    Don't give up Ryan, This one looks like it belongs to you. Sometimes people sell homes to buyers because they like the buyer more than they like money. Your connections to people who can help make the place beautiful again could sway the seller in your favour. Best of Luck!

      Absolutely true sometimes. The place that I'm at now had other offers and people interested, but they went with us instead, because my sister-in-law wrote a passionate plea letter to the property owners personally. That made the difference. Not saying that works everytime, but it did for us. 😁

      I got my house for the same reason, the seller wanted to sell to me. My friends were the same, even beating out a developer who had lots more cash.

      I agree!! Same happened for us! Other higher offers wanted to fill in an inground swimming pool- we loved the property for the pool- pool had sentimental value to seller, they did not want in filled and demolished- we got the house!!!! Loved the pool, made seller happy!!
      Write a letter if you cant meet sellers yourselves.
      Besides its close to Billy!

    • @GyurlTrini
      @GyurlTrini Рік тому +6

      I agree! I don't have personal experience myself, but, I'm sure if you write something about why you love the property, talk about how much you love antiques, and, how you've helped your frind, Billy to restore his chateau, and, now, the convent. Talk about things like how close it is to your friends and family, and, how much you value them. Also, maybe even talk about your hopes to raise a family of your own there, eventually (sometimes presenting yourself as a family man / someone with close ties to the community, helps).
      What I'd suggest, though, is, still see if you can get to visit the place, and, go look at the work to do inside ... it's likely (I imagine) that the place was originally in a horrible condition, with leaks, etc., and, in order to sell the property for a better price, the owners simply put a new roof and windows (also to avoid further damage to the property). The cheap price might be due to damages inside.

    It is a gorgeous building Ryan. Putting your name forward is a good idea regardless of whether you get it because it will make the locals aware that you are available and wanting and deserving something special. It seems very reasonably priced. You would pay millions for that house where I live!
    Thank you for the video!

    I once went to view a house that was right at top of my budget. It was an architect designed conversion and appropriately bonkers. The agent didn’t know how much to market it for as there were no comparators. I rang up literally ten minutes after it went on the market, went to see it twice that day. I loved it. (Parents hated it. ). Agent said they had no idea what it would go for or if anyone would be interested. Over that weekend they had multiple offers and it ended up going for way higher. Wasn’t meant to be. If this one isn’t meant to be for you Ryan, it’s because there is something else coming your way that will suit better.
    But I agree with other viewers, getting your financial stuff all ready is the priority otherwise you’ll always be the one losing out. You need to be able to go to the agent and be able to proceed that day with agreed funds behind you. It increases the value of your money significantly.

    Wow, great property.
    Don’t give up on your dream Ryan. My husband and I never thought we would own a home but 27 years ago our luck changed and we were able to get pre approved for a loan and we bought our home with only $2,000 US down. Our house was $107,000 when we bought it and is now worth $400,000, it’s only 1060 square feet with a garage the the land is only 5000 square feet, not much at all.
    Keep the dream alive Ryan and you will get your dream home.

      In Ontario, Canada I bought my house for $124,000.00 and it's a 3 bedroom side split and in 2009 when I started to buy I thought it sounded like I'd be paying forever. It's rent to own and I have 40,00 left to go @$450.00 mo. it has recently been appraised at $480,000.00 it sits on 1 third of an acre and has an attached garage. I have finished the basement and I can't believe it sometimes that It's mine

    Ryan, I assume the roof was replaced because it was leaking a lot and that’s why the the ceilings/walls are in such a poor state. My question is why the owner is trying to dump the property at such a bargain price? It sounds like this place could be a money pit if the interior need to be gutted and the structural timbers replaced because they’re rotted. This property might be better suited to a buyer who has deep pockets.

    It just goes to show there are properties out there. Always ask if the sellers or agents know of any other similar properties. Get the word out you're local and interested in a place nearby. Keep saving and if there's a preapproval in France, work on that. And.. always use your charm!! You will aquire a home thats right for you..things work out for a reason. ❤️

    Hello Ryan. Thanks for the Sunday tour. Beautiful manor home but that price was too good. Hope the new owners take good care of it. Good to see Alexander and darling Billy. Say hi to the gang. Stay safe.😘

  • @blueice011
    @blueice011 Рік тому +23

    Of course Alexander doesn't fancy to join you, he knows he'd be put on a window cleaning detail there. XO
    Edit: Perhaps Billy got an idea what to gift you for Christmas. ;) On a serious note - If you love it that much and Billy can help you out get it, you can sort finances out later, I presume. On even more serious note - when something is too good to be true, there is usually a huge catch - and here it's pretty obvious. If current owners are going through difficult times and have to opt for bargain sale of their property, people who are in position to buy right away (and you stated it correctly - there are many cash buyers at this price), would snatch this first day of sale, let alone two weeks on. I fear there is more to this house that doesn't meet the eye, that being legal issues or structural/something else. For the roof in decent condition, those beams and especially ceilings are in pretty bad condition - so that water came from somewhere. I get you might be rather different in expectations, but for me, that place needs lots of work and perhaps quite some investing before you can feel comfortable living there. Good luck, you'll get your dream home soon, I have no doubts! Stay safe! XO

    I saw my property for sale 7 years before I got it. It was a similar situation. The offer was made and deal in the works & I wasn’t quite secure to counter. By chance I met the new owner all those years later at a cookout & he talked about a property he was looking to sell. Imagine my surprise when it was my desired place from all those years before & all the updates. Better yet, we avoided reality & got a lawyer to draw up a land contract at half the going price. He was glad to be rid of it & I was the luckiest person to get the place I had wanted so much. So Ryan, keep your head up, keep being a positive force in the world & someday the right place will be yours. I just know it will.😊

    Ryan, I think it might be significant that the owner has priced it so low. It could be that he is not obsessed with money. Possibly s/he might prefer a good owner. If the owner is French, only speak to him in French. I think it is important to native Frenchmen that a foreigher has made the effort to speak French. And your French is very good.. Assure him or her that you are experienced in rennovation and have a best friemd who owns the chateau next door where you have been working. A good personality goes a long way in a contested sales situation. Just convince the owner that you are the one to rennovate his former home. In the U.S. some owners will work with you on getting a loan or work out a payment scheme where the owner would be the loaner. If you feel this is your dream home, fight for it. Be passionate, excited, energetic. The Universe backs a passionate dreamer. Bonne chance.

    Check any easements for properties like this that either have land, and/or border farms.
    Local notaire’s have lists of properties that are generally inheritances; sometimes these are bargains because inheritors want a quick sale. Keep looking, there’s plenty out there! 😊

    With the ceiling showing damage on the main floor, must mean the upstairs is an even bigger mess.
    Meaning fixing it would add up to a lot of cash.
    It’s great if you can pay for it all but first time buyers generally can’t afford that type of expense .

    Ryan, I wouldn’t give up and be discouraged. Sellers oftentimes look for a connection with a buyer where financing is not the only motivation. I’m a Realtor in the states where the majority of sales are a million dollars and up. Sometimes sellers go with a buyer who needs to get a mortgage over a buyer who can pay cash. So make an offer. You never know when another offer could be greatly discounted because it’s a cash offer. Until you get in the game you’ll never know. Hang in there!! xx

    You might need to replace floors upstairs as well due to the falling damp. It looks as if someone started the renovation and then stopped so I would beware. I would need a building inspection first before buying. To me there are to many things that need checking. I live in an old stables. We have saved up then renovated a bit! run out of money and and 30 years later we still haven’t finished it. Take you time don’t rush in and you will find something right for you that will work. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.

    Wow Ryan that IS a steal of a deal. Don't give up just yet. Don't discount yourself as what is meant to be, will be. I'm sure you are open as you said you would still put your offer in.
    I don't know your financial situation but even if you could afford the purchase price I can't imagine how much it would cost, each month, to keep it running. I'm in my little 950sf bungalow and I dream of downsizing lol.
    It was a fun time no matter what happens. I hope there are truly many properties for sale 💗

    All kinds of things could be said like, "if it's too good to be true, it is", but usually a depressed price means that something is wrong and it will take a pile of cash to fix it. Good luck!! Well bummer, you need to get a line of credit, for which you are going to need an established source of income, so you can move quickly on piece of property. Moisture, humm, sounds like there be fungus among us, which means that the heat was not kept constant and moisture crept in thru every crack and crevasse and promoted the growth of said fungi. Yup, I'd say it's a money pit.☹

    I heard a story about an extremely desirable property, and many people were offering the full listing price cash, so the person interested was told to offer slightly *above* the asking price. He got it, even though he had to finance it.
