Who has ever seen a forward with possession at the blue line at the right side of the ice move diagonally to the left wing boards at the red line? I don't think I have ever seen anyone do that before or since, but for Gretzky it worked perfectly.
Not sure if u noticed but the play between Jagr and Lemieux starting at 7:22 is almost identical. Jagr draws four Sabres over by skating across the ice from the right wing to the left leaving Lemieux open.
Trying to put my bias aside as a Bolts fan, I think Lacavalier's assist to Fedotenko is the greatest when you combine the difficulty of the assist as well as the importance of the goal (GWG of the 2004 Stanley Cup).
I read somewhere that his offensive output dipped somewhat purportedly, when in the early 1990s Scotty Bowman told him that if he wanted to win the Cup rather than merely putting up the points, he had to become more responsible defensively. It worked for him, thrice!
