I bought a 710 cheapo gpu and threw it in my HP prebuilt and a local business owner bought it for their office. As much as we hate prebuilts they’re great for offices or businesses so don’t feel guilty and sell that ogre
That's what I was planning on doing but the damn prebuilt keeps doing weird stuff like Dawid said. In my case, it will sometimes refuse to boot to Windows and display a black screen. I have to hold the power button for about ten seconds to get it to knock off whatwver the fuck it's doing but for a non tech savvy person to figure that out would be a long shot.
@@notlNSIGHT I did upgrade/mounted the 280mm AIO on the back of the case panel (w/ the hole perfectly line up), and use the STOCK AIO existing fan as intake (cool down the RAM and VRM), and it does the trick (able to OC nicely). Able to reduce the CPU/Case/GPU temp by using this fan config (hot air out of the case in the back and pull fresh air from both side panels). The only downside if you own the Original H1 case would be the PCIe 3.0 cable and the stock 650watts PSU (I note coil whine starting from 3060ti and higher tier will be very notable). The reason I OC would be WHY NOT because I/YOU pay Premium prices for it, and so you should able to get up to extra 10% plus performance out of it.
Am 30, when I was around 18 I had a dell gaming pc from that point and the bios was pretty open, it was later on dell for some reason took drugs and locked there bios heavily for some reason.

Great salvage video- love that new tower. I have a Dell laptop from work that was possessed by Dell bios issues. An update finally came out and fixed most issues. One thing I noticed regarding fan noise is that I wasn't always correct on which fan was making the noise- I later figured out it was my PSU fan that was the culprit.
Using the "old" H1 with a B550 Strix/5800x/3070ti TUF the system idle is inaudiable by setting the pump to 2100rpm via the Asus software. Max temps are 75CPU/70GPU c with some curve editing on both.

I currently have this case in version 1 revisited, it works perfectly well, however on the video the new version looks much better, especially in terms of finish (the glass on the front). However my watercooling does not make any noise when the processor is not used much, it is strange. great video!

I've been using my NZXT H1 V1 for about 6 months now and it's my favourite case ever. (Don't worry the one I got had the revised PCI riser so no fires in it) In fact the V1 should be a lot cheaper to get now and all the new stock have had the issue fixed.
I really like mine too! I also got it stupid cheap for $150 as well. I'll probably upgrade to the new case sometime this summer as a B-day gift to myself.

I've managed to mod the xps 8940 case to be mATX compliant (and SFX compliant for the PSU), but modding the front I/O was the hardest part but I am quite happy now because it is a nice decent looking mATX case now (I've made some woodgrain patterns also to give it a look simular to the thelio from system76)
@@tweakz_tech yes I used for example usb header => usb A female cables and hot glued the female connectors to the front panel slots. same for power button and SD card. found no "cleaner" solution for that for the dell XPS case.
I have the Dell G5 with the I7 10700F and the 3060ti. Very similar to your XPS. I replaced the stock cooler with a CM 212 EVO, added a larger exhaust fan, removed the glass and took the original two fans and moved them to the front. Also added another SD and an 16 GB of RAM. It sounds like a freight train but consistently the GPU and the the CPU sit around 58C under load.
My Old Alienware Aurora R7 Now lives in a Fractal Design Meshify C With a MSI Z390 Board, New Ram(Single Channel Ram Suvivor here) and some new fans. Saved my 8700k, 1080Ti and thats about it. Still good for my gaming needs in 2022.

Bad form, lifting the CPU out by one side first!!! Rotating it along the edge like that can easily damage the pins along the side of the socket. There are two cut outs in the socket edge at the top and the bottom from which you should pick up the CPU.
My experience with Dell is that the factory image of Windows winds up being too old when you reinstall anyways. So a download from M$ is necessary. But you do have a point about the Dell Bios, for me, it can be finicky with dual boot (which I have each OS on its separate drive), especially if the CR2032 battery craps out on you. Been there, done that 😂😂😂!
I found a SFF Zoostorm PC with a i3 6100 and 8GB (2666MHz DDR4) Always wanted a SFF PC that wasn't an optiplex, plus all the parts are off the shelf parts so I can put anything in it, aside from the stupid size PSU. Almost bought me a DELL until I remembered that the modern DELL PCs are less upgrade friendly.
That Dell sounds like my old Acer Aspire desktop. Replaced everything apart from the CPU, problems remained. Got a barebone MSI mainboard. Problem gone. Mind you, this was from the dark days. The before days. When Vista had happened. Not the best of times for PC enthusiasts. Fun fact: The Acer had USB 2.0 headers on the mainboard. To which they connected a card reader running at USB 1.1 speeds. Because reasons I guess.
Dells slim power supplies are their achilles heal of the brand (including their business line). As someone who's upgraded and imaged 100s of desktops from the 790s to 7070s, the power supplies suck. Now they've definitely gotten better over time, but if anything is going to fail, it will be the power supply.
David, with the H1 don't be shy using tape to extend the GPU to touch the side of the case. This allows the GPU to suck in fresh air as well as acting like a case fan creating a positive pressure set up. It's made a big difference on my NZXT H1 v1 case with Ryzen 5950x and RTX 3070.
I like the case, never been too worried about the fire situation. It’s just really expensive to me! Always have to remind myself it has a power supply and aio built in.
Hey Dawid, I would personally consider a teardown on that OEM 3070 to replace the thermal paste and thermal pad, because I'm pretty sure it's garbo tier on both of them, and you can improve the cooling performance significantly if you put some good stuff on it.

My Dell G3 3779 must be possessed too. Last night, I ran it on battery power for the first time in years and surprisingly the battery held up well. When I tried to go into the bios to change power management settings, the screen went black and it would shut off constantly after powering it up. I did try an external display thinking I may have pressed the function button that switches displays to no avail. I spent all night looking on Dell's website to request a service repair ticket and boy was that close to impossible. I finally put in my repair order this morning. Wish me luck. 🤣
A thing: 10, 15 years ago the USB-ports on a case were mainly placed at the bottom of the frontside. So if you hooked something up through USB, you could lay your cardreader, HUB, HDD etc. on your desk. Nowadays, they are located somewhere at the topside and middle of the frontside, or at the lid. If you buy a new USB- cardreader, HUB or anything you get a wire of about 3 inch lenghth. So it hangs around or you have to lay it on top op the PC. And it gets worse if the lid is also the place where your exit fans are placed, or your watercooler. What the F are they thinking when they design these cases? I got 6 different pieces of equipment stacked up at the top of my PC, partly blocking the fans! And why oh why don't they make the cables a bit longer on USB equipment like they used to do? I like to suggest a different name for them, like Apple has dongles, we got dangles now! FFS, it's not rocket science! I've been building PC's for 35 years now, and it is like designers nowadays never seen or used a PC before. Yeah, I know I am an old fart, but goddamn... There is more then gaming people use a PC for!
One of my "proudest achievements": moving my workplace away from Dell PCs (well or prebuilds really, but most were Dell)! The old Optiplexes actually were pretty good / ok, but the new stuff is just terrible! These days if we need a new PC we just build one. You know what's in there and if something is broken you don't have to worry about being able to replace parts on your own. I know for big companies there are lot's of advantages for more standardized equipment, but we always had a mix of models & generations anyways.
Yeah Dell has made some decent PC parts for their systems. Their 3090 is very well designed card as well. It is similar in looks to their 3070. If only Dell could apply what they did with some of their decently made GPUs to the rest of their systems then they would have a decent combination.
Little hint.. with a tower like that. I just grab a one off those cheap thick rubber mouse pads.. and place the tower on it. It stops the resonance being amplified by the desk.. you will be amazed how much quieter it will be..
I've worked with a fair number of those XPS's there Dawid and done similar things to improve them (same cooler for instance..) While I can see you wanting to make it better in a new design and applaud that there is no way your having the problems you suggest in the beginning of the video to the point where you can't solve it. Your not some noobie lol..
What I think is crazy is the fact that you were actually impressed enough by the hardware of this pre-built computer to the fact that you were actually going to use it or using it for something. Which I agree with you because I have this computer and I was impressed by the hardware and stuff in it so I bought more of it. I use it for mining and family members, and I actually used some parts of the XPS for my main PC. 👍

Does NZXT sell an AIO the same as the one in the h1? I'm wondering how to replace it when it breaks down as the warranty in my country is different from America where NZXT will just replace the AIO.
How do you keep that pc in the media center without overheating? When I tried to put mine inside to help reduce noise the temps became extremely uncomfortably hot.. I've had to settle for it being behind the TV

been using a 5800x and 6900xt in the gen1 nzxt h1 for about a year now and it's held up perfectly! Temps are great, and no fire issues since I got the recall done. I am pretty jealous of the slightly larger dimensions and added extra + controller, though I think the one thing I'm the most jealous of is the 2nd top usb port! Why did it only ship with 1 to begin with? lmao
Triggered by the cable or AIO pipe in front of the illuminated GPU logo, AIOs are not exactly internal RGB friendly, with those bloody great hosepipes that can't be tucked out of sight

I own the H1 and NAH.... no change to 140mm radiator = HOT and limit on CPU OC regardless of whichever red/blue team you use.

I have the new xps it isn't to bad but it's loud. After seeing dawdies vid on the legion five it makes me think I should swap them out.

Yeah, I did the same thing with my dell. Pulled out everything, put it in an NR600/Steel Legend 590 and EVGA CLC360mm AIO. It's a beast now.

My Dell G3 3779 must be possessed too. Last night, I ran it on battery power for the first time in years and surprisingly the battery held up well. When I tried to go into the bios to change power management settings, the screen went black and it would shut off constantly after powering it up. I did try an external display thinking I may have pressed the function button that switches displays to no avail. I spent all night looking on Dell's website to request a service repair ticket and boy was that close to impossible. I finally put in my repair order this morning. Wish me luck. 🤣

A thing: 10, 15 years ago the USB-ports on a case were mainly placed at the bottom of the frontside. So if you hooked something up through USB, you could lay your cardreader, HUB, HDD etc. on your desk. Nowadays, they are located somewhere at the topside and middle of the frontside, or at the lid. If you buy a new USB- cardreader, HUB or anything you get a wire of about 3 inch lenghth. So it hangs around or you have to lay it on top op the PC. And it gets worse if the lid is also the place where your exit fans are placed, or your watercooler. What the F are they thinking when they design these cases? I got 6 different pieces of equipment stacked up at the top of my PC, partly blocking the fans! And why oh why don't they make the cables a bit longer on USB equipment like they used to do? I like to suggest a different name for them, like Apple has dongles, we got dangles now! FFS, it's not rocket science! I've been building PC's for 35 years now, and it is like designers nowadays never seen or used a PC before. Yeah, I know I am an old fart, but goddamn... There is more then gaming people use a PC for!

One of my "proudest achievements": moving my workplace away from Dell PCs (well or prebuilds really, but most were Dell)! The old Optiplexes actually were pretty good / ok, but the new stuff is just terrible! These days if we need a new PC we just build one. You know what's in there and if something is broken you don't have to worry about being able to replace parts on your own. I know for big companies there are lot's of advantages for more standardized equipment, but we always had a mix of models & generations anyways.
Yeah Dell has made some decent PC parts for their systems. Their 3090 is very well designed card as well. It is similar in looks to their 3070. If only Dell could apply what they did with some of their decently made GPUs to the rest of their systems then they would have a decent combination.
Little hint.. with a tower like that. I just grab a one off those cheap thick rubber mouse pads.. and place the tower on it. It stops the resonance being amplified by the desk.. you will be amazed how much quieter it will be..

I've worked with a fair number of those XPS's there Dawid and done similar things to improve them (same cooler for instance..) While I can see you wanting to make it better in a new design and applaud that there is no way your having the problems you suggest in the beginning of the video to the point where you can't solve it. Your not some noobie lol..

What I think is crazy is the fact that you were actually impressed enough by the hardware of this pre-built computer to the fact that you were actually going to use it or using it for something. Which I agree with you because I have this computer and I was impressed by the hardware and stuff in it so I bought more of it. I use it for mining and family members, and I actually used some parts of the XPS for my main PC. 👍

Does NZXT sell an AIO the same as the one in the h1? I'm wondering how to replace it when it breaks down as the warranty in my country is different from America where NZXT will just replace the AIO.

How do you keep that pc in the media center without overheating? When I tried to put mine inside to help reduce noise the temps became extremely uncomfortably hot.. I've had to settle for it being behind the TV

been using a 5800x and 6900xt in the gen1 nzxt h1 for about a year now and it's held up perfectly! Temps are great, and no fire issues since I got the recall done. I am pretty jealous of the slightly larger dimensions and added extra + controller, though I think the one thing I'm the most jealous of is the 2nd top usb port! Why did it only ship with 1 to begin with? lmao

Triggered by the cable or AIO pipe in front of the illuminated GPU logo, AIOs are not exactly internal RGB friendly, with those bloody great hosepipes that can't be tucked out of sight
