Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Long Long Time", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs.

If you want to listen to more of her songs, try “You’re no Good.” She has a lot of solid hits out there.
Also, bayou means a body of water in low lying areas (think Louisiana). So she’s singing of returning to beautiful blue water. This is a cover as it was originally sang in the 60’s by Roy Orbison but Linda had a top 5 with it.

Thanks, Shon - this is my favorite by Linda - she is so "casual" not tryin' look sexy, etc. - and then just blows you away with that soaring voice... and being live, so awesome... I hope you also do some more reactions to Miss Linda... lol (P.S. Blue Bayou is a LOCATION - look it up... lol) .. at the end she was telling audience that it was being filmed.. "in case you want to wave to your aunts & uncles in Australia...put on a nice blouse.. add some rouge to your face..." - jokin' around...

One of the greatest and most successful female vocalists of all time. The biggest female pop star of the 70s. A shelf full of Grammy awards, the National Medal of the Arts, Kennedy Center honors and a bazillion records sold. Pop star, rock star, country star, folk star and Broadway star. And stellar human being.
A bayou is a swamp or a marsh btw.

She's quite ill now and because of her disease (something akin to Parkinson's) can no longer sing but in her day she could and did sing in many, many genres of music.
During the 70's she was the Queen of Rock who could sell out arenas in a matter of hours. Once she tired of that and the touring it required she branched out into jazz, R&B, operetta, mariachi (her father was of Mexican descent), folk, country and The Great American Songbook among others and found great success in all of them. So the well is deep to explore her musical legacy.

Blue Bayou is a location, she's talking about going back to a place where everything was good. She's going to see him again there one day. Where the folks are fine and the world is hers. She'd be so happy, it would make all the hard work worth it.

This is such a blast watching the young kids stumble on the music of my generation!!!!!!!! There was only ONE Linda Rondstat darlin! Every time you hear her, you know it is one you want to stop and listen to. Yeah, Glen Frey & Don Henly of the Eagles played in her backup band in those days to! So sad to think Glen Frey is dead now & she now has Parkinson disease and cannot sing a note.

Linda Rondstadt is incredible. Definitely do more - You're No Good is a personal favorite. She's also in a super group with Dolly Parton herself and Emmylou Harris (singer/songwriter folky type) called Trio and they sound so incredible together. With Dolly's fast vibrato, Linda's clear, rich power.and Emmylou's earthy warm voice - your ears will thank you when you eventually get there lol

Hey, Shon: Just a few thoughts on live versions of songs ... those of us who tune in to watch reactions grew up with and fell in love with the studio versions. Personally, I like it when reactors listen to the version that first made the song. Sure, there are some iconic live versions of songs out there, and live definitely gives you an idea of the real talent of a group ... but it's hard to go wrong with studio. In this song, Linda definitely does a great job, but damn, the studio version is so emotional and powerful. Anyway, just some random thoughts.
