“I’m not ugly. I just need context.” Here’s your new justification, fellas.
😂
"Djent guitarist once again finds himself circling back to Drop G#"
E for thrash
D for grunge
C for metalcore
B for prog
A for death
G# for djent
....give or take
@@jnboveeE for thall (before pitch shifting)
@@jnboveeG for Numetalcore/Hardcore stuff
NDSP should have paid you to do the main marketing for this launch. an organic approach to what this can be used for
This is what I love about you Nick, it's not only thick riffs,
it's tasty and "feely" and you can't but smile when youre hear the sh*t you make. Bravo!
Thick Riff Nick is all you need a Thursday 👏
I appreciate the kind words, man! 🥹🤘
Tune ended up sounding like a riff from 2010s era djent
Reminded me a lot of Periphery 2
@@danthemanmillan 100%
When he busted out the clean octave tone I instantly heard Jetpacks was Yes
The golden days
Man that sounds like a professional mix in the final song. Absolutely insane results
You did NOT watch the entire video 🙅🙅🙅🙅🗣️🗣️🗣️🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 go back and watch that shit NOW 🔥🔥🔥
Your writing is bonkers man. I love these videos, super inspiring. Thank you dude!!
Aren’t they just? They never fail to get me in the mood for writing riffs and I’ve picked up some clever production ideas too.
Man, I just know we grew up on the same music because a lot of your riffs on thursdays remind me of 2011 melodic metal like old Volumes/Elitist. Lots of pretty cleans with a fast catchy riff with the kicks matching to the chugs, with a hint of modern Plini-like solos. Love your stuff dude.
That solo was SO GOOOOOD. NICK SHREDTHALL
at about 13:40 you hit a pinch harmonic on one of those first solo notes that i so desperately needed you to put in the final! fuckin killer as always though man
That comment is so true
I second this comment. So true
this idea absolutely must be made into a full song!!
This reminds me of the first time I heard Volumes Via. thanks for the nostalgia Nick. you the man
One of my fav albums of all time 🙌
@@nickbroomhallmusic right? Also, I love that I heard you mention The Contortionist - Exoplanet once in an episode. They're from where I grew up, grew up in high school watching them play those tracks live for the first time. shit was wild to observe. So heavy, so sci Fi. Have a great day man! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Love watching you cook man 🤘🏼🤘🏼
AND IT GETS DI !!!
Mannnn that solo was unreal Nick! Loved this one! 🤘😎🤘
Kinda reminds me of Edge Of The Earth by Volumes. Sweet nostalgia ❤
Thank you, Nick, for every TRT!
sounded exactly like it I had to double take because this was on another screen and I thought I was listening to that song lol
Love the content Nick! Always looking forward to Thick Riff Thursday! We need a funky friday! Lol
Dude, youre an amazing song writer, its insane
Thanks so much dude 🙏
That riff brought me back to my college days. So awesome and thank you for the demo of the Nano Cortex. Amazing work as always
This may be my favorite riff I’ve heard from you yet. Sounds amazing!
I too enjoy chilling on the flat 6th of literally every key
The talent is real
It’s such a dream wake vibe. Absolutely love it
Really love your videos bro it inspires me to write and record more makes my Thursdays better
If anyone ever asks me what music I would listen to all the time if I had to choose, I would show them this video specifically
Nolly X tones are so rich and full, so great.
Whoa, "Clean My Dreams" sounds great.
Nick. This. Sounds. Awesome.
dude you are incredibly talented, your stuff blows me away. PS I really want a video of you capturing your Orange Dark Terror!
THAT riff would make Aaron Marshall sweat...that was sick. Nice job!
David Maxim Micic vibes ❤
that solo went kinda crazy! props bro
awesome!
sounds great. sick work on the solo
nailed it!
Your writing is actually insane, solo reminded me of novelists 🤘
This just answered what I wished, I just wished the Ndsp would come in a smaller size, and now here it is, defo getting this
I dislike most metal now days and hardly even listen to music / play guitar anymore, but to me the style of the riffs in this video brought me back so much to the mid 2010s when I was passionate about music and guitar. They just don’t make them like they used to lol. Thanks for this video. Also looking at the nano cortex!
Every single week!
Sick bro!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
oh yeah this going on the album
13:40 my jaw dropped…you are cracked my man 😂
Finally they didn’t send a QC but FINALLY!!!! You legend!
Jeez that was fricking beautiful🔥
This definitely gives me some Periphery vibes as well
Also is it just me or did brother get a new camera, shit looks incredible
Seriously contemplating picking one of these up. I’ve been on the Helix but the app control is selling me. Sick jam as always brother 🤙🏽
here’s my take: it seems this unit, and the Tonex one and Tonex pedal have an instrument level output, which means, on all three pedals, you need to first run it into a DI box since not every mixer has a “hi-z” input. so no, it doesn’t seem that any of the three devices can go straight into a power amp. You need a preamp before the power amp so don’t think you’re going through a power amp into a cabinet. We need to get that straight. But, for the small factor petals, the idea is to go direct while carrying very little gear, but still having your absolute choice in amp channel Sound. of all three pedals, this one has the least ability to switch presets which means you absolutely still need boost pedals in front of it. This one clearly can only toggle between two on a live gig. The larger tonex pedal gives much more flexibility, and you can functionally have many more captures under your feet at a gig. the small Tonex one has a three channel mode so you can have three completely different captures under your feet at a gig. However, this is the only one between the three that actually has delay on board. I’m still going to use my tonex one instead though because it’s not that much more of a hassle, for the price of $175, just a stick my choice of delay after it and then go into a DI box. Smaller, I can switch three channels instead of just two, it’s no hassle to throw a delay pedal after it, you need to run all three units through a DI box anyway, none of the three units can go direct into a power amp anyway, Tonex One uses a simple/stndrd 9v power…all else being equal, the Tonex one is Still the winner in terms of price point, form-factor and functionality. and, the captures are actually more accurate anyway.
love your vids dude. you inspired me to write some djent/thall albums
I was really hoping today’s video would be of the nano cortex lol. Hell yeah dude.
I’m getting some serious “Via” from Volumes vibes here
sounds sick
That intro dude…🤭
Damn I'm so early.
This tone is so good.
sick dude!!
Biiiiig Intervals A Voice Within vibes on this
This has some 2010 bulb vibes
Damn, missed an opportunity to create a bass tone on an organic, ethically sourced bass.
You're annoyingly good at these. ❤
So freaking Dreamwake 😩🙌🏽
Now do the exact same thing with a Joyo Cab Box.
3:02 im expecting a 2 hour apology video
DAMN
Oli Herbert would be proud
anyone hear the instrumental pull down .867 db when that fast guitar lick came in 😆
Whens the next thick riff album coming out
Hey Nick, I was at work today and we have a Nux MG-300 for sale, I gave it a listen and messed around with a few settings and I think you should give it a try for a video. Sick riff BTW
I hear 2010's djent vibes, I like. What's to say? I'm a simple man
Nick making even this L of a product sound good
I want to see the capture capabilities.
Everyone's vibratos are too fast because they're trying to do it just like Kirk Hammet.
Pristine riff as always, my guy. 2 questions: when you quantize drums, do you add swing? or any groove variations? Also, when is volume 2 dropping on spotify?!
Is there any advantage to this thing at all over just using amp sims in your daw? Seems a little inflexible
TBH the intended costumers for this unit are for touring/live playing musicians. Using a DAW in a live performance can be dangerous because any software crash could totally mess up your performance
Those units (Nano & Quad Cortex) consists of embedded systems developed with reliability in mind.
TL;DR: Recording at home? You are fine with your DAW and amp sims. Playing live? You better go with a dedicated device that is made to be reliable.
I think some people might be looking at this unit the wrong way. The way I use it is like a USB C powered interface that can run a limitless amount of guitar tones using captures from the Cortex Cloud as well as being a capture device itself. Not to mention you can even put it on your pedal board and gig with it. It's perfect for guitarists wanting to record at home or on the go.
It's a freakin guitar guitar tone Pokedex that can fit in your pocket.
Just a guess here, but I'm imaging that Nolly dialed that up for a guitar tuned to like.. C probably.
Edit: I also think guitarists feel like fast vibrato is giving them more sustain or something. It so rarely sounds good IMO.
Awesome riffs as always, love that intro melody!! How do you get the djinnbass articulations as a selection in the MIDI roll? Looks way faster than adding them individually but the articulation selector doesn't show up in my midi roll
Thanks dude! So you have to make a new articulation set. You can do that in the inspector off to the left under the "track" dropdown!
@@nickbroomhallmusic Awesome, thanks so much!!
nick i need that wavy sub serum patch cuz im gonna make an instrumental cover
This riff is soooo fire the whole time I couldn’t get out of my head having a saxophone come in if someone out there plays the sax please add a part
sounds like david maxim
Make of a truely good guitarist is good vibrato
*commenting before watching* ive seen so much hate for this thing already im interesting to see what you (an actual composer) think of it
Поздравляю ты изобрел vitalism pagan 54 xd
I'd love to get this but I'm so ass at making songs it would be like giving a beginner guitarist a 9 string
Do you have your side chain settings/plug ins somewhere for the Pv kit? Mine doesn’t sound neaaaaar that sick
Amazing ! What plugin do you use for drums ?
I’ve been looking for an answer to this question: does the XLR only work for captures, or can it record an XLR microphone?
Sick riff thursday! Do you have any specific reason for using logic? thinking about picking it up SOON.
Will not be replacing my fm3.
No modeling????
Kinda weird.
This unit is not meant to be competition for the FM3. That would be the Quad Cortex.
What I can't figure out, is how you remember what you just did. I will write a riff, and then immediately forget it. And then even if I do record it, as soon as I go to double track it, I have no clue what I just wrote. Not only that, you know it so well that you can even live program the drums into it? I don't understand is that just from making tons of songs every day for hours on end? Can you give me any advice on this?
How the hell do you enter "tuner mode" when standing? Hover mode?
The downfall of youtube reviews is that the companies now own the reviewers. No one wanted another capture device, but it's about selling a product, not being honest about them. You guys are now the Rotten tomatoes paid reviewers VS the public.
I am sorry, I'm not trying to be rude... I'm just being an honest reviewer of something I kind of watched.
do you upload these as tracks anywhere to listen to??
What keyboard is that please?
We’re losing Nick to the mainstream media😂
Nah, this ain't it.
I'm sorry, but accepting a sponsorship from a company that's failed to support and implement advertised features for nearly 5 years is weird.
Who disliked this video!? I want 5 names on by desk by Monday morning. Better yet, I'm gonna turn off the lights, and when I turn them back on I expect the dislikes to have turned into likes; no questions asked, nobody gets in trouble.
