After owning a Ducati with a 7500 mile service and having it run about $1500 I would spend the extra money for the 821 to stretch the service is out longer. That’s why I now own a 1200S also having the Adjustable suspension and the rider modes and rider aids are nice. I would recommend the 1200S I always buy larger more powerful bikes because you tend to grow into them. First bike was a 900SS super sport. Then a 1098 street fighter S. Now a 1200S. Next is gonna be a new street fighter in a few years.

Take the 821....it was my second Ducati and they are so easy to ride. A very forgiving bike. The 112 bhp is plenty, and the fact that you live in Dallas you might want to have a liquid cooled engine. I live in Europe and it’s not really hot here but the engine does produce some heat.

So I bought a monster as my second bike and I picked up a 797. I love the bike dong get me wrong but I do kinda wish I had picked up an 821. The 797 is a wonderful bike but it doesn’t preform how I wish an 803cc engine would. I also enjoy not having to deal with coolant but at the same time if it’s warm outside at stops I’ve had to physically get off the bike to keep my pants from burning. It’s a wonderful bike and if that’s all you can afford it’s a great bike.

The last good looking liquid cooled Monster was the S4 and S4R from 15 years ago. Even the air cooled Monsters are just too busy with emission plastics and plastic covers covering reg/rec, oil cooler and airbox shrouding parts of the motor.
However, the 797 is still the prettiest of the bunch.
    IMO....

Thank you so much for the Monster range breakdown!
As a brand new rider, and a new owner of the 2020 Monster 659 (Australian Learner Model) based on the 797, I've been looking for weeks trying to understand some of the finer points of difference. It's actually been difficult to find written reviews and articles let alone videos that give such a clear and concise breakdown, so again thankyou!
Two points that I think could have added to this video (but might have blown out your time if that was a factor) are, what if any is the difference in year models? I believed the current range started in 2018? Have there been any changes between the year models, or is a 2018 essentially the same as a 2020?
Also the compatibility of those parts & accessories across the range. This information seems super difficult to find aside from part number catalogs.
For instance is the 1200S seat, the same seat as the 797 and vice versa? Same for the seat cover panel? Essentially is it possible to upgrade the lower model with some of the parts & accessories from the higher models?
Anyway great breakdown video, I'm loving my new Monster!

Hi, I’ve read some reviews where I learnt that the 797 has a low gas indicator, but does not give an indication of the amount of gas in the tank. Would this be true for the 821 and 1200?

    • @EvolutioNSwe
      @EvolutioNSwe 4 роки тому +3

The 821 and 1200 have gas indicators and also estimated range.. I have had a 797 and now have a yellow 821. I gotta say though.. On the 797.. The gas light comes on about after about 120-140 miles. It was not a big deal. Just reset the trip, like one always should do anyway at every refuel. Because sometimes gas gauges could be off, regardless of brand. I loved my 797, but being a returning rider, after having ridden over a decade ago before I got my 797. I wanted the flickability of the 797 with a milder power curve. What made me switch was after a demo ride... of the Quickshifter. Since the 797 has a cable throttle as mentioned in the video. You cannot get the Ducati DQS Quickshifter up/down. There are aftermarket ones. But I felt that the DQS was so good.
So I switched to the 821
      33% because of the quickshifter
33% because of more power and...
33% because I liked the riding position a bit better with the foot pegs being a bit more rear set... That is another difference.

They lost me at New Rage Cycle parts...the 360 turn signals are an Amazon LED strip in a piece of PETG tubing that they charge a fortune for. The tail NRC made for the 1199 was decent, the one for the V4 is meh at best. NRC stuff lacks a level of refinement that the price would suggest. If you are looking at a V4 or a Streetfighter V4, I suggest you look at FuturisMoto for a tail. More expensive, but the quality and refinement is there.
