Today I want to share my thoughts on the Curly Girl Method Approved Leave-In Conditioners that are made in India.
CG products are expensive in our country and I always get requests for recommendations on which one to use? In this video I have tried to share my thoughts on how you can go about choosing a leave in conditioner based on your hair's needs.

Love this video! The level system you've created for leave-in conditioners is such a great idea.
I'm surprised that the Earth Rhythm hair butters are a level 5. I have 2b/2c low-medium porosity hair(from what I can tell). I've been using ER Nourishing hair butter(not the ones you mentioned) as a leave-in and its working pretty well for me. I use a couple of pea sized amounts for my shoulder length hair. However, I don't use a gel and I'm not looking for hold atm. So, maybe that's why I don't mind the product.

Product amounts matter.
I always use exactly the same amount when determining the weight of a product. Therein lies my verdict on the level.

Hi Michelle! I tried the CG routine on my 2a wavy hair for the first time and noticed some improvement just after the first try. Lesser frizz and more definition. Just had one question: I'm using clarifying shampoo(every few weeks), shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner as a part of my routine. For pre-poo I used argan oil. I wanted to keep it minimal so just started off with the basics. Are there any other products which you would say are essential to the routine? Like serums etc? I have low porosity 2a hair.

Michelle.. I would say, you are the only reason for my defined curls which I wasn't even aware of it. So thanks a tonne. One tip. Since I have low porosity as you suggested, I tried Anveya hair mist. The product is good but yeah, the people who has the issue migraine then better to away from it. Even I haven't had any migraine but it got triggered becauseof its fragrance.., oh God, it's too much. Waiting the bottle to be emptied.
Oh my goodness. Thanks so much for sharing this. I don't understand why brands do this. There's a difference between a mild aesthetically pleasing fragrance and an overpowering obnoxious one. I wish they'd keep this in mind while formulating products. :(

Okay since hair is great in India, that's just how it is, I am very curious about the standards for the products there. I know that superior indian genetics play a huge role in why its awesome 😎 but when I was in the middle east, the products from India were just on a whole other level.
I don't know if Indian girls acknowledge or even consider their hair to be 'great'. We've all shared a passion for the flat iron and bleach! I blame the 2000s!
About curly hair products/brands in India, a lot of education is required. I don't think our products compare.

I used Anveya curl hair product for curly hair and it didn’t give me proper curl I am kinda disappointed with the product.

First figure out if it's hair fall or hair loss. I have videos on both topics. Once you're able to tackle this issue then focus on frizz. Frizz a long game anyway.

Still I struggle to find porosity ...I will say a example like when I go and wash my hair in shower the dry hair takes much time to get wet. So what type of porosity do I have
I think you're referring to the point about the hair repelling water ie the bubble test. Please watch my video on hair porosity. I've explaining with many practical examples.

Currently I am using a combination of flax seed get and FMC gels. They are not that strong hold but I am scared to use the ones like enliven because of the alcohol. My hair and scalp are more on the dryer side.

I have low porosity 2a2b i used a deep conditioning and gel (fmc flex seed) on my wash day..the next day...in sun and humidity my hair became super frizzy..

The best way to beat humidity is to layer gels together. Or do a mousse and then end with gel

Suddenly saw your video and find out actually I have wavy hair... I always combed it daily and thought why it's texture is like this... I was doing it in a wrong way I stopped combing daily detangled in the shower and noticed my curls.. Which I saw some times when I used to just finger rolls.. Damn if only my hairs could speak.... They would have told me stop combing 😅😅😅😅

Northwich leave in conditioner felt very heavy and greasy on my hair. Didn't think it was light at all. Weighed my hair down. I think I have 2a to 2b hair. High porosity.

Can you suggest a strong CG friendly shampoo as I love my heavy oil champi, but i cant get rid of my oil with those mild shampoos. I really love to have champi once a week and can't imagine to skip it, so is there any strong cg friendly shampoo which can solve this problem. Also make a similar video as this for different types of shampoos available in India
I can't think of a shampoo that would remove oil to my satisfaction. If you're ok with a clarifying shampoo then go for it. In my opinion, it defeats the purpose.

I have high porosity 2a/2b waves. My issue is I do need some good amount of moisture but heavy products tend to weigh my hair down. So I'm basically stuck between moisture and hold. Do you recommend any light weight leave-in but also moisturizing?
The ones towards the beginning and lighter and the ones listed towards the end are heavier. If you are already using a leave in, tally the score I've given the product and then choose something lighter based on your discretion

Ma'am when ever I use leave in conditioner...my scalp get dry and huge dandruffs starts to increase.Please help. I've used Ashba, curl up, Arata products. All same result. Dry scalp..n dandruff
For now i think you can skip styling altogether. Use a cg range that helps treat dandruff.

You can also speak to a dermatologist and get medicated products for the scalp.
Once your dandruff is under control, you can start styling. For now avoid the use of creams and leave ins.
Hey Michelle! Love the videos. Could you do a video on the Ktein Natural Protein Curls spray, it's use and benefits? I don't think I'm able to use it correctly but i do find it as good as a lot of popular Leave Ins. I'd appreciate if you could do a review and application video on the Ktein Curl spray.

Your advice of using leave-in + gel is working great for me 😍😍🤗🤗. So finally i got the leave-in for my hair that is working great i.e. northwishnaturals leave in but still in search of gel. Ordered giovanni L.A. strong hold gel. Lets see how it works. Hope for best.

Affordable conditioners in india?
so i had excessive moisture in my hair last year and it went all funky and limp bec of that😔 started cg this month (thanks for inspiring me! I have low porosity 2a/2b curl type and i didnt know what to do with it. sick and tired of curly hair youtubers from western countries who recommend products that arent available here😭you're like a breath of fresh air)
anyways i ended up buying the earth rhythm leave in because i thought my hair needed protein. i used a very little amount but the issue ended up being that my hair went into protein shock (i was also using the requil murumuru butter conditioner) 😭
thankfully the flaxseed gel i am using from fixmycurls has no protein :) i've temporarily gone back to using sulphates and silicones w acv rinses until my hair gets restored, cg might have to be on halt for a while :(
i'll get the northwish naturals leave in soon.

The murumuru conditioner probably won't be the best fit. Definitely worth changing.
I think you might want to check out this video I made suggesting products for low porosity hair. I did include some spray options as well. If you have 2a/2b low porosity hair stick to a level 1 or 2. It might potentially be a better fit.
