It's just amazing to watch him play. He's so way beyond technique to where it's all about melody and feel for him. For most of us mortals, that's a long journey.
You're right. Even most "guitar heroes" couldn't keep up with this guy. He is on a whole different level.
He's been doing it since he was 6 years old. (There's always hope for us the next time around - yeah right....) :)
It's hard to find anyone, who even comes near him, and i am so tired of hearing people always naming, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, etc, as being the best guitar players ever, like NOT EVEN FUCKING close to this guy, he has 5 hands, with 12 fingers on each hand, and a mutant :O Such a talent!!!
Gorgeous Tune
Holy smoke! I've been using this tuning for about 35 years - -didn't know its "name!"
Wow! 🎸 that was one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard played this guy I would love to study under him! He is one of the world's best guitarist 🎸
One of the genius guitar player in the world
such a beautiful player-very cool tuning. i suspect you could randomly turn the respective tuning keys and TE would still coax beautiful music out of the instrument
I have few heroes, but this man is right up there for me, not just his ability but his humility and willingness to teach.
I've watched him play MANY things. This is definitely one of the best-sounding and toughest-looking pieces of them all.
Saw Tommy last Christmas and his playing was absolutely unrivaled. A true guitar player's guitar player
Beautiful composition. Flawless playing. Doesn't get any better than that.
Incredibly amazingly wonderful!
Truly glad I’ve come across this mans videos! They’re truly a blessing!!!
This tuning was first used by Francisco Tarrega in his transcription of 'Sevilla' by Isaac Albeniz. This would have been in the 19th century. Just FYI!
Interesting, thanks a lot!
Are you serious about that? I’ll have to check that out
Probably the best fingerstyle guitarist i know of
As a native of Union County, Tn. Chet would be proud! Very beautiful! Excellent fingerpicking as always
Just wow! That is a great tune and playing.
He is a shredder of acoustic guitar lol it's amazing to watch him effortlessly play, his tone and touch are king. I can't help but think his last song there has a little bit of Silvestri's "Back To The Future" theme in it, as crazy as that sounds. It doesn't diminish to the same final chords, but it's got a piece of the melody in there, I'm sure of it!
Yes.. enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you.❤️
I see Tommy's name in the title i click on it. Its almost instinct for me lol.
Wonderful Tommy, just amazing.
Incredible!
So brilliant!
This is just amazing.
Amazing!
Just a superb sense of melody!
The master at work!
Thanks Tommy. I needed that today.
Amazing demonstration
Wonderful!
One day, not all that long ago, I found a video on UA-cam by a guitarist named Tommy Emmanuel. Tommy WHO?? Now...I have been playing at guitar, for many, many years, and I THOUGHT I had heard of pretty much all of the "great" guitar players. Ohhh...was I ever wrong! I now ask myself, every time I see a video by Tommy, how is it that I never heard of him before? This man is such a great player, EVERYONE should know his name. It makes me sad, that someone this good, is a relative unknown, other than in the guitar community. But it makes me very happy, that I found Tommy, and his wonderful talent. From what I can see, he is not just a GREAT guitar player, but also a great teacher, and a great person. You can't ask more of a man than that. Thank you Tommy, for the gift you are to all of us. May your fingers always bring joy to our ears...
katyland101 Amen!!!!
I loved Antonella's Birthday! I'm going to see you Mr. Emmanuel in Halifax on Sept 4th, hope maybe you can play it that night. Great lesson and hope to see more of these videos on Reverb.
see ya there! :)
Hey, I live in Halifax too! Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, suppose we’re on different continents here. Anyway, I saw Tommy with Martin Taylor at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax a couple of years ago, brilliant!
Wow!!!.. amazing.. my Hero!🎸🎶🔊🖖
Magnifique Humain !
Nice Tommy ... You are the best. See you next time you are in the New England area!
Wow!!
Awesome!!!
This is fantastic, definitely gonna tune to this and try this out myself!
dermony What is your profile picture from? I know that image!!
It’s been used by the band The World Is A Beautiful Place And I’m No Longer Afraid To Die
The band The World Is A Beautiful Place And I'm No Longer Afraid To Die. Great band, I would defeinitly check them out of you have the time!
@Luke Horan Spot on bro
I swear that there are 2 people inside that guy. One that plays rhythm and one that plays lead. I can't prove this, but I got my eye on him.
God Bless.
Very nice.
Ridiculous, and amazing
"world class" & one of a kind
I'm going to learn that!
very cool
Beautful
Damn wizard
Go see him play live. You will leave the show knowing he is very entertaining and a very happy and sincere person. You might also leave the show wondering how many decades it will take you to get half as good as he is...
Quel bonheur.
Egor, bring me the heads of those 6 sorry individuals who thumbs-downed this video.
Thank you Tommy, beautiful piece. BTW is this the same tuning [officially] used for Tall Fiddler?
Cool
el number one del mundo ;)
It makes mad harmonics🙂
I suspect Chet got this tuning from Agustin Barrios, as he played Choro de Saudade on one of his albums! Amazing stuff!
Why would anyone dislike this
no idea this guy is great
Who cares
When he constantly cuts his notes short it sounds like a mistake. The arrangements are far to complicated for a guitar to handle.
lol ok xwhite
@@xwhite2020 haha, thx for the laugh
For a second, I thought he was playing On The Road Again at the beginning there :)
That run at 1:45 is noooo joke. Wow.
That tuning probably comes from the classical guitar repertoire. Barrios used it alot: Choro de Saudade and Caazapa are some examples
I always called this tuning drop G.
Welp
Time to learn that shit
Tommy rules. So sad for his brother's death in May 2018.
Tommy's the best! 1 viewer has no soul. Probably jealous.
my lord...
what brand microphone is that?
Oh yeah, easy peasy.
What is the first song he played?
Who is CGP? The initials on the 12th Fret. Just wondering. I can't come close to playing like that.
jpavlvs Certified Guitar Player, bestowed upon him by Chet Atkins.
Words fail me...
Does anyone else hear "Time Warp" from Rocky Horror, or is that just me?
Jason W I hear On The Road Again!
We love you for you’re cockyness Tommy.
"Which allows you to do all sorts of stuff, like -"
::proceeds to do something with a 10/10 difficulty level on guitar::
I laugh EVERY time he says that.... yea ok Tommy I hve been playing 30+ years.... when I watch him it feels like the first day all over again!!!!
why is he wearing foundation?
They make the artists up for the vids so they don't look pasty, but they screwed it up. The foundation is yellow FFS
ССР
Chet tunning for stary night
Differently must have had some classical guitar training listing to those chord vocings.
9 nimrods so far with thumbs down... ??? whAAAA
He's so much better than me.
T FP he's even better live, it's kinda scary
Hudson Pollock I'm pretty sure he's playing live here lol
Guitarists Suck lol no I mean in person it's even more impressive looking and sounding
Hudson Pollock yeah i saw him here in Houston, Texas right before Christmas last year...most amazing show ive ever been to..and i got to literally stand about 3 feet away from him outside the venue where he was playing (it was on the U of H campus)
Tommys Timeless Treasures awesome! I saw him in New Jersey in a really small venue about 2 years ago, and he absolutely killed it.
Anytime you even start to get confident about how you play, just watch this video and get humbled immediately
Man...this guy djents...like really really hard
put it in 4th capo, you can play I'm Yours - Sungha Jungs Arrangement
You mean alternative tuning, not alternate. Unless you keep going back and forth between standard and G6 tunings.
one piece
Implying it's from Hawaii, lol.
It's been around for centuries.
He said Chet probably got it from a Hawaiian person, not that it is Hawaiian
Great playing, but why is he green? I think someone needs a new makeup artist.
Is he a showguitar player who steals from everyone?
Greedy on the flourish, Tommy. Slow it down like Philip Chapman and you might have something listenable.
Differently must have had some classical guitar training listing to those chord vocings.
