$ Called with a bang or something like that
Spirit of 76 is just so expensive even for wholesale. They do make a good product though.
As long as they maintain their quality and extra circulars (innovating effects, sponsoring all the pyro events, etc.), I am fine paying a bit more for their product.

I convince people like this, "Take how much you spend on fireworks every year. Multiply by 4. If it's more than $1000, you should buy wholesale. You'll end up with 4 years worth of works for the same cost, but likely have way more and better products."

That shipping price is a lot lower than I expected. Next year I will be going wholesale. One question. If it were delivered to my door. Do you know how much more that would cost?
You can punch all those details in, and it will give you a real estimate. If it adds a ton of cost, I recommend shipping to a distribution center, or if you know someone with a business address, use that instead.
I agree that Wholesale is the way to purchase fireworks, I know trying to obtain the ATF type 54 License which allows one to fire Professional shows, can be difficult to acquire.. How does one apply for the certificate to purchase the special proline products. which I would hope is not in the category as the type 54.. Thank you for the vids..
You're welcome! If you are going to get your ATF type 54, it would qualify for proline. You do not need your ATF type 54 to shoot pro shows though. That license only allows/regulates purchasing and storage of 1.3. Each state has their own professional shooter requirements and if you had a pro license for a state, that would also qualify for pro line. The most common is something like the PGI Shooter's Course.

How can you choose to ship to a distribution facility and go pickup there?
for cakes the "12/1" means there is 12 cakes per case. pretty clear right? But for Canister Shells there are a whole bunch that say "12/6" or "6/12" and that makes less sense to me, would you care to explain? (either Joel or someone who knows pls)
Absolutely! The first number is how many packages are in the case and the second number is how many items are in each package. So 12/6 is 12 packages of 6 shells. Reverse for 6/12, so 6 packages of 12 shells. 4/24 is the same thing, four packages of 24 shells.
If you see something like 4/3 for cakes, it is because it's an assortment of three cakes and you would have four total packages, or four of each of the cakes in the assortment.

Still not great pricing. Every state has shipping laws. Unless you're paying 10k, you can get a 76 price from a local owner. In TX, I sell wholesale and zero shipping. Those prices your showing are my store prices. BTW, going to the distribution center, enjoy them checking for hazmat. Other benefits I offer is selling cases with 12 , 16, or 18 different products. Same with 500gram cakes.
Please drop your store link so we can check it out! All shipments are shipped hazmat, so I am unsure what you mean there. Assorted cases are a great way to go and is also why I mentioned that in this video.

Sometimes like in TX for example, when you pick up at the hub and drive out with over a thousand pounds of powder weight with out insurance and hazmat, bam, easy confiscation and fine. I'll ship all the samples thrown at me and mix the cases up. If a case is 12/1 then I'll find 12 different products and put cases together. My wife does a make a wish fundraiser and has a customer base and has me put shows together with customers who are serious about their fireworks

All four categories above can be mixed up like land of the free.
Point is, know the owner of a stand, tent, small warehouse and they can do this and your not shipping anything and you know there products. I move all brands from megabanger to WC. Places like Red apple are using a rewrap. Big thunder double artilleries, peel off foil and its great grizzly.
I believe in buy local but I've seen folks really mark up the prices but I've showed the smaller guys how to do folks right instead of pen to paper. I love 76 warehouse, great story about the man who set it up. Also, the case cardboard tells me the quality of what's in their containers.

If you're buying wholesale, absolutely. There are a handful of retail stores that have very favorable pricing, but most have insane markups compared to wholesale.

Wholesalers will ship to Illinois, but it is best to check your state and local laws to see if you need an additional permit etc. The good news, you have a lot of options in neighboring states if you're up for a drive! Or ship to a neighboring state depot for pickup.

That will depend on your state. In my state, I do not need a license or permit to buy fireworks and ship to my home. Some states do not allow shipping at all (such as California) and some may require a permit to purchase.

Tennessee shouldn't be an issue, but you'd have to confirm that with them.

Hawaii is one of the states that doesn't allow fireworks to be shipped there. Unless you have a permit for a show or something along those lines.

You'd have to ask them. I know Nevada doesn't like shipping fireworks TO the state generally. Even though you can buy them in Nevada, for example, Pahrump
