This song was not played in any of the _Back to the Future_ movies. The two songs performed by Huey Lewis and The News in _BTTF_ are "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time."
I agree! How could such an 80s powerhouse fall off the radar like that. I may be wrong, but that would be like having trouble finding Hall & Oates reactions. Am I right?
They were mid recording when Huey got too bad off to sing anymore so they were forced to put out what was in the van already. They weren’t done with the album yet. :/
@@detroitpolak9904 I wonder that as well. Maybe their appearance was too normal and straight. Still that has stopped them from looking dated visually. Huey said he was always more about the music than the image hence Small World of which I am one of few who love that album
Yep, Huey Lewis &The News provided the song "The Power Of Love" for the soundtrack of "Back To The Future" and Huey himself actually had a cameo appearance in the movie as one of the judges for when Marty and his band were auditioning for the school's talent show, in fact, Huey was the judge that told Marty that they were "Just Too Loud"
I grew up listening to Huey Lewis and the News mostly due to Back To The Future when I was a kid watching MTV. They had a very 50's Rock & Roll type of vibe to their sound.
Music was just fun back then. We SERIUOSLY need to get back to that. Every song or film in 2021 and beyond does not need to have a message. People take themselves FAR too seriously today.
I'm not trying to be facetious or a smart ass but what do the kids enjoy today? Many in youngest generations seem to be so unhappy. It's a sign to me we are not in normal times.
And yes another confirmation of your words. FUN - we had fun. We also choose to have fun. I feel so lucky to have been a teen in the eighties. Everything in today's world is taken too seriously - everything! Sadly I can't see people lighting up much. Everyone seems to busy divulging in massive self-pity. Exception being Half and Jai - you two are just awesome in every way! Cheers to my fellow eighties fans. P.S. Did you know that hipster mag, Rolling Stone actually bagged this song to shreds. I think they called it the worst of the year. I know that is impossible to believe. RS never did like HLN as they didn't fit the hipster image. Remember the great song Hip to Be Square. P.P.S Check out Johnny Colla's I Hear Voices CD - very happy upbeat and fun.
Jai the Huey Lewis song that was used in "Back To The Future" is titled "The Power Of Love" This song (to my recollection) wasn't used in any of the "Back To The Future" movies
Huey Lewis was actually in Back to the Future. He was the teacher that said "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud." when Marty auditioned at school. They had 2 tracks on the soundtrack, Back in time, was the alarm that woke Marty up. Then of course the main track they played through the first movie. I think this might have been background when Marty was skateboarding to school. Not sure though.
This is/was one of those Rock/Pop groups that defined the 80s. They had a mad number of hits from this one, "It's Hip To Be Square," "The Power of Love," "Heart and Soul," "If this Is It," but I'm betting you'd really relate to "I Want a New Drug." Digging your reactions. You never disappoint.
I'm from Cleveland it was going to be titled The Heart Of Rock N Roll Is In Cleveland. The song was written months before the opening of The Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame opening which it's in Cleveland
I was in Cali for a couple of months and we had backstage passes to ZZ Top. I standing there, getting into the show, I look next to me and Huey Lewis is standing next to me. Heart of Rock & Roll may not have been in Back to the Future, but I'm sure it was featured in soundtracks from other 80's movies But they were the band responsible for the movie themes and several songs included
We played the hell out of Huey back then. I heard him before Back To The Future, on their album "Sports". My favorites of theirs are "Heart And Soul"and "Walking On A Thin Line" but they had a long run of top 10s. Have a great day.
I've been waiting a long time to see a reaction to this band. One of my all time favorite rock bands. I love them because they play good old rock and roll, no frills, and it sounds great! Thank you!
Thanks for the shout out and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the gifts. I can definitely make a Half And Jai bottle or two. Just let me know. Now as far as Back to the Future, he did do the main theme, ‘Power of Love’. He also did ‘Back in Time’. He also had a cameo as a judge of the school’s talent show tryouts. He told Marty (Michael J. Fox), “You’re just too darn loud.” This song is not in the movie. Thanks again!
One of the best groups from the San Francisco Bay Area California. They had many hits. Fun from the 80's. He was in the movie which depicted the 50's the heart of rock n roll, thus the dancing and clothes.
Huey Lewis & The News was at the top of their game in the 80's. Back to the Future help their popularity a lot. It was their song "Power of Love" that you are thinking of in the movie. I met him a friend of mine has a sister and we all had dinner together and he was so stuck on himself, but all the groupies said that he was the best that they ever had in all areas if you know what I mean and they also agreed that he made them feel like they were the only one that existed at the time and he took his time and it lasted for hours lol. He was a very good tipper to the waitresses when we all went out and when we ate at her family's house he was very polite ,but he was airegant and full of himself at the same time lol. Good times. Much love to you ❤and your family.
Man, Hugh Anthony Cregg III and his News were one of my all-time FAVORITES back in the 80s! I've seen them in concert pretty much everywhere--her in my home state of Illinois (both in Peoria and Chicago), NYC, LA, and San Francisco, where he's from...which was his best concert, honestly. Still have every one of his albums--some of my most treasured vinyl. PS. I could dance like nobody's business "back in the day" - now, at 56, nope. lol

Huey Lewis and The News were my first concert. My aunt took me to see them way back when (1984). Huey Lewis & The News: one of best bands of the 1980s! "I Want A New Drug", "The Power of Love", "If This Is It", "Do You Believe In Love", "Hope You Love Me Like You say You Do", "Couple Days Off", "Workin' For A Livin'". I have loved this band since I was a kid. They are from the San Francisco Bay Area so I used to see them either singing the national anthem or play at half time at the 49’er games. Great memories!
