    Mr Shawn you are grilling the importance of centering. The importance of centering helps to visualize picture of target so clear. Consequently, no chicken wings. Thank you Mr Shawn.

      @@golflessons brilliant. Was there a video lesson filmed when you showcased the rotator cuff counter? I’m RH golfer with RH dominant but my left rotator cuff causes me issues. Would be great to see how I can minimise harm but still get that release without fear.

      @@grantleslie4298 see Ryan Fox’s Swing who almost won on the DP World tour this past week; super strong grip that does not require a rotational release; you can either do that or close the face 45 degrees and keep a neutral grip; see “most overlooked detail with driver shawn clement” and “how to square up the club shawn clement”

    I was definitely " guilty " of that bent lead arm thru impact. This drove me crazy until I realized the root cause of this was the central nervous system in control. If the head or shall we say the sternal notch drops excessively in the downswing the bent lead arm is actually a compensation initiated by the central nervous system to stop chunks or fats. This drop is absolutely necessary and natural but as with anything it can be overcooked. In my case I measured this drop in the sternal notch and it was in most cases 7". If I attempted to interrupted the central nervous system by trying to keep that lead arm straight the outcome was always fats and chunks. Many great players make this compensation but not to the extreme of which I had. It is amazing what the brain will do in such a short amount of time to hit a golfball . In most cases the root cause of a problem is due to a poor posture or a multitude of other inefficiencies in the swing. When these inefficiencies are cleaned up the central nervous system will correct. I guess this would be the opposite of an early extension and flip thru impact. The central nervous system will always take control of a situation however the situation can be controlled.
    Thank yinz

    Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this video. I've been trying to do the Zack Johnson follow through for a long time, and I just can't do it. It has bothered me as I felt I had an inefficient swing although I can hit a nice drive and have a good iron game. Now I can rest easy to work on the other things to improve my power.

    Thanks once again Shawn! There are so many differing opinions on the release and like you say it's such a difficult thing to think about during the swing. My bad miss is the pull hook left lately and I'm thinking a change to a more high hands or hellicopter finish like yourself and Arnold Palmer may help with this. What are your thoughts?

  • @scribnick

    Shawn, should you hold the wrist hinge in the backswing through most of the downswing until your hands pass the ball on the ground? Thank you as always for your great content!

  • @todd7706
    @todd7706 2 роки тому +2

    The closer you address the ball the more of a tendency to bend the elbow on the downswing cus the arms have a harder time extending. You either have to stand taller or bend the elbow or both. Sav and Bryson don’t bend the elbow because they swing more in a single plane so there is plenty of room for the arms to fully extend through impact.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, distance to ball is a big one! For those who need some help on this, please see “how to put the ball in the way of the swing shawn clement” and “dynamic distance to ball shawn clement”

    So, one of my problem areas is hitting to the left or right of my intermediate point, especially if I'm trying to hit to the left of it, I still end up hitting to the right. I've gone from a neutral grip to I guess a super strong grip. I'm a leftie like Sav and my knuckles face up on my right hand and have a full extension in my follow through, so that's been really good, so what will help me hit too the left of my intermediate point more constantly and accurately? Is it just a matter of adjusting my stance more to the left?

    Hey Shawn I have been playing around with lead hand task( whip or ping pong serve). Getting very good results with irons but seem to struggle with woods. Not sure if it is a strength issue although I am not weak person, decently athletic. Also I am a natural right handed person.
    Ball seems to go lower weak hook or right push and pretty weak. Any thoughts.
    Thanks

      Hi Jay! Sorry I missed this one! In our premium channel, you want to check out our “lead hand release backswing” video (an off shoot of the original “lead hand release” video that is so instrumental in getting our students to gather that full range of motion in the backswing to create big momentum in the downswing to deliver effortless slinging power into your flight plans. Weak shots come from lack of momentum and lack of momentum is from lack of range of motion in the backswing.

    Hi Shawn! Love the video! I would assume Jordan Spieth is an outlier. He has a neutral to weakish left hand grip and seems to release the club really late. How is he able to have that grip and be able to “hold off” that release like he does and still hit it accurate and far?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому +1

      He has since made his grip stronger as his old grip was getting too weak and he had to over bow the lead wrist at the top resulting in too many blocks to the right; now he still plays a fade but swings in a way to start left and let drift back to centre with a grip stronger than neutral! 👍

  • @roniwankovitsch

    Release in the direction you want to start the ball? OR. Release towards the target? Are they the same ?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому +2

      No, they are not! 😀👍
      Great question! A draw you would start in the direction right of target and drift back left (for the right handed golfer) and vice versa. See “how to match backswing to target shawn clement”

    • @nickjohnson83
      @nickjohnson83 2 роки тому

      I can't remember which video it is but in one of them Shawn says "release to safety". I wasn't sure what that meant until I kept hitting straight balls into trouble as I TRIED to hit fades or draws. So now, I release to "safety" aka where I want the ball to start roughly, and allow the ball to move towards the target by matching the clubface to the intended shot shape.

    • @roniwankovitsch
      @roniwankovitsch 2 роки тому

      @@golflessons So for a draw : You start in the direction right of the target (tee in front of the ball on your indoor range) and the release is also right of the target?
