Brilliant playing. Love the solo to Rosanna. Lukather is a genius.
First killer playing! I didn’t realize the quad was an interface as well (duh). I’ve been using the hx stomp through reaper and cheap computer speakers and it works fine for practice. Not close enough in tone for recording, but a lot of fun at low volume and can jam along to UA-cam, etc…
yeah most pedal boards building interface as before my helix i bought scarlett focusrite then bought helix floor and didnt need to use it then sold mu helix and bought cortex
As always a big THANK YOU Pete 😀
@Pete - super cool set up - thank you - I’ll spend some time looking at the platform. Glad to see you back there rock’in. Happy Wednesday/
Hey Pete, Check out Rise by Extreme. Nuno’s playing will melt your face off. Dig it.✌️🎸✌️
Hi Pete! Try ANYTUNE - it is a player for your backing tracks - and you can set a input (quad cortex) to mix with your backing track - so you don't need logic (only one software for the same trick) - it has a ton of other features for practice as well (Slow down, markers, pitch ..., playlist for different shows, loot parts)! best Steve!
They give Loch Nest Monster tours if you're interested. It cost tree fiddy.
Aww figured it out! Can’t wait to bring out on tour and work with it, a great little road rig.
That OG MM EVH though! 🤤
Wow! Amazing solo!
Hey thanks
As always great insight and of course phenomenal playing 💜
To be fair, you could use the original Pod in exactly the same way (as in play through it through your computer speaker) 25 years ago.
So not really much of a great revelation or 'insight'! 😂
Hope you will be able to see some scottisch landscapes. It is so beautiful there! Have fun and a good time! Cheers!
oh awesome Pete! I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who uses Transcribe for learning licks and practicing as well. :)
I do this with my Helix and good headphones. I jam along to tracks or practice while watching a movie late at night without bugging the neighbors! Hope the tour is treating you well, Pete!
ad you nailed that Lukather riff too
Damn love all the embellishments in the solo Pete! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
My entire rig (couch rock star) is a Atomic AmpliFire pedal with Altec Lansing computer speakers plugged into the headphone jack of the AA, it sound incredible, think Steve From Boston without having to use the cpu.
I DO use my laptop with PT100 plugin! I believe Kemper outs are stereo/mono line level 1/4 and xlr except it does have spidf . Though my interface doesn't have spidf, its a small usbC focusrite scarlett with two channels. I still have to use an interface anyway with the Kemper, even though the "rig manager" operates the amp controls, updates etc, through usb between the laptop and Kemper unit. I haven't found that the Kemper output audio will work directly to pc. Its easier with PT100 plugin to just .. plug in. And rock.
I use my HX Stomp like this all the time except I'm usually hooked up to studio monitors. Cheers Pete!
Welcome to Scotland Pete! I'm hoping I'll see you on your next tour 🤘
Pete great to see U looking so good Brother was thinking U would be miserable! But seems U got better and again U got the hottest likes & best Chops! Find Nessee!!?? And Enjoy your Jam and TY 4 Tips brother U Rock N ROLL,Stay Healthy and Safe Brother 🤠🤘 🎸
KIller EBMM EVH guitar! The Dimarzio's in those guitars are the best Dimarzio's i ever heard!
I have the Axis which is basically the same guitar with the same Dimarzio's and i get a cool tele on roids tone!
🤔 wow thanks Pete I didn’t know that appreciate the tip an stay safe on Road! 👍🏾🎸
The MacbookPro 16inch speakers really sound good to begin with. Very underated laptop speaker.
I have the TONE King IR and can use it as a stand alone set up through mac book and it works great too!!
I love it! was expecting to see someone 🤣 start taking a shower when the bathroom light came on behind
Always great videos! Thanks Pete, have a great tour. 😎🎶🎸
Thank you Pete for this insight, awesome for apartment practice. Hey, I bet the Loch Ness monster prefers long scale guitars. 🎸🤘😁
That's a cool bit of kit and a very nice guitar.😄
Awesome wriffage Pete!
Pete just taking over a bathroom for practice ! Nice brown tone im sure in there
Hey Pete, a side question . You heard the new extreme song RISE, released today.
Bringing back old school hard rock with a great hook 👍
I have an EBMM EVH one-knob Axis in that exact finish. I've never heard it make those noises.
I believe you can do this without a DAW also. Just set your input as the modeler (in my case an Axe III) and the output your computer speakers. BTW, Beautiful EVH ya got there!
Way Cool, thanks for sharing.
Cool. You can do something similar with a small audio interface and virtual amp also if you don't travel with a spare QC. :)
Great Pete. I’m just defending how great the quad is to some guy who says he can’t get it to sound good. Uh I say user error. I love mine. I love my amps and pedals but the quad has the feel and sound imo closest to an amp. The pedal captures are great too. Love the EVH guitar and playing. Can’t lose with a Friedman lead amp sim.
Those laptop speakers are doing a pretty good job and the room isn't too bad either, and great playing as well.
Cool video! Also that flametop is beautiful
Nice Guitar , same I got just not Blue and not Nr.12 from 5150
Super cool !!!
FFFFFFFFF SAKES OMGOODD YOU made that sound very perky phuuur COOL
But what about that MM EVH?
Nice!
It's like Record Enabling the track makes the Laptop go E to E.
Awesome!
If you have time to answer-How would you connect a MacBook and a Quad Core to a Bose L1 system for a live gig situation? Thank you for the video-great sound!
I love learning guitar stuff from a guy who's in the bathroom!
actually you don’t need to open logic, you can use the qc in stand-alone.
Sick video 👍🏼
I'm just wondering if it's possible to run a USB cable from Pete's hands into my hands so I can play like him, he's the best!
A decent set of headphone monitors will be much more satisfying and is standalone. Backing tracks can be fed into the QC if needed and the laptop is there already.
I kinda hate practicing with headphones
@Pete Thorn Whatever works for you Pete. Clearly the practice has paid off. Love the content man. Never stop! Good luck out there.
Headphones and the QC sound horrible. The headphone amp on the thing is one of the worst I've ever used
@@JGorg8 Whatever inspires you is the way to go.
You’re fantastic 😎🤘
Nice!!
I'm not sure what the big news is here.
The original Pod could be utilised in exactly the same way back in the late 1990s.
Pete! I want to buy your EVH! Let me know! God bless!
He just got it and i am 99.9% sure it is not for sale and wont be anytime soon.
Awesome Pete A+ bro……
Sounds good enough for a pair of inexpensive laptop speakers!
Have you ever tried Mainstage BTW? Is it an overkill for the purpose?
Pete, when are you going to release your new album?
Sorry to ask, what model configuration is your Macbook Pro?
Hello Pete! Just trying this setup but only am hearing direct clean tone from the Cortex no presets connected through USB outputs set to Multi on the Cortex. Any suggestions why not hearing any presets?
Cool but why ? Vst are sounding as good and are lighter
Video on the EVH EBMM when? :D
Thanks Pete! Wondering if there would be latency issues. When I use the Helix, it works fine at first, but after around 20 minutes of playing, the latency issue kicks in and I need to reconnect everything. Did you (or anyone here) experience this with the QC? Thanks in advance!
is this work on garageband ?? i dont have logic
typo in the thumbnail, just FYI: 'Usiing' ... though that is kind of metal and cool
Oh, thank you. I will fix it later the combination of making thumbnails on my phone and having shitty eyes is often problematic
2:22 paranormal activity
i was thinking of doing this and recording straight to logic, but also using this as a practice amp. I'd probably put some decent speakers out of the laptop. It seems like it's that easy. Can anyone confirm?
Cool! Do you not get extra Latency when using the Mac speakers over using headphones on the quad cortex?
macOS audio engine is pretty fast and can be setup to have almost no latency even with built-in speakers
Did you check ToneX?
How’s the cut on your finger doing? I think modelers are great for practice like you’re using the quad but for live & recording nothing beats a real amp yet.
Nothing beats a real amp especially a great amp and great pedals but this is the first modeler I really love. The feel and the sound. The great UI. The fact I don’t need a computer and just a cell is a thumbs up for me.
Using over 1K device for warm-ups. Nice flex XD
👍👍
Can i do this with the NUX MG30?
❤
Sure beats an iRig although those are pretty cool too. Break a leg!
Just about the most compact system possible... an iRig Pro into and out of an iPod Touch. As ridiculous as it may seem, I actually used it as my live rig for years and it sounded shockingly good. There's now a Fender Mustang 'dongle' that is smaller - but it doesn't sound great and you can't control it with a foot pedal. That said, I'd absolutely love to have a Quad Cortex.
But why do I only get a dry signal? When I listen through headphones direct in the quad cortex I hear the plugs Im using, but not in Logic. Do I need to change any settings?
I have same issue, too. need solution.
@@klch2001 I learned that output 1 is dry and if I want the effects from the QC I need to use output three (input three in the DAW). When I record after learning this I record output 1 and output 3 at the same time on two different tracks so that I get both signals recorded (multiple outputs from the QC). Pretty good to have a dry signal recorded as well if you want to change the sound later.
Hope this helps, it worked for me. Still dont know why though
Hi y'all, Forgive the newbie question here. Is there any other way to do this besides using Logic Pro? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my QC to play out of my Macbook.
OK, I got it to work. However, it's a dry signal. That is, none of the effects on the QC are present. Anybody know how to get the QC effects going?
Fixed it! I had to select input's 3 & 4, rather than 1 & 2...Hopefully this helps other out!
Hi Pete, anyone knows if there is a free DAW i can use to do the same as Pete Thorn? thanks
If you’re on a Mac like me, you can just use GarageBand
@@PeteThorn merci!
Ripping
Neural should be knighted for what they bring to the table in the guitar world. Nobody right now is even close to what they are doing and it's a great time to be taking advantage of that as a guitar player!
The Pod could be played through a computer's speakers back in the 90s.
So no game changer in that aspect..
@Steve Crittall - I'm talking about the quality of guitar tones bro, not the fact you can hook up a multifx sound card.....that's ancient.
Imagine having close to 10 grand for a practice setup.
Well it’s not like I only use it this way haha I have detailed using the quad as my main rig and I use the laptop for… everything (I edited this video on it)
@@PeteThorn No hate Pete. I guess my humor is not portrayed well through text. lol.
Repeat after me;
My computer is not a guitar amplifier.
My computer is not a guitar amplifier.
My computer is not a guitar amplifier.
Carry on.
But it is though
@@PeteThorn 🤦♂️
First!
Sorry but it doesn't count because you neglected to mention his new EBMM EVH sig guitar!😁
Nice guitar!
