It's mostly the shock I think. Plus, I wonder how he'd react if they'd kept the Phantom looking like he was supposed to look. In fact I often wonder if he'd have as large a group of supporters if they'd kept him how he was supposed to look.
Well, I think there is a difference between fantasy and reality. Like some people enjoy watching zombie movie, but if the person sitting next to you suddenly turns into a zombie (or corpse), you would most certainly feel scared! 🙂
The Phantom: YOU HAVE NO FEAR OF THE BEAUTY UNDERNEATH! Gustave: YES! The Phantom: You'll Accept it!? Gustave: Sure.. The Phantom: YOU'LL EMBRACE IT! Gustave: OKAY The Phantom: *Takes the Mask off* Gustave: WTF... ! The Phantom: Guess you weren't ready :(

Best part of the whole show! Jack's voice is unbelievable & Ben Lewis doesn't warble much as he sings this segment. And the stage set is AWESOME and AMAZING. I was transfixed. However, young Gustave wasn't ready for the Phantom to expose his face.
So I just saw this play in Buffalo Ny. Great show, but they changed this song & I was sooo disappointed. I love this version & was really looking forward to hearing it live! Still the best song in the play though.
I don’t care how shady and negative people is, even is the story isn’t a masterpiece like the original musical, this musical is good, simple story but good, and the score is just Fcking awesome!!!! This song rocks
Unfortunately the original stage production wasn't as elaborate as this one. That's why this is the one that was actually recorded. That being said, Ramin's version of this song is better by far. It's a more operatic approach to rock, so it doesn't feel completely out of place like this one (where you go from eerie phantom tunes to an inexplicable rock blast)
@@lisaandothers I'm not following you I promise lol! But this is exactly it. The visual of the Australian version was out of this world, but Ramin singing this...so much please!
The little run Erik does at 1:25 is so sad in a way cause it looks like a childish excitment that someone understands how he feels inside and will accept his deformity :/
I’ve never really understood the storyline of Love Never Dies. What exactly goes on in the play? Can someone help me understand what goes on? I know Christine left with Raoul because she loved him, but now the Phantom is back and she loves him? I understand the story of the first play The Phantom of the Opera but never Love Never Dies.
Devon Walter at then end of phantom of the opera Christine realizes she actually did love the phantom. The song beneath a moonless sky (I think its called) explains it. They spent the night together a day before Christine was to marry Raoul, but the phantom leaves her before she wakes up to tell him she loves him and wants to be with him. Her marriage to Raoul isn’t great, Raoul becomes an alcoholic after losing most of his money. The phantom leaves with madam Giri and Meg to Coney Island. Meg is in love with the phantom and is super jealous that the phantom still loves Christine and hasn’t forgotten her.
The phantom invites Christine to come sing at Coney Island because he wants to hear her sing again. Christine doesn’t know it’s the phantom. Raoul convinces Christine to go (they need the money), the wildcard is Christine’s son, the phantom didn’t know he existed. ( he’s the phantoms son, not Raouls) Meg gets upset at the phantom, he promised her he would make her famous. Christine’s son ruins everything for Meg and Madam Giri. Meg kills Christine cause she’s jealous (accidentalish) the phantom leaves with his son to live happily ever after I guess.
jet44444 Yeah, you explained the whole thing pretty much. Just to add on to what you said, in the show or the movie, Christine I believe didn’t originally want to do the performance (not knowing that it was the show she was going to do anyway) but then agreed to it because Erik threatened to kill her son (not knowing it was his son too) then later on told Raul she needed to do the performance thinking that she loved the Phantom and the safety of her son. There was a lot more in between too, that’s one of the reasons I love this musical! So much action! I love Phantom and Love Never Dies! And Meg was trying to kill herself because she was so upset and felt so unwanted by the phantom, her mother, and even Christine that she found no other way, the phantom then comforted her and then said “we can’t all be like Christine” and ruined everything. She started acting up and crying again and the Phantom tried to pull the gun away from her to get it out of the way and made Meg pull the trigger by mistake and since Christine was walking up to them trying to comfort her best friend, the bullet got her. If you ask me, and this might be because I love Meg and I’m trying to defend her, but I think Christine’s death was all Erik’s fault. Also, did I miss something because I thought Meg just wanted Erik’s word and approval, I didn’t know she actually loved him, especially since she was once afraid of him and seemed somewhat independent I guess.
it's fanfiction made into a stage play that gives the audience what it wants than what the original author really wanted and that not only further covers up the emotional and mental abuse he puts her through as well as stalking her, manipulating her and threatening her which is supposed to be ok because he apparently loves her enough not to respect her wishes and let her marry the man she chose who actually risked his life for her rather than kill to keep her with him (which is more for him than for her) but also that undoes the only actual act of love he does in the original play when he lets her go because he realises that she'll be happier and safer without him because if you love someone you care about their happiness not about them basically becoming a living or at least singing version of the doll you have of them in your hide-out.
Phantom was once in the circus and yet he put them(freaks, as Mrs.Flinch? said?) I liked that irony, and around 1:22 the fairy-like-woman looked like as if she was screaming, not singing the corus.
I feel like it's implied he doesn't put anyone in there against their will. Everyone calls him "master" and seem in awe of him. I think since there was so few places people with deformities or odd developments could go back then to fit in, this place was one of the few places they could go to be paid to be themselves and form a community. Yeah, it was degrading, but it was mostly honest living. I feel like all of them were in the glass willingly to perform as entertainers so they would play up their strangeness. Also they are in glass, not barred cages, which mean people couldn't poke them or throw things at them, making them something to be wondered at, not abuse.
The Wikipedia entry for this is a wild ride for sure. Seems like it was written off some fanfic where Christine and the Phantom get married or something and ends with "well fuck off she's dead now everyone is miserable, yay!"
