This has got to be the best tutorial I have ever watched. No annoying background music, no unnecessary talking as it's all relative for the instruction. Kept having to replay bits (🤣) as I'm not working on a full tank, so to speak (I've got Covid) and wanted a change from reading. This is something I can pick up and put down. ❤🎉Finally, someone's explained this shell ' in the round' in a comprehensive and simple way ! Thank you so much , I am a self-taught "hooker" lol, so I've had to rely on the internet completely for patterns and stitches since I've been diagnosed with a brain tumor and am for the most part bed ridden , crocheting has been a source of relief and self confidence to me ! I have been able to invent quite a few , but this one has eluded me for what seems like an eternity. So again, thank you ,and God bless ! Keep up the incredible videos. Perhaps I can learn some more new stitches 🎉
Before seeing your tutorial, I would have said this stitch was too advanced for me, not any more!!! Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow! You know just the right amount to demonstrate for us and then turn us loose for a bit. I love your video. I already subbed!
Thank you for Getting right into the tutorial; unlike some of the tutorials who Chatter and go into concepts, which is really unnecessary. So thank you -- absolutlely one of the best. You Go Girl.
When I first saw the pattern I thought it was too difficult for me. But thank you for teaching the world to crochet. I really enjoy your voice, what really is important to me. Success and thank you once more . Milly (the Netherlands)
+Milly Meyer I am so happy you are making this blanket! It is so much fun and can be done so many beautiful ways. Thank you so much for the complements and for watching! ❤️
I felt the same way I’ve been looking for a video that would easily explain it and I am going to try my first one actually today so here we go and it was very step-by-step explained excellent for us ABC people like me
Thank you for taking the time to explain how to complete each stitch on each row. This was very helpful because I am still a novice and not as quick with making my stitches. I love the look of the pattern.
Thank you so much I love your videos, and I have made your virus shawl and blanket and the other shell blanket and now tonight I am well on my way to making this one. I am 83 years old and only started 18 months ago. Thank you so much.
+Evelyn Craig This is wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for choosing my channel and I’m so happy you like my videos and are enjoying crocheting so much. 💕
Thank you so much for teaching this stitch. for yrs all I did was plain double stitch blankets just back and forth back and forth and when I saw this video I was so happy. your a great teacher thank you so much. I made a beautiful blanket for my best friend Chantal and now making one for my Doctor because she is an awesome doctor. thank you again . Cheryel
Hi Joanna l commented before but wanted to say l have returned to this many times it's so beautiful and have made in lots of colours as gifts and for charity too thanks again from a very happy 68year old xx
Hello from Canada. I've made one of these before a few yrs ago which turned out amazing & started another one today using Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in colorway Anemoine which are shades of dark through light burgundys. OMG I'm so excited to see the transformation of the colors as it's going to be OUTSTANDING. Thank you hon so much for your great tutorials as I'm a huge follower of yours...………..
I love this! It's versatile enough that I don't get bored doing the same stitches, but simple enough that I don't have to focus too hard. I was able to watch shows while crocheting this after a few rounds. This would be perfect for an afghan or baby blanket!
I love your video! I tried to follow the written instructions and got totally lost so I did what I always do--I came to UA-cam! By following your video, I was able to quickly master this pattern and I am now about half way through an adorable baby blanket. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I love the pattern. I made a blanket for my sister for Christmas using Red Heart Super Saver "Artist Print." I would just like to say how much I appreciate your talent and excellent video. Not everyone can accomplish these 2 demanding tasks so skillfully! Just one note for those, like me, who may not be 'experts' at crocheting. Please! Be very careful to pay attention to your corners, even before they come up on you. Be sure to also mark them with a stitch holder. I had a few gaffes as the project grew in size, had to rip out a row and fix my mistake. That's a lot of work as you move along. That's not a negative comment at all! Just trying to help others avoid my problem! Thank you SO much. Best wishes in all of your endeavors.
At first I thought this would be too complicated for me, but your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I'm on my eighth row and completely in love with this pattern !! Thank you for such a great video :)
I Love your tutorials. Your commentary is very clear and concise without much extra chatting in the background. Thank you for sharing your fiber art knowledge and gifts with all of us.
I absolutely love the way you show how to do this pattern. Your instructions are so clear. I wish there were some way to print the instructions. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Very nice pattern and tutorial! This may sound funny but I often practice new stitches with cotton and make dishcloths. This made a beautiful dishcloth!
Thank you so much for your video and easy to follow. I had done a dress for my grandbaby but couldn't figure out how to add more shells to it. your video helped me alot even tho it was meant for a granny square. Thank you.
So excited! I figured out a way to adapt this pattern to make both a round poncho and a two-point poncho! Right now I am making the round poncho with Caron Latte Cakes in the colour way Rose Scented. I can't wait to see the finished product and then start the two-point poncho. There is not enough time to make all the ideas that come into my head. I am truly crochet-obsessed!
Hi Jonna, Just wanted to tell you I have made about 8 or so baby blankets watching your videos. You my dear are so easy to follow. I truly love watching your videos and learning from you. You are an awesome teacher. Keep up the great videos. Thank you so much
You have VERY clear instructions, and video. Like, like, like your videos! I've been crocheting since I was 9 years old (49 years of experience here), and have done LOTS of different types of crochet, I appreciate how thorough you are with your instructions. Cudos to you!!!!
So easy to follow along! Thank you so much and wish you would do more of these videos. You are so easy to understand and follow. I feel like I can make anything if YOU have a tutorial for it. Keep them coming and thanks again! 🧡
I've had a chance to follow along with another crocheter that does this stitch, and then I've looked at yours twice. I have to say, YOU my dear young lady are an excellent teacher of this intermediate/advanced stitch. I want to thank you for showing me this beautiful stitch to which I'm currently working on making my oldest niece a beautiful varigated blanket using the Caron Cakes Pumpkin Spice colored yarn. Thanks again.
I am so happy you have found my video helpful! Your kind words make my day and really keep me motivated to film more. 💕Thank you. 💕 The yarn you picked for your blanket sounds beautiful! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊
This is so beautiful! I started it in pink even though I knew I wouldn't have enough for a blanket, but it sure turned out a pretty little coaster with just four rows... :) I can't wait to buy enough yarn to make this beautiful blanket. Thanks so much for sharing your God given talents. I love following your videos; they're so clear and concise and make it so easy to follow along; even for crocheters like myself who have been crocheting for over 40 years. God bless you.
+happyinlifemk62 they do make beautiful coasters! Or double them up to make hot pads 😊 I'm so happy you like watching my videos. Thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
I am new to crocheting and watching ur patterns made me better. U r a wonderful teacher, you explain every single step and I hope u keep on posting these videos in future.
Hi, Jonna , Nice pattern you not only explain each new step, you show where it goes good teacher. I am new to your site but I will be following you in the future.
Is there a way you can do a left handed video with just one color ? Or know of anyone that has a video I’m having a hard time following I love this patter it’s easy for me to follow if I’m changing color but not when I’m using one color thank you so much and have a bless day
I made a blanket using your tutorial! I made a few mistakes (miscounted stitches for a few shells) that I didn't notice until it was too late to unravel and go back to fix them, but by and large, I think it was a success. I'm thinking about doing a second one; hopefully with no (or at least fewer) mistakes this time. Thank you so much for making this tutorial; you make crocheting so easy to understand!
I love this pattern. I have made three throw pillow covers with the multi color . I sometimes change colors and at other times keep color the same for a few rounds. There is so many variations that one can do with this.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! After trying to read some really bad directions and almost giving up, I found your tutorial! Everything was so clear. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this pattern tutorial Jonna. I can't wait to make it tonight. Your videos are great and very well explained. I have made two virus stitch baby blankets already and they came out beautiful! Thanks again!!
Jonna, thank you for such a clear tutorial. I am a relatively new crocheter and your video was just what I needed to move onto a new stitch. Thanks again.
I’m really happy to hear you’re trying a new stitch! Here’s my newer tutorial that has a better joining method. Both work though! Just in case you’d like to check it out: How To Crochet Shells Of One-Color Blanket |Beautiful shells stitch in one color-advanced beginner ua-cam.com/video/uTMSB7qrm7I/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for the video!! I love how you explained, demonstrated and then moved on to the next step. I think that made this VERY user friendly for everyone.😊
This is my favorite pattern to date I have made at least five blankets in various colors, solids with the two colors and variegated baby Size three and four weights Just love it so much!!! Thank you!!
Yes! I found it! Thank you so much Jonna! This is exactly what I have been looking for. You do beautiful work and are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all!
So we'll explained. Thank you so much for sharing.....I have started my project. I am using cotton thread, multi color yarn with baby soft shades. I think I will make it into a table cloth center. I can use a plain color table cloth to cover dining table as a base. Then just place this over in the center. 😀❣️
J’adore, je ne comprends pas l’anglais mais en vous regardant c’est très simple. Vous êtes très douce en expliquant merci beaucoup. J’aime beaucoup ce que vous faites.
Thank you so much Jonna! You teach so well and have boosted my confidence in crocheting this amazing pattern! I was going to crochet granny squares until I found this video. This pattern is so beautiful and I will use it instead of a plain granny square. Thank you so much for sharing!
I was wondering if at 934 when anchoring to the row below if it's the 4th chain like stated or the 3rd chain? It says the 4th but it looks like it's the 3rd? Thanks for any help
I’m day 6 on quarantine here in Southern California. I’ve decided to start making a blanket to pass the time. Thank you so much for your tutorial. You explain things very well. I’m excited to complete my blanket and I’ve already had friends request one too! 😂
Wonderful! Thank you for staying home. Check out my new tutorial on this same stitch. It has a better joining method. How To Crochet A Shells Of One Color Blanket | Beautiful shells in one color | Beginner Friendly
I love this pattern and how quickly it works up. After a couple blankets I wanted a rectangular blanket instead so I made a little modification and I think it's working up nicely. 👍 thanks!
I must say I really like your patterns and video I have 3 so far and they came out beautiful. This will be the 4 project of yours that I have done thanks so much for the clear directions and easy to follow videos
Great tutorial. Thank you. I have watched your tutorial on the virus blanket and ponchos. I've made 2 virus blankets and the 2 sided poncho and now I'm doing a 4 sided poncho.
Jonna, this is a beautiful pattern. I made one up to four shells per side and it turned out great! Not lumpy or tight, just perfect and I am a beginner. Thanks for sharing.
NEW TUTORIAL OUT NOW! Left and right handed. Better joining method and a written pattern available. How To Crochet A Shells Of One Color Blanket. And pattern on my Etsy shop: JonnaMartinezCrochet
Loving this, after crocheting granny squares for years I want to try new designs. This is working out fine so far. Lets hope I don't mess it up over the next few rows. Thank you for this.
At six minutes, I thought sorcery. I have to go back to create the first v-stitch? Then it made sense, and it's a beautiful pattern. Starting right now to make a blanket. Thank you for making something so beautiful so easy.
I was silly enough to attempt this pattern with a fuzzy, bulky baby yarn rather than trying it out on something thinner and smoother and it was to my great frustration that it took me a couple tries to get. But that was entirely on me, not this video. These were very well spoken instructions and once i got the hang of it the pattern looked adorable!!! This is a very sweet design. So glad i found this. Excited to try it out with an easier yarn haha
I happy to hear you liked the tutorial! Be sure to try my better and newer pattern: shells of one color blanket (pink square on the cover photo) the join is hidden better in the new pattern. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thank you so much Jonna, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and pretty piece. I love ❤❤❤❤ it. And I’m thinking of doing one my own. Please 🙏 stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the tutorial. I have been crocheting for about a year and was able to follow you. I did my afghan in Caron Simply Soft, 2 rows of each lime, lilac, turquoise, white and purple. I love it.
Is there a way to stop when it becomes a square and just make a whole bunch of granny squares and then stitch them together instead of one giant blanket?
+Skyler Hawkins yes. I would make as many squares I needed. then add a straight edge. Then see them or crochet them together. ua-cam.com/video/6ib6PD2Hrd0/v-deo.html Thank you for watching and commenting!
+tsosie805 make two the same size. And face them right sides together. Sew them on three sides. Turn right side out, stuff and fold in the last edge as you sew. Thank you for watching and commenting
I really like this pattern. The shell stitch can be very versatile. One of the things that I am trying to figure out...making it a rectangle. I want it for the foot of our king size bed. Thank you for your tutorials. Even as long as I have been crocheting I am still learning things.
I have a rectangle video and pattern coming out in two days! Shells of one color rectangle blanket. If you click the subscribe you will get a notification when it gets released! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you soooo much for this video. This blanket turns out so beautiful no matter what color. It has become my go to! Working on my 4th one. I have recommended this pattern so many times in various groups too.
I'm trying this pattern for the first time. I crocheted along with you and it was so easy once I got going. Thank you so much for such an easy pattern and tutorial!
finally, a tutorial video that actually walks you through each step slow enough to follow. thank you!
+julesnyrn I'm so happy you liked my tutorial, thank you for watching and commenting.
I definitely agree with some of the comments on this pattern video. This seemed intimidating to me but have tried it and it's easier than I thought
Jonna, you are an exceptional teacher! Well done. I have subscribed.
Thank you so much Sue! Be sure to check out my new shells of one color blanket. It has a much better joining method so you don’t have a diagonal line on your work.
Thank you for watching and commenting! 💖
This is the best tutorial ever. The lady speaks at the correct speed without continually repeating. Thank you so much.
I find that slowing down the playback speed by half is really helpful when learning a new pattern in crochet.
And I make liberal use of the pause and rewind functions! 😉
You are right! Thank you for the idea. I never thought of that!
New tutorial is slower and comes in right and left handed! Shells of one color blanket. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you... You helped me tremendously
Thank you for that wonderful tip.

Me, too!!! Finally, found the pattern that i know will be perfect!
So we'll explained. Thank you so much for sharing.....I have started my project. I am using cotton thread, multi color yarn with baby soft shades. I think I will make it into a table cloth center. I can use a plain color table cloth to cover dining table as a base. Then just place this over in the center. 😀❣️
One of the most beautiful crochet tutorials I've ever watched, thank you ❤️
J’adore, je ne comprends pas l’anglais mais en vous regardant c’est très simple.

Hi Joanna, do you also have this in a shawl type shape? Love love this pattern.
Pattern would also make a pretty bag or coffee table cover.
YES! it would.

how many grams do you need
Thank you for the tutorial. I have been crocheting for about a year and was able to follow you. I did my afghan in Caron Simply Soft, 2 rows of each lime, lilac, turquoise, white and purple. I love it.

Is there a way to stop when it becomes a square and just make a whole bunch of granny squares and then stitch them together instead of one giant blanket?
+Skyler Hawkins yes. I would make as many squares I needed. then add a straight edge.
Then see them or crochet them together.

I really like this pattern. The shell stitch can be very versatile. One of the things that I am trying to figure out...making it a rectangle. I want it for the foot of our king size bed.
