I think Whitechapel did a better job putting clean vocals in the music without changing their style completely, this sounds like Korn, who I like very much, but is kinda weird from Suicide Silence

This honestly isn't that bad. I understand the fans frustration with this new album though. I understand they're a deathcore band, and I understand guys. But there is nothing wrong with experimenting. They were just experimenting and there's nothing wrong with that. I think they have learned from this album and it will make them release another album that will be much better.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with change. Bands are free to do what they want, the fans have absolutely no say in it. However, the reason a lot of us don't like this new album isn't because they changed their sound. It's because it sounds absolutely shit. I'm okay with change just as long as it brings quality results. This sounds they'd all had a simultaneous case of hearing loss, and then decided to record everything in a public bathroom.

i honestly think this is a good song, funny how everyone cries if a band does something different. i gotta admit that i like their earlier work better, but you can not call this a bad song.

Black sabbath plays heavy metal (Doom at least), pantera groove metal, Slipknot NU metal, a7x is pratically pop, disturbed alternative metal, iron maiden is heavy, Korn and static x plays NU, again, Ozzy is heavy, Slayer, megadeth, metallica and anthrax are the fathers of thrash metal, Rob zombie is industrial, mudvayne is alternative and I can't understand what "etc" means, since you listed all different bands. I think you're quite confused about what metal is.

I hate when a band changes direction and people say the band is dead. These are people. Their life's change. If their music stayed static what would the point be. Have you ever watched a movie with a static protagonist? I haven't.
What pisses me off the most is if someone just started listening to this band today, in 5 years when the music is different those people going to jump on the "this band is dead bandwagon." People aren't hating the fact that the band is taking their music in different directions. they hate it for the fact it's just not a good attempt at implementing new elements into their sound.

I must admit, I feel bad for shitting on this album as much as I did when it came out. I really like this song, and honestly I've gotten sick of deathcore and wish bands pushed out of it more like they did with tracks like this. The production doesn't even seem that bad and I dig the nu metal sound. I listen to this more than anything else they put out. Nothing wrong with deathcore, but I need stuff that sounds different. Respect for doing something people hated in the name of being different.

Name and expectations are the 2 things that fcked this project up. With a different name it would be fine but u hear Suicide Silence and u expect deathcore instead of this Korn/Deftones depressing stuff.
I don't think it's wrong to change your style and move into a different space of your own genre as a band. Take Veil of Maya as an example, they changed and they sound fucking amazing, different but also resemble the band they were before a new vocalist. I just don't think Eddie has a good singing voice to back up or even warrant the change... I think a lot of anger comes from the fact that it isn't an evolution from there past sounds, it's a complete abandonment of who they were as a band.

I agree, it's silly. That's how the internet is. It's an echo chamber. I heard Doris a few times on XM Liquid Metal daily for a couple of weeks and it didn't catch my attention, so I won't be buying the album. I prefer the first couple of Suicide Silence albums, but I would never dislike an album enough to be bothered by it. A lot of artists I like have made albums I don't like, there isn't anything wrong with that. The old music still exists and it's still good.
As a metalhead who had never heard of Suicide Silence until I first heard Doris, I think the vocalist just suck at cleans and vocals are so badly produced, it sounds like something I could have sung in the shower.

Matthew Ramroop BMTH's downfall was disgraceful. Count Your Blessings was a deathcore masterpiece, and Suicide Season was their heaviest. Now they make music for jailbait fangirls.
As for Suicide Silence... The Black Crown was that awkward midpoint between deathcore and metalcore. I can sorta appreciate You Can't Stop Me for what it was, but this new shit has "bad decision" written all over it.

SS sound comes back for about 4 seconds every so often...but Eddie doesn't sound like he knows what he's doing.

Can everyone shut the fuck up lol, if this came out 15 years ago, you'd all be losing your minds over it. Personally I really dig the new suicide silence, it's a new direction, and it pays off. I fucking love Korn, Deftones and Marilyn Manson, and I'm hearing influences from all 3 of those bands in Eddie's vocals while he's finding his own voice. I guarantee you he's going to stick with it and improve 100 fold on the next record. Peace

At this point, it's cliche as all hell and the music sounds discombobulated, as though they don't know what direction to take. I also hear the influences from those 3 bands but they aren't the same genre, far from it, and when you try and merge two genres that different it begins to sound bad. Granted, this is better than Doris but still, it's not like Suicide Silence, which is what people want, evidenced from the dislike bar.

Finally someone that understands bands change, its not like there's no other deathcore bands, I'm kinda glad Eddie is finding himself a "new" vocal style, I love deftones and korn more than anything so more bands that have that style i love the better.
