    Just bought my Quad Cortex today and right out the box I am amazed. The Roland twin chorus, Marshall, and Red 5150. Just those 3 sounds without editing anything make this worth every dollar. I am floored how dynamic this is. It actually sounds like the best amp I use to own. The way the bass responds and digs in. I am floored. I can't believe how tight this is with ZERO NOISE.
    Shocking.
    I also bought the ToneXone pedal last month and they are worlds apart. The sound is there, but the soul is not. It still sounds like a solid state. The QC is something else entirely. I am very happy and cannot recommend people - no matter how long - save up and buy this. I used it as my interface for the hell of it and it is beautiful.

    Hi, thanks for you video I learned quite a bit. However, regarding setting up the input gain, it should be set to 0 db for most players, otherwise it's like having a boost pedal constantly on in front of the amp and can make it almost impossible to get chimey tones with some guitars, particularly humbuckers.
    The amp models are setup to receive a normal guitar level input just like a real amp, you don't need to boost it. If you want more gain you can use the amp's gain.

    Hey man! I really appreciate your videos on the QC. I’ve been thinking about making the switch from the Kemper, and a few of your videos have proved helpful and given me a lot of food for thought.
    I did have a question… have you experienced any latency issues with scenes that have a lot of effects or captures? I’ve seen a couple guys talking about this on a few Kemper forums and a few videos on UA-cam… would love to know if these issues are few and far between, or if you have experienced this yourself.

    Great video man! Question! What if want to put down my guitar for a minute and use QC as an audio interface and just listen to music from my Macbook via Spotify, Apple Music or on youtube? Can I do that? Is it just a matter of keeping it connected to my mac via USB, having monitors connected to the two XLR outputs and having the QC turned on?

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  Рік тому +1

      I have my studio monitors connected to my interface (Antelope Audio Zen Go TB) and just find it easier to use daily as it has a large volume knob. The QC sits on a board 100% of the time so it would be a pain to hook up a ton of things to it every time I sit down to play

  • @matteoguitar

  • @ironman0000

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  Рік тому +2

      Exactly. For the best signal to noise ratio, Neural recommends the volume knob being at max. Obviously more difficult to achieve if you’re a headphone user, but for live performance to front of house, always at Max

    Thanks for the video man. I just got my QC. I see you have your volume turned all the way up. I have two QSC speakers and run it through a mixer and it's WAY too hot to turn my Quad Cortex any where close to 100. I have my QC running XLR to mixer to speakers and my mixer channels are set at unity. Seems like a noob question but I had the same problem on my Kemper. Any suggestions for being able to increase the Quad Cortex to 100?

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  Рік тому

      Can you turn down the gain on the inputs you’re running the QC into? If you gain down those inputs on your mixer, you should be able to run the QC at full volume. I wouldn’t necessarily worry about having your mixer channels at unity gain, rather I’d want the best signal-to-noise ratio on the QC (by running it at full volume) and adjust the mixer as necessary

    Hey Dustin I got a question about the quad Cortex I'm using a finger hot rod devil. The 4 cable method. In the tones And the tone sounds muffled what am I doing?

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  Рік тому +1

      Without seeing how you have your preset set up, the first thing is to make sure you don't have an amp OR cab block in your chain. In the 4CM, the QC acts as an effects processor only, therefore if you have amp/cab blocks in your grid, you're effectively running an amp into an amp and cab into a cab.
      This is from the QC manual, see if it matches what you have set up:
      The four cable method allows you to use effects in different stages of the signal chain (pre and post) in conjunction with an amplifier and cabinet. The Quad Cortex will be used as an effects processor, therefore the Presets created for this purpose don’t need amp or cab device blocks. This method allows you to place pre effects tools such as overdrives, noise gates, and pitch shifters before the amplifier. Post effects such as reverbs and delays will sound after the amp.
      1. Add an FX Loop device block. Choose FX Loop 1.
      2. Add device blocks before and after the FX Loop block.
      3. Set the output block as Out 3.
      You will need four TS cables for making the connections:
      1. Connect your instrument to INPUT 1.
      2. Connect OUT 3/L to the amplifier’s FX return.
      3. Connect SEND 1 to the amplifier’s input.
      4. Connect RETURN 1 to the amplifier’s FX send.

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  10 місяців тому

      You’re going to introduce some latency if you record from the QC into an interface into a computer, more so than if you just went directly from the QC to the computer. You’re also omitting an extra A/D -> D/A conversion by going directly from QC to PC.

    I find generally that the factory presets suck. You have to tweak them to get them sounded good, which in most cases means adding some bass.

    • @broersenkees
      @broersenkees 10 місяців тому +1

      Consider that if you're playing with a band, that that bass might interfere with the sound of the actual bass.
      I've had multiple soundguys tell me to remove some bass so it all sounds a bit tighter.

    • @bobeialexandru6011
      @bobeialexandru6011 5 місяців тому

      I followed this video and increased the input gain when I nou that the QC. 2 months struggling with muddy tone, a lot of noise, very boomy bass. I sett it back to 0db and it sounds excellent. I was amazed that even the factory presets sounded better, increasing the input gain made palm mutes sound like machine guns… so, if it were up to me, I would not increase the input gain and leave the metter to below the indicator. I use medium and high output pickups. My feeling was also that factory presets suck. And don’t sound like in the demos done by artists (obviously paid and probably have post production). But now I think it’s a lot better.
