First time I learned about Datsyuk was at Bruins game in Boston. No 13 kept scoring and always had the puck. I leaned over and asked a red wings fan sitting in the garden, who the hell is number 13, he is killing us. Fan told me Pavel Datsyuk. He was an amazing player and one of my favorite all time.

There's a ton of players that BEAT others in plays, but no one makes other players look as silly as Datsyuk does, and despite undressing other players, he isn't unsportsmanlike about it. While he has god-like abilities, imagine how much it helps that the person who defends against him in everyday practice is Nik Lidstrom.

That Grabovsky goal was pure poetry. A variation of the classic spinorama, it's genius and yet beautifully simple. Instead of turning a 180, make it a complete 360 to put yourself in a natural shooting position, right on the doorstep, with the goalie in the parking lot. It's sublime.

Instead of flipping the puck to the ref in the circle, he flipped it toward center ice, almost as high as the scoreboard. He skated up and caught it on his stick like it was nothing, and then flipped to the ref.
