Unasked for tips from a hs senior who finished all her apps and got brutally rejected from her top choice: (1) don’t put too much sweat into you application. If you’re crying and getting sick over it every night just from applying, it’s not worth the stress (2) do not. Do not! Compare yourself to other kids that got in!!! Their stats will be better than yours!!! That doesn’t mean you’re not a promising applicant and it especially doesn’t mean you’re worth less as a person!! (3) apply early!! Whether it’s early decision, early action, or you just submit your regular decision application a few months early do it!! It saves you a lot of stress and you’ll get your decisions earlier so you can start focusing on important stuff like financial aid, scholarships, housing, etc. (4) only apply to schools you actually want to go to, seriously. I applied to 4 schools and an extra safety school with a free application and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Do your research before throwing a $60 app fee to a school that doesn’t even have your major. (5) don’t feel pressured tell people where you’re applying. The adults in my life were always asking where I was applying and it was annoying!! College is about you! Your applications are no ones business other than your own!! Don’t let their judgements overinfluence your life choices. If you really have to tell them- lie!! Tell them you applied to your local state college whether you actually did or not- if you tell them you applied to an ivy or top school they will never, NEVER leave you alone ((even after you get rejected))!!! (6) have fun lol. College is only 4 years of your life (that’s a really short time!!)- it does not define your life or your accomplishments or your value
Thank u so much for this advice! I prolly don’t sound like myself but yea lol thank you. I’m going to be a senior after this summer and I’m thinking of starting now with like drafts and stuff for my apps and I don’t even know like where to start like what should be on there and stuff like that I might look that up

@amazingness7513 i thinks she is okay, just in a new phase in life without UA-cam. You know she was more than 7 years on here and UA-cam can take a lot of time, so now she is just focusing on other things in life. Her youtube description says she graduated, exited her "influencer era" and will post from time to time when she feels like it:)
As a sophomore in high school, I'm starting to think about college and I feel like this video was super helpful! Thank you Jasmine and everyone who was interviewed
From a senior who finished his applications, I would start applying to scholarships because even if you don’t think you’ll get the money initially, you start thinking about who you are and your interests early on and how you can write it out (since some scholarships require essays). This helped me because I didn’t get confused about how to show “me” in an essay when applications were due; I already figured most of it out when I was applying to scholarships my junior year. So basically you get more practice writing about yourself and you can recycle some essays for the actual applications!
@@kevingc537 Heyo! A question for both of you (If you don't mind-) How tough would you say high school was for you? Tips? How do you apply for scholarships? When writing your application to get into college, anything we should be aware of? And finally: What's your favorite color :D It would mean a lot to me if you could answer them if you don't, that's fine too! Sincerely, an 8th grader
@@ImmortalsArentHappy 1. High school was initially kinda easy because freshman and sophomore year I only had tot eh do the bare minimum. Junior and senior year was much more difficult cause you're doing more AP classes and becoming much more involved in extracurriculars so maintaining that balance was not easy. 2. Collegeboard has a scholarship search engine where you can type keywords and get access to a list of hundreds of scholarships. I didn't find those helpful because either too many people apply (especially with a higher scholarship amount) so I had no chance. I got scholarship money from local scholarships and asking my counselors for any they know of, and also search for extremely specific scholarship to your circumstance (like on your race, career interests, state, etc.) 3. If the number of applications for every college keeps increasing, then you really have to understand that even with the most amazing grades and ECs and essays, you are not guaranteed to even colleges you'll be easily accepted into. You could be rejected from your safety, and then accepted to your target or dream (and vice versa). This year and last year, acceptance rates have just dropped and admission officers are having a harder time just trying to admit the best students when there are so many talented students, so keep that in mind. 4. Blue Don't worry too much about applying for college now when you're going to be a freshman in high school; just try to get used to the new environment and workload and exploring new clubs. You can then get more in depth with college applications and scholarships and financial aid.

A word of advice from a current college student: You are doing just fine. Do your homework, spend time on your hobbies, and have fun with friends and family. If you really want to, get involved in extracurriculars you are interested in, not because of future college apps, but because sports/clubs are fun. Please don’t stress out right now you will have plenty of that in college 😀
hs senior who got into ucla this year, trust me just have fun and don't think too much about college, 8th grade was definitely the best year of my life lol
I don't know if anybody will see this, but you've genuinely changed the way I do everything, I'm a lot more organized, happier and productive, I've started trying harder in school and taking notes. (first time actually taking them) I just wanted to get this out there and say what I've been thinking, thank you!
hey it's been about over a year since you uploaded this video and i just wanna say i hope you are doing well mentally etc and that i miss your vids so i hope when you do decide to come back that you will be the best version or the healthier version of yourself
I’m a high school junior and with the idea of college apps already being drilled into my head day in and day out, this video gave me better insight in what I have coming soon. Starting to think about college is a must but as a student who’s a very slow learner, take it from me and go at your own pace. DO NOT RUSH YOUR PATH TO COLLEGE! Always think step by step because it will then become a train wreck for you. For those entering or currently in high school, take the chance and review whatever the f*ck it is that you actually want to learn and throw in some challenging or unknown classes you may or may not enjoy the idea of. Taking random classes with the idea of you not failing in gives the impression to many that you wish to increase your spectrum of curiosity and skill set that you want to build for your own self. If you fail a class thinking at the beginning you may not fail if you tried out, it gives a ‘heads up’ to yourself like “hey, this a landmark of where you stand academically and personally. Maybe this class wasn’t just right and I may need a class of a (higher/lower) difficulty in this and I need to step (up/down) from here.” Suggest yourself of how you study, what classes make you feel the best in, and what is personally dragging you down. That’s my advice. Hope it helps set your mindset on where you wanna be currently. :]

Right now, all I know is that I’ll most likely need science prerequisite for whatever I do choose to peruse, so I know I need to apply to a lot of science courses in high school. Off topic, but I just realized that at the end of this video I got an ad saying “The MCAT is HARD!”
Edit: I’m saving this video for when I do have college apps, though!

@@vIcToRiA-jn5mv When she moved back to ucla, she felt very insecure bc people were asking to take pictures (according to her, one time somebody posted that she was at _____ dining hall.) She had more depressive episodes and she lost motivation to post. she's taking an undetermined break.
EDIT: just checked and she updated her insta description (idk how long ago) "slowly and sustainably returning from hiatus" so lets hope she gets back soon!
PS: if u didnt know what hiatus means (cuz i didnt lol) it means
"a pause or gap in a sequence, series, or process"

As a transfer student I’m so happy to see other transfer students speaking out on their experience and how they could figure out what they want to do before committing to something. It really is something I think there should be less stigma about, so thanks for bringing awareness 😊
