    Came across your page and watched both pt 1 & pt 2. You’re doing a greater service then what you think by being so honest and transparent about how you’ve started and grown your business with this idea. I’ve been podcasting myself for a few years now and this gives me the reassurance that an idea like this done correctly with the proper resources can go a long way. So thank you..

    Hey man, this is amazing. Thank you so much. I'm currently working on starting a podcast production studio here in Upstate New York. We don't really have anything like this here. I would love to adopt many of the methods that you spoke about in this video. Podcasting is a quickly growing industry and it is an amazing way to speak your mind and hangout with friends and just talk about stuff that you're passionate in. I love podcasting and I want to expand and extend the podcast experience to others. Thank you for this video, so many things clicked to me as I was watching and I feel like I'm more on the right track now. Thank you again.

    I could see added value with having a podcast marketing person come in and help folks market their stuff. Either do it in house with yourself, or bring in someone to do it. This kind of studio space is something I'm looking at the area to see if it would be of value to folks here. Thank you for your content!

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  2 роки тому

      I hear you, but typically marketing requires some sort of additional ad-spend or a good bit of hands-on outreach and networking. If clients came in with bigger budgets, I'd love to offer more, but I think so far, we are already pushing the boundaries of what your 'average' podcaster can invest.

    Really Appreciate this!! And I hope you continue to bring more updates about this.
    I've been wanting to do something like this for the longest time, I've been purchasing bits and pieces outta my own checks just to get something like this going. The pricing is where I am having the most issues with. I like the simplicity of your pricing and straightforwardness with what you get for that certain amount, nice cut & dry.

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching. Yea i spent a long time thinking about pricing and offer too. Too many people just had line item after line item which to me isn't good. If you're going to go rent a space to do it, you really need to be at a good margin. $30-$60 an hour just isn't going to cut it (imo). I've had businesses that pay without batting an eye and individuals that are able to afford it also. If you want quality and a great experience, people will pay more.

      I absolutely agree 💯 💯
      Quality is something that just can't be overseen. And I've been a firm believer in that since the days of downloading UA-cam rips, as a DJ realizing that the quality is HORRIBLE incomparison to a purchased mp3 song. There's no telling just how big someone might blow up, off of a single recording that sounds amazing compared to someone that just records of a cell phone mic. I also helps with knowing who is serious about wanting to pursue making content and those that are just going to waste your time.

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment and watching Vincent! Booms or shotguns are a no-go for me as I'm sure the audio quality would drop given the room size and echo. Lavs are posssssible, but would still require a xlr hookup (or converted to) to work with the mixer. I've seen some other pods use the lavs speakers use and such, but i'm sure that's a bit expensive, difficult and hard to keep clean for everyone.

    Really appreciate time and effort and transparency.....not many are willing to open up about numbers etc. such an important thing to get your head around so you can manage expectations. I’d love to see how you might handle remote guests? Obviously with things like zoom it’s easy to bring people together but how you actually would bring them “into the studio” how best to record them and work around Zooms issues of audio latency and low resolution.....or maybe ditch zoom altogether? There’s got to be better offerings out there. Obviously the picture and sound are only going to be as good as the guests equipment which can be hit or miss.

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  2 роки тому

      This is an area I'm hoping to improve. But the truth is maybe 5% of sessions so far have been via zoom. I just hdmi in the laptop feed and have audio directly going into rodecaster. Works fine with minimal latency to my eye.

    Awesome studio man! I like that you export mini clips. We just launched one not too long ago and one of our strong value props is the "podcast as pillar content" idea. Even if they cant run a full show, if you want to batch shoot content, or even if the show is great, leave the raws with us, or get your editor to do it, and come out with 10-20 videos from a 2 hour session. We target mostly businesses from our day to day so their spend is a little higher, and if they have a successful business/brand than its well worth the spend for them to walk away with content for the month

    Very noble. Kinda surprised you’d make a “how to set up a competing enterprise” video. And to think major networks rented space and the monthly income was still just that. By way of comparison (obviously apples and oranges), I just read Taylor Sheridan rents his own ranches to his production company for $50k/mo (shooting Yellowstone or 1883 or whatever they are).
    If the studio is open, say, 200 hours a month and you have maybe 5 booked hours so far per month, and that’s gross income, then it appears the business can’t stand on its own. The “studio rental” model would just have to supplement someone who had a studio for their own purposes anyway maybe.
    Great informative video series. I hope at least people use your affiliate links and you make some commish there.

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  Рік тому

      Yea I figured I'd make the videos that I would have liked to see when I was starting. Obviously I don't want more competition in the local area to me, but if you have a studio elsewhere, I don't think it's hurting me. Luckily the business has picked up considerably since this original posting and now has a more reasonable monthly income associated with it.

    Very nice videos. Thank you for making, both were very informative. Do have a question tho. How do you deliver the files to clients? This is something I would enjoy a video on. What i mean is. After their session. Do you hand deliver them an SD card? flash drive? email the files?? how is this process handled. Also, are the social media clips delivered immediately after the session?.. Again thank your for the videos

    • @TheStudioBusiness

      Glad you liked it and thanks for watching. We simply upload them to dropbox right after the session. We have really fast internet and each episode takes about 20-30 min. The social clips are after, but typically within a week.

    • @TheStudioBusiness
      @TheStudioBusiness  2 роки тому +2

      You may be right. It is definitely not 'cheap'. I've wondered if my prices were 1/2 as much or even 30% cheaper if I'd have more clients. Of the people that are currently paying this rate, most people seem to be okay with it and are willing to invest more to get a higher quality product than they were producing on their own. I'm planning to do some sales here and there so we will see.
