What a lot of people didn't realize was that Ray Parker Jr., when he did his song "Ghostbusters" was that it was basically this song with the time signature sped up and it incurred a lawsuit against him from Huey Lewis
@@johnbuck3374 yup, there was apparently a nondisclosure agreement that Huey Lewis probably had forgotten about at the time that he'd sued Ray Parker Jr. for copyright infringement
I just miss ALL REAL INSTRUMENTS AND REAL MUSICIANS!! now they use those boards and make people that can't sing sound so so and you know what they do and call it music🤦♀️
Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying Huey Lewis and the News. I was a huge fan growing up in the 80s. You guys are awesome. Wish I could attend the festivities. Maybe next year and I could bring “refreshments” . 🍷
Beverly Hills Cop vibes! YES you nailed it. You're thinking of Heat Is On by Glen Frey (one of the band member The Eagles who passed away a few years back - RIP brother Glen). That is what you're hearing!!! Another song of Glen's that you'll likely recognize and has a smooth AF sax "You Belong to the City" Just a truly magnificent song to vibe to. There were a few great bands from back there that added some horns and sax in it. Huey, Tower of Power, early Chicago to name a few. Glen Frey and Hall & Oats also.
I'm so glad you guys reacted to this song. It's one of my favorites. I've always been a Huey fan and I'm sad that his health has made him quit singing. Being a San Francisco native, Huey has been around here for a long, long time.
this band sounds exactly like they do live as they do off the album. A great celebration band, where everyone is out to have a good time and where romance is in greater volume than loneliness, smiles abundant and laughs epidemic....love their shows.
I really like Huey Lewis and the News. Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
Ray Parker Jr. was going to be sued for using the song as the basis for the Ghostbusters theme. Eventually, there was a settlement out of court to resolve the dispute.
#1 Ghostbusters song ripped off this song and had to pay back Huey for it. #2 I have a GIANT Crush on Half and she's the ONLY reason I watch these vids that and how funny Jai is. Thank GOD for the Love of Half 🤔
Great song and it’s funny you mentioned Ghostbusters because: When the theme song of the 1984 film Ghostbusters was released, Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. and Columbia Pictures for copyright infringement, claiming that Parker had stolen the melody from "I Want a New Drug". The three parties settled out of court. ... Parker subsequently sued Lewis for breaching confidentiality. I like both songs…classics!! P.S. Happy Birthday 🎊🎈🎁🎂🎉
Ray Parker Junior got sued by Huey Lewis for ripping off this beat for the Ghost Busters song. React to their song/video Heart and Soul from the same album, I can guarantee you’ll both enjoy it!!
Huey was awesome..seen him at a state fair here in wisconsin, but unfortunately,he doesnt sing or perform at all anymore. He has meniers disease..lost alot of his hearing. its sad.
Happy Birthday my man!!! Keep up the GREAT content you two!! Reactions aren't the same without you guys!! Sorry I can't patreon, but with that said, do some Kid Rock. Cowboy, Rock n Roll Jesus, Cocky, All Summer Long. You are the perfect couple to be first and advance more kid rock Reactions. Love the chzannel... Good Vibes baby, good vibes!!!!
I was never really a big fan of Huey, but I liked this song. It always reminds me of a friend I had back in the day, Emma! She heard the lyrics as "I wanna new truck"! Good memories!
Hap B-day 1/2. Next song: 19 by Paul Hardcastle. It's about the Vietnam War. Very visceral and incredible footage. It's a little dark and deep. But its definitely memorable.
Half and Jai -- Huey Lewis and the News did a song called "Working For A Living" which was covered by Garth Brooks f/ Huey Lewis. You ought to react to both!! Great tune! Shoot out to you!!
Yo JAI and HALF… ya’ll have become my new drug… please don’t ever go away … cause i already be jones’ in for ya’ll… bwahahahaha got me twitchin an itchin waiting for another hit aka reaction video from ya’ll… YA DIG!!!
Hello, I'm doing this as a favor to my fiance and I who watch you all a bunch, we always love your reactions. I have a request, if you could, listen and react to Blueridge mountain song by Alan Jackson, my fiance and I love to cuddle, sing, and dance to that song. It is our song and we love watching you guys react to romantic music, y'all are just too cute! 😭💖. We are also expecting our first baby (a son!) Due September 12th! 🥰💖
Yeah. Ghostbusters wanted Huey Lewis and The News but they said no. So they stole the song and Ray Parker Jr. recorded it. Just sad that this version doesn't fade out with the guitarist's nod to Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze".
Huey was one of the first successful Christian rock acts and they paved the way for many other acts to follow. This song , he is referring to finding a higher power (Jesus Christ) as well as his other songs Power of Love (lyrics: Change your hawk to a little white dove, more than a feeling .. that's the Power of Love), Jacob's Ladder (from the bible) and many other's. He was revolutionary in the mid 80's in the way he brought a positive Christian message to the forefront of rock and roll.
You two are so much fun to watch and I only know 2 other couples who look at each other with your level of love for each other, Mr. & Mrs. Chris Stapleton and my wife and I. I so love and respect that rare level of love that I have to call it out when I'm blessed enough to witness it. My best wishes to you both.. PEACE!!!!!
What a lot of people didn't realize was that Ray Parker Jr., when he did his song "Ghostbusters" was that it was basically this song with the time signature sped up and it incurred a lawsuit against him from Huey Lewis
Absolutely stole directly from Huey's song for the ghostbuster theme song. Parker and the movie got sued and settled out of court for $5 million.
Makes sense
I read once that there was a clause that Huey couldn't talk about the suit publicly, but he broke the clause And Ray got the money back.
@@johnbuck3374 yup, there was apparently a nondisclosure agreement that Huey Lewis probably had forgotten about at the time that he'd sued Ray Parker Jr. for copyright infringement
Lewis stole the song from Ray Parker Jr. and won a ton of money in a copywrite law suit.
Do you remember Huey singing in USA for Africa? His voice was perfect in that song.
Singing alongside Kim Carnes and Cyndi Lauper
Huey and Steve Perry had the best voices in that song. Michael Jackson a close third.
I miss the Sax that was so prevalent in 70s and 80s songs.
I just miss 70s and 80s songs...with or without the sax!
Big Man rip Clarence Clements👍🤔
I just miss ALL REAL INSTRUMENTS AND REAL MUSICIANS!! now they use those boards and make people that can't sing sound so so and you know what they do and call it music🤦♀️
Yes especially the Alto.
Huey sued Ray Parker Jr. for using his beat, In Ghostbusters.
They
settled I think, but Huey won!
Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying Huey Lewis and the News. I was a huge fan growing up in the 80s. You guys are awesome. Wish I could attend the festivities. Maybe next year and I could bring “refreshments” . 🍷
Man I did too love these guys
The whole "SPORTS" album is good .
Huey Lewis has a good voice. I had forgotten how much I really liked him.
He’s almost deaf now. That’s why they stopped playing. So sad.
Huge fan of Huey and the News. Songs of my teens. Never ever tired of watching reactions to these guys.

One of my favorite and most talented band of the 70s and 80s.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! This song is really sweet, she makes him feel so amazing that he wants a drug like that.
Another Huey Lewis great.
I clicked so quick! Lol! I love this song! I'm so old. But I'm so glad I grew up in this Era. I wouldn't trade it for anything! 80's rule baby! 🤟

Whenever you see a Huey Lewis video, this comment is never far behind.
Ray Parker Jr. was going to be sued for using the song as the basis for the Ghostbusters theme. Eventually, there was a settlement out of court to resolve the dispute.
Actually it still goes back and forth
@@andreadeamon6419 an article in 2016 said it was settled out of court in 1985

So now you should listen to "Love is the Drug" by Roxy Music. Great reaction.

Ray Parker Junior got sued by Huey Lewis for ripping off this beat for the Ghost Busters song. React to their song/video Heart and Soul from the same album, I can guarantee you’ll both enjoy it!!
Love Huey Lewis and the News. Great Band
Basically stole this song from Huey Lewis and the News change the lyrics to Ghostbusters there was a big lawsuit in the 80s
Love is the drug. Also, a warm bed with the person you love does wonders.
Huey was awesome..seen him at a state fair here in wisconsin, but unfortunately,he doesnt sing or perform at all anymore. He has meniers disease..lost alot of his hearing. its sad.

My favorite Huey Lewis song. Everyone I knew had this album. I still love it!
Yo, Half. Congrats on being another year younger.
The drug is love. The original title of the song was I Want a New Drug Called Love.
I was never really a big fan of Huey, but I liked this song. It always reminds me of a friend I had back in the day, Emma! She heard the lyrics as "I wanna new truck"! Good memories!
Hard to believe this is almost 40 years old.
You guys are truly amazing people in the world! Love your personalities! Your channel is so much fun!
The 80's were a blast! The music, the clothes, the dance. Bring it back
Huey Lewis definitely Cali.
You should do, "Do you believe in love?"
You two are the best! I really enjoy watching your reactions. Definitely couple goals ❤️❤️❤️
Huey Lewis successfully sued Ray Parker Jr. for copyright infringement because Parker's "Ghostbusters" song copied "I Want a New Drug."
Let me know if you find a new one, lol!
He talking about love.
We used to hear these great old songs at the clubs- glad you can enjoy them on your birthday!
I think you should react to Hall and Oates. They had a lot of great hits in the 80s. "I can't go for that" is one of the greats
Oh my god, thanks for reacting to this! 😁 I'm a child of the eighties and grew up listening to these guys. Still so damn good!

FYI~ Ray Parker Jr. was sued for using this song's musical basis to create the Ghost Buster's movie theme song...
I was born in 79, so Huey was big when I was being introduced to music in general. Love him to this day
The lawsuit that came from "sampling" this song is why you don't sample anything recognizable.
Hap B-day 1/2. Next song: 19 by Paul Hardcastle. It's about the Vietnam War. Very visceral and incredible footage. It's a little dark and deep. But its definitely memorable.
Ya know what I'm sayin', Ya know what I'm sayin',Ya know what I'm sayin'. SAY IT AGAIN.

You can't forget this video is from 1983, when not just the song but the video was everything. MTV was new and played music vids all the time.
Half and Jai -- Huey Lewis and the News did a song called "Working For A Living" which was covered by Garth Brooks f/ Huey Lewis. You ought to react to both!! Great tune! Shoot out to you!!
Now that's some real music 😂🎶🔥🔥🔥🎶
Ghostbusters theme stole the sample from this song. Huey sued Ray Parker Jr.

Awesome song
Try walking a thin line
Back to the futute soundtrack
Ray Parker jr. Got sued because it was I want a new drug with different lyrics. And Ray Parker lost
Huey Lewis and the News do the song Back in Time in the Back to the Future movies.
Huey got compensated very well, for all the plagiarism of this song laughing all the way to the bank
Yeah. Ghostbusters wanted Huey Lewis and The News but they said no. So they stole the song and Ray Parker Jr. recorded it. Just sad that this version doesn't fade out with the guitarist's nod to Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze".
