They're standing on another mountain. The lava would have to flow down and back up to reach them. Although I admit I wouldn't consider a mountain "safe" while another mountain beside it is violently exploding.

I've never considered what a massive lava flow sounds like. I always thought it would sound more "sticky" and "crackling," but it actually sounds a lot like water at least in large amounts. I would never have known that if you had included epic orchestral music like most creators do. Seriously, thanks so much for leaving music out of it and just showing us the raw footage.

The videographer gets the credit, Mother Nature acts up like this often and in many places. If you are not there to see it you don't see it. I would never have been able to witness this volcano in Iceland if it wasn't for the videographers, and I'm so grateful to them all.

Amazing how it starts off with a small trickle then within a matter of moments turns into a lava Tsunami. Fascinating to watch. And its amazing how fast that black crust forms on top as soon as the air hits it.

The eruption and lava flow remind me of toasting a marshmallow over the fire. That includes the marshmallow that gets caught on fire, and has a few charred bits.
Watching how fast the lava flow moved and how it moved as easy as water them cool off so rapidly like that just makes you wonder😥 that was an intense yet amazing vid🙏🏼
Well I would say you're quite fortunate to have seen the eruptions in Hawaii. I believe any erupting volcano that can be viewed safely would be an experience of a lifetime.

Volcanos are amazing. It's sad for the people that are suffering so much loss because of it, but to be honest, if you pitch your tent on a dry river bed you could get wet..Volcanos don't discriminate when they decide to blow their tops..
I've filmed some raging flooding rivers before and the recording never done it justice to how intense it was. This was intense even watching the recording of it. I could only imagine how intense that was in person

Was watching someone the other day talking about all the earthquakes going on in an area in Iceland. He thought they’re would be another eruption. He wasn’t wrong. That really is spectacular footage you have there 👍🏼 I’m guessing the folk standing there are Icelandic. Balls of steel. 😶

I was standing in the same place the previous day. The telescopic lens is extremely misleading. There was like a half mile of a valley distance away from the cone. Felt pretty safe with the gently errupting lava.
Or perhaps Jesus Christ is in the heart of the people there? Faith over fear! I’m thinking that they might have felt some warmth, even though they were at a safe distance.
To me this is a beautiful and powerful testimony of the the greatness of our God. Let His name be magnified in all the earth! Beautiful and terrifying at the same time❤️

@@Blackadder75 yes, the telephoto is deceptive but that lava is moving FAST. Several Kilometers just doesn’t seem safe if the volcano explodes, or even spits.
@@AlergicToSnow lava can't flow uphill, just like water it seeks the lowest point. And this type of volcano does not explode. If you don't trust my word, maybe you trust the Icelandic people, they have some experience with the subject 😀. I wish you a lot of viewing pleasure, volcanoes ( that don't harm people) are awesome.
That was pretty intense. So from what i could see, there was a lake inside of the caldera, then some event happened thst caused an instability, maybe a collapse, or a sudden release of gas pressure forcing more magma volume...and it overwhelmed the walls. Then as it overtook the wall it eroded the sides like a breaking dam allowing more volume to escape.
We were all so privileged to be able to watch this volcano be born. And with video footage like this, it will be one of the best documented eruptions too. Thank you so much!

We (and especially Icelanders) are lucky that this volcanic eruption can be enjoyed as a spectacle. No homes were in harm's way (except for one farm, IIRC - none of coastal villages are endangered, I believe), and no infrastructure save for one rather important road and optic cables which are now buried deeply enough to be safe from lava flowing over them. Not so for La Palma, unfortunately...

We (and especially Icelanders) are lucky that this volcanic eruption can be enjoyed as a spectacle. No homes were in harm's way (except for one farm, IIRC - none of coastal villages are endangered, I believe), and no infrastructure save for one rather important road and optic cables which are now buried deeply enough to be safe from lava flowing over them.
Not so for La Palma, unfortunately...
