    Now do the same test on a large case with decent air-flow. I bet the Prism performs significantly better. There just isn't enough air flow and space in that case for the Prism to be effective because the heat is not removed from the case like with an AIO and with the Prism or any other air cooler, you have to be able to get the heat away and and out of the case much faster. As for the VRM, this is not a fair test in any case because the VRM does not have to contend with the heat coming off the cooler.

    I find it interesting that the coolers struggled so much. My brother has a 1700x, and his doesn't run so hot at 4 GHz. Also, I run a 3900x with a wraith prism, and stock it'll run to nearly 90 C, but at 4 GHz/ 1.213 V it won't even hit 80 C. Good job on the video, but the numbers just make me wonder what's happening. The obvious difference is I don't use the NZXT H1, but my case isn't big either (In Win 301).

    • @Tadders
      @Tadders 2 роки тому +1

      The In Win 301 is huge in comparison to the NZXT H1, maybe that's the raisin why the wraith prism works so well? I have great numbers with a 2700x with a Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh Performance with the prism cooler. Maybe it's differences in manufacturing quality from cooler to cooler? I'd say it's more of the case, but idk man.

    In my H1 I have TR AXP120-X67 with A12x25 instead NZXT AiO. On Ryzen 5600X max temps are something around 68C (Cinebench) and 61C while gaming. That's really good results, and its much more quiet, than AiO.

    I just used the H1 V2 to do a build. I just realised the AIO pump wasn't working today and put the wraith spire I got with the new CPU. It's a Ryzen 9 7900 and the Radeon 7900 xtx. The GPU sits at about 50 degree celcius and the the CPU was about 60 for all my benchmarks. That's with the CPU sitting at about 5.4GHz no worries.

    I was interested to see what a low profile cooler could do in this scenario. It looks like unless you do some "optimum tech" level super tuning... maybe even some undervolting, you can't expect to really let loose with an 8 or 12 core CPU. However, a locked 6/8core CPU, or maybe an unlocked 4core/ 8thread CPU you MIGHT be able to make that work.
    That being said, good on NZXT for cramming a 140 AIO in this thing. It clearly puts in work.

    My NZXT H1 AIO is finally performing really poor after 2 years. I swapped it out for the stock AMD Wraith Prism cooler that came with my 3700x and it is performing just as well as the AIO. I have two 140mm exhaust fans mounted to the back of the case that might be helping the air cooler.

    Having had a bathroom pipe leak previous week with all the walls and the floor around the bathroom fully wet and water flowing down to the apartment below.... this accident makes it even more clear that no water cooling ever will be installed in my PC. Yes a water cooler is better than a stock air cooler, but a good stock air cooler works flawless forever while an AiO get`s dirty inside over time, many pumps start making screeching and scratching noises the more mud and abrasive particles accumulate inside the closed loop, and all the hose connections will be weakened over time whenever the system runs hot and the liquid expands. IMO every AiO is a ticking time-bomb inside a PC but in the meantime every air cooler is a simple cooling fin construct functioning flawless and forever in 100% perfection ;)

  • @PyromancerRift
    @PyromancerRift 4 роки тому

    Your air coolers fans were facing towards the motherboard. Since there are no case fans, they just recycle hot air and it become a hotbox. The AIO is extracting hot air outside of the case. The noctua L12s should perform very well in extraction.
    I have that cooler and a 3700X. The only hot moments are not PBO but the max whatt you can give when the CPU works at 100%. Prime 95 small FFT 83C 110w. PBO never reach 75c despite boosts at 4.35ghz.
    Sure, AIO is better, but not mandatory.

    if you flip your cpu fan (scythe) in which it will now pull air through the heatsink and exhaust it out of the top vent you might get better numbers. from what i see your wraith fits perfectly at the exhaust point but the fan isnt interchangeable like scythe. SFF is not about buy it slap it on, you need to have every ounce of attention to detail you can spare if you want to modify or build a good one.

    How long had you been playing for when you took the temps for the H1 AIO with Battlefield V? I know AIOs are generally better than stock coolers, but a 15°c difference is just too much, considering that it's still a small AIO, even if it's a 140 instead of a 120. So I kinda suspect that the AIO hadn't had time to fully saturate the liquid, which usually takes between half and one hour, depending on the task an ok the loop size/ component list

  • @RJTamm93

    Dawid Does Tech Stuff : Dawid, I am glad that you've learned how to properly read the Ryzen temperatures under the Tdie section :). You are one of the very very few on youtube that did that. As to Wraith Prism goes I can tell you from my experiences....I have a Ryzen 7 1800X cooled by Wraith Prism plus 1 140 mm Noctua Redux 1500 rpm fan (both on PWM variable control) and having an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 iCX 11GB inside....and my 1800X doesn't exceed Tdie of 80 degrees C under maximum stress in OCCT, Prime95 combined with the GPU benchmarks running at the same time after hours of letting it run while at the same time being quiet....even when I play the most demanding and efficient games up to date that are AC Origins and AC Odyssey. But it is true that I have it built in a Fractal Design Define R5 Window case which is a proper PC case. It's all about the case and how you tune the system fans in combination with the cooler. But we both can agree that for a FREE stock cooler the Wraith Prism is literally a beast of a cooler for its size and it looks very very beautiful while being very capable :).

    is this the best build currently possible? First. I am in the cult of Razer, I say this only because I know how cases with RGB ar so much better for system performance, And the fact I can go full cult custom systems, I will get the Lu Liahng (Spelling) Razer case, I would get a MSI TRX40 Pro Wi-Fi motherboard, and a AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X.NVIDIA TITAN RTX - Dual Graphics Cards in SLI. i think this will cover anything I make in blender, Right? Or anything anyone sends me that they have made. As well as making my gaming experience extremely cinematic. I play Warcraft, Sure, Hate on me. But I love it and these cards mean I will not need an upgrade for... Idk, What else would need to update? What could be solved with an update? Hmm, Anyways,I know this is overkill but I can do it so why wouldn't I. Tell me of better options but 128 GB HyperX Predator - 8 x 16GB - 3600MHz. It'so unnecessary but it's an Ultimate system, Use Everything. I am not 100% on a cooling system. I don't know what is best, So I'm going to go with a MAINGEAR APEX Custom Liquid Cooling. I would use Hardlines Black Tubing & Gold Fittings. It would look good in contrast to the RGB, It would reflect its cool lighting effects. Idk Choosing a coolant color is relevant in the darkness of the cables I want in the tubing but clear if need chosen, Dual Graphics Cards Waterblocks, Installed correctly. Asus ROG Thor power supply. I like it, So I can see the wattage, If it doesn't fit. Which is completely possible with this case, just go with a EVGA 1200W SuperNOVA P2. I wouls want to go with 2x 2TB WD_Black SN750 wouldn't that be great, If I wanted, Even a Sata SSD. IF just makig the best possible pc. For the future, Why wouldn't I load this full of 4TB Western Digital Blue SSDs as well. To be completely fair, You can connect HDD, Going 10 TB. I'd need a monitor. And for the purposes of artistic creation, being able to open boxes across the screen because of it being ultrawide, Is there a 4k OLED Curved monitor out here that has a decent refresh rate for playing the nerdy games I play, I think I have graphics covered, Show me a monitor that lets me see what I have created in the best format possible. If its a single monitor, I want 3,. Go Overboard with 4 and have the ultimate battle and work station, With one of the monitors being on a swing arm that allows it to be used across the room. Or maybe a cart or something, Im over thinking. But this would be the most amazing set up right? Expect a 49" Samsung C49HG90 - Ultrawide HD, and on each side a 27" ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ - 4K using their own screen sharing technology that places a divider inbetween the screens and due to refraction and reflection It makes it all look like one big event. And if being spoiled, The same Ultrawide Monitor on top of itself. Thats 4 Monitors. 3 combined into visually one and another on top to see messages and stream info. Just great. I can draw in this amazing visual surroundings. it bring visual awareness its documented. If wanting to allow full disclosure of actions, then get a camera for me like the Logitech Brio 4k camera. Get a few and set them up, Ill stream it all, I built a machine for the challenge, what can it do workload side. For artistic work. I want a XP-Pen 22r Pro Display Tablet. This is vital to the whole build because I made it so I can Render Ideas in Blender, Draw in 3d spaces. Create 3d Items, Larger than Reality Items, And Be prepared for hard hit things. Id imagine this to be a creative hellcat.

      That would be some build. Hopefully you don't put your ram in a pcie slot. And definitely don't measure anything before hand, just buy it all and hope it fits and if it doesn't just buy more high end parts and cross fingers. It's how professionals do it.

      Not everyone knows (even tech reviewers) that there is a small switch at Wraith Prism cooler. By default, the switch is set to quiet mode where the fan will max at 2300RPM. The fan can run up to 4500RPM by toggling the switch, but it will scream like jet engine.

    AIOs are not very recommended in terms of reliability, people that do serious water cooling prefer custom loops (yeah way more expensive), I just prefer larger air coolers.

      I've been using only AIO's for a decade and never had one fail. I'll never go back to fans. I even added one to my 2080ti (NZXT G12). Went from throttling during a hurricane to dead silent at 58 under full load. NZXT cooler are normally very solid.
