First time I learned about Datsyuk was at Bruins game in Boston. No 13 kept scoring and always had the puck. I leaned over and asked a red wings fan sitting in the garden, who the hell is number 13, he is killing us. Fan told me Pavel Datsyuk. He was an amazing player and one of my favorite all time.
There's a ton of players that BEAT others in plays, but no one makes other players look as silly as Datsyuk does, and despite undressing other players, he isn't unsportsmanlike about it. While he has god-like abilities, imagine how much it helps that the person who defends against him in everyday practice is Nik Lidstrom.
Not only was he a great offensive player, but he was an extremely good two way player and probably the best defensive center in the league for at least 5 years
In what world is Datsyuk underrated? The guy won 2 Stanley Cups, 4 Lady Byngs and 3 Selkes amongst countless other awards and achievements. He’s first ballot HOF. No question.

Malik’s goal was my first nhl game, I was 8 years old and all these years later it is still one of my favorite moments ever. I remember running into a bunch of fans on the train home who had left early because the shout-out was going too long, they seemed to regret their decision

That Grabovsky goal was pure poetry. A variation of the classic spinorama, it's genius and yet beautifully simple. Instead of turning a 180, make it a complete 360 to put yourself in a natural shooting position, right on the doorstep, with the goalie in the parking lot. It's sublime.

I saw The Magician at a Kings /Wings game in LA. Instead of flipping the puck to the ref in the circle, he flipped it toward center ice, almost as high as the scoreboard. He skated up and caught it on his stick like it was nothing, and then flipped to the ref. Left my friend and I wondering if we'd just really seen that happen.
