      Right?? My priorities would be, in this order: funeral costs, settling the estate, pay off debts, build an emergency fund, invest, and THEN if I have anything left I might do something fun with it. If I immediately went out and bought a luxury car with my late mother’s insurance money, I’m sure she’d be disappointed to know I squandered a prime opportunity to exponentially improve my quality of life.

    She’d be totally screwed if Monat suddenly changed their comp plan or just stopped being an MLM. If she could barely cover the $500 dollars for her Toyota there is no way she’ll be able to cover the $750. I don’t get the need to drive a luxury car. Sure I would love a sports car like a Jaguar but I am perfectly happy with my Suzuki Swift. Driving an expensive car doesn’t suddenly make you a better person.

    • @thevinsk
      @thevinsk Місяць тому

      Exactly. She’s already living above her means with a Toyota and now she thinks she can have a Land Rover. Classic wide eyed and dumb. She wants to roll up to some MLM get together in her Land Rover and feel like she’s a big shot. Such a shame.

    I agree: the long backstory - totally unnecessary and boring. Spending $50-75K on a Mercedes in your twenties instead of putting it into a long term investment - poor financial decision. Finally, these car programs just diminish your monthly cash flow and are a covert way your MLM keeps you from leaving, because if you ever do, or if loose your qualifying rank, YOU are left paying off the FULL amount of the balance.

    I am also fairly certain that the car bonus is also consider taxable income since Monet cuts the check to their distributors instead of the loan company. This could push a rep into a higher tax bracket which could have them paying more federal income taxes every year. Plus you still have to factor in maintenance, car insurance and gap coverage on a luxary car. Sounds like another hole in a reps pocket to me.

    Girl you are way too nice! That woman’s comment about her dead mom was DISGUSTING! I can’t even fathom losing my mom or grandmother, and she said it like it was nothing! Also I can pretty much guarantee no parent would want their kid to use up the life insurance money on a luxury car they don’t need.. smh. Most parents pay into life insurance so that their kids (even adults) will have something to help support them in life since they will no longer be able to help them :( I watch so much anti-mlm nothing surprises me anymore, but I agree that comment and the way she said it really bothered me. It makes me wonder what the relationship with her mom was. I for example had a narcissistic and (emotionally) abusive mother, so I would understand not being as affected by her death as other people with a nice mom would be. Nonetheless I do find it rude to talk so nonchalantly about it in public on the internet - even if she had a mom like mine, that stuff is private 😅

      I would 100% agree with you, however, we don't know what kind of relationship she had with her mom. So, I would agree that its odd and potentially insensitive to put it out there like that, but for all we know, her mom was abusive/neglectful and it wasn't much of a loss to her. Just saying we don't know her whole story.

    Binging a bunch of your content.
    The thing that gets me with the woman who spent her mom's life insurance payout on a Mercedes was just how casual she said it.
    I 100% understand needing a new vehicle and inheriting a bunch of money making it possible for you to purchase one. However, buying a luxury car is never worth it. There are so many other car brands out there with reliable, common sense vehicles. Vehicles that don't cost upwards of 1000 every 3 months to service, cars that will last you years, cars that will grow with you if you're planning on starting a family.
    Buying a luxury car with once in a lifetime windfall, is not smart. I understand wanting one, but if you cannot afford it in your normal life, it's not a smart purchase. You will have to put more money into it eventually. Parts are much more expensive, and gas tends to have to be premium (and therefore more expensive).
    As someone who has worked in various dealerships in the last 10 years (including luxury), just buy a "regular" vehicle. You don't need the most expensive vehicle for a daily driver. It just doesn't make sense.

Then she could put the money saved every month into a retirement fund and buy whatever luxury car she wants with cash in 20 years. So dumb

  • @AllLifeIsTravesty
    @AllLifeIsTravesty 2 роки тому +23

    Look, I know everyone grieves differently, but to talk so casually about how you cashed in your *mother's life insurance check* for a luxury car...I dunno, I'd feel like Judas with his 13 pieces.

    • @dqverify6797
      @dqverify6797 2 роки тому +4

      Yeah, it’s pretty gross. It’s fine to buy a car; it’s fine to buy a luxury car; it’s fine to buy a luxury car with your inheritance. But you expect the tone to be, “I didn’t know what to do with the money, but then I remembered how Mom always wanted me to have a Mercedes,” or, “Mom always loved Mercedes, and whenever I get behind the wheel I smile, remembering her,” or something similar.
      Instead, the tone is like, “My mom died, and I finally got a Mercedes! Win-win!” Or “yeah, mom’s gone, but look at the bitchin’ car I got with the insurance money!” or even, “Thank goodness Mom died, I really wanted a Mercedes!”
      It’s just such a cavalier attitude, and for some reason the assumption that everyone who gets life insurance from a parent automatically runs out to buy a Mercedes with the money makes it even worse-she seems genuinely unaware that most people aren’t thrilled to collect on life insurance policies, or that her, “of course I got a Mercedes when she died, just like everyone else does!” attitude makes her look like a narcissistic sociopath. It’s just really creepy and icky.

    I inherited a decent chunk of money when my grandparents died (within a year of each other). And I feel really guilty sometimes. A lot of my stress was relieved because of the money and I feel bad because not everyone has well-off grandparents. I obviously talk to my friends about it but it seems really tacky to talk about how you spent your dead mom's money on a live. I agree.

But I want insurance agencies to give me access to quality alternatives like lidocaine injection, not some fruit of the month that’s apparently the cure to everything and it’s deeply frustrating that these people are willing to talk about things they have no clue about and risk people’s lives to sell their products

    Oh the stress! I would never ever put myself in a position were I don’t now month by month if I will be able to pay for my car! I would be in constant stress mode. That is another thing that makes them be on top of business 24/7, you can’t take a second off cause something might crumble. I’m actually getting goosebumps just thinking about being in that position, I mean there are not pennies we are talking about, it’s hundreds of dollars each month if you don’t hit your rank. And to be dependent on others must be the scariest of things. The only thing that would make one chill would be if you have job outside that will cover the cost of the car anyway. Fancy cars is fun, but not if your health is on the line to be able to pay for it. And your cat is such a cutie 😻

    so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I just leased a car for the first time and if I break my lease before the 3 year term, I have to pay a fee. So if this woman turned in her leased car for the new one , does Monat pay that fee for her...? If not, she fronted the $1500, plus is shit outta luck for the thousands from breaking her previous lease just so she could be stuck with potentially a $700+ monthly payment if her team doesn't rank. She probably could have bought her Toyota outright after her lease with all the money she's dumping into these Monat vehicles. I just dont... I mean, I know numbers are hard, but come on.

    When I lost my Mama in 2003, I could not even think about her, much less verbalize anything about my loss for almost a decade. I could think of happy memories awhile before then, but not anything about our loss. That loss is profound, I don’t care who you are. You only have one mother. My mom was only 56; and that’s so young. She was the same age I am this year.

You do not need the kind of risk that comes with that vehicle but that also is there way of tethering their most successful people to the company. That's always hanging over their head. Sick.

    What I did, when I leased a car, was divide the miles down to what I was allowed to use every day. If I exceeded the miles allowed in a day, I put 25 cents in a jar per mile (that was what I would be charged per mile extra at the end of my lease). I was prepared to pay for those extra miles I would use that way.
    I can't figure out why the monat rep needed a luxury car though.

      It hit close to me too because I dated a guy at one point who’s dad had died and him and his mom had received over a million dollars in medical malpractice suits…. And they could’ve easily have saved up most of it and then used little increments here and there to go on trips and do fun things but instead…. They rented new cars every week and spent money on everything imaginable and spent it all within a year and a half…. A million is not a lot in the scheme of today’s inflation… but it can be a lot if you save and spend it conservatively. It pissed me off every single day how much they spent on stupid stuff… and the mom would lie and make up stories about how they were gonna get more money and they could keep spending but then they didn’t… and the mom lied and manipulated the son to use all his money… and it was a mess I got caught up in that I wish I never had… but I’m far out of it now and glad of it… but it was a hard cycle to get out of and hearing her say that in this video just brought back those memories.
